trying to get hold of customer services is a joke. An average of 45 mins - every time (I was calling regarding an issue that can't be solved by email/internet banking). Then, trying to get a resolution to my problem is just as bad.

26 years with Westpac only for a new manager to insult us and demoralise , a simple request for a trasaction statement could not be fulfilled , but for 2 years prior was all ok . So her response was get out of bank ,I will not serve you, unless you leave I will call security!!!!!! We are AAA customers . Thru embarrassment I left , why I don’t know as we are the people that pay her wages.
I went to another branch and within 2 min all was done. Let me tell you Leura branch is the one that is trouble new manager no ability , no personality, no customer relations ability. Westpac up your act treat your customers with respect , 26 years !!!! If it could be conducted at another branch with no issues who is at fault here, not rocket science!!!
stay the hell away
I have about a hundred stories of my own drama with westpac over the 2.5year period we were with them... all of them bad. When I finally went in and closed the account to move to another bank, I heard another westpac customer complaining to staff about the same issues I had. Stay the hell away from westpac. Your wait times are a joke, the staff all say different things and you will do nothing but get angry. Longest wait time 2hrs 47mins for a general enquiry... and by then they tell me the person I would ahve to talk to has now gone home...well of course they have, look at the time now.
Life is to short to be with this bank.
Recommend TSB. 1 year with them and flawless service for the same BASIC stuff.
Horrible bank
Every time im in the bank they tell me to remove my hat like im going to rob the place even though they know me now. Asked for a loan of $200 to help with my rent as i have just moved got told they dont help with rent as that would be irresponsible i explained really it was for moving costs as thats where my rent money went i was then made out to be a lier and told i cant have a loan cause i wouldnt be able to pay next weeks rent if i had to pay back the loan even though the loan repayment was $25 a week? Told them i could pay the $200 back in under 3 weeks easy he then brought up i was on a benifit told him i have a boarder and since then winz has been rang and i have been investigated for fraud which was a waste of ther time and the government's time as i am aloud a boarder living with me. All in all very rude conduct, spoken down to, investigation opened and then closed for miss information. Whats the point of having a bank if they cant even help with $200 maybe i should have said i want new shoes or something more important than rent. They are only interested in you if your there to get massive loans and pay massive intrest rates.. horrible bank with horrible policy's.

Trying to sort out a fraudulent debit from my credit card - have spent over 2 hours over the last 3 DAYS! trying to get through to someone to sort it out. Since westpac 'upgraded' their service has been appalling. Why is there not an emergency credit card line for things like this? website says phones are operating 8am to 11pm on the weekend yet no one answers the phone so what is the point?!
World's Greediest Bank
Westpac wanted me to transfer $0.03 cents in order to finalise my cancellation of my Flexi loan and 0.15 cents to cancel my credit card. They are now refusing to close my other Flexi loan until interest has been charged although my balance is $0.00. After paying several thousands of dollars in just interest, they shamelessly ask for a few cents otherwise they we will not close my accounts. This is the type of farewell they give to customers like myself after being loyal to them for 15 years.
Unfriendly staff
Unfriendly staff, making you feel like you asked them to move the world for you. They charge fees for things like bank cheques ($10 per cheque) why? When at ASB this is free.

The computerized banking machines down one wall can never replace people as they have done!
Lines of very angry customers stream out the door and the two tellers have to take the brunt of their dissatisfaction.
When I finally got to the teller after a 20 minute wait - she was not able to answer my question - said she would ring me at home - but never did!
THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! HAVE MORE TELLERS ON HAND!

First they will offer you for credit card and then decline your application!!
Never ever trust this bank, they will first keep on offering credit card and when you apply they will decline without any reason!!! I have been their customer for 10 years and for the last 3 years I have been receiving the low rate credit card offer for 3/4 times via mail and finally when I did not applied for it they offered me via my westpac app. Now after their so many offers I decided to go for it and when I did they DECLINED my application! I have a clean credit history, not even ever before had any credit cards or any any credit issues but still got declined .. And when I asked the reason for the refusal they just said they can’t disclose the reason and that is because they don’t have any reason. And now bcoz of their refusal I have got acredit refusal in my record. Never trust them.!
After 15 years of banking with Westpac
After 15 years of banking with Westpac, and with a total of 27K in credit cards limits, always paid well in advance, they refuse to give a meagre $1K limit increase for a currently $2k limit card, without our providing all our financial data. Unscrupulous, sanctimonious, irresponsible corporate miscreants who have nothing better to do than data mine to get hold of private information. They proudly assert that there is no point asking the ombudsman for assistance because they are so sure the ombudsman will support their actions. What does that mean? Ombudsman is in the pocket of Westpac and does not take proven history and reason into account???

This is the worst bank ever due to every second employee being more arrogant than the other. Yesterday I was so degraded by the very branch manager that I came home and overdosed. The follow up to this serious incident is not satisfactory at all. The person who was supposed to set things right couldn't possibly be more rude and unprofessional. I cut him off by demanding a letter about what he has to say and I haven't seen that letter yet. Ignore them before they let you down and as low as they are.

Westpac as an overseas customers
For the last few years we have lived overseas but kept our Westpac accounts open usually to take advantage of their great balance transfer rates and hotpoints on the credit cards. I can't thank the wonderful staff enough - Kerikeri branch made special arrangements for my mum to pick up some foreign cash for their trip that I paid for (and arranged for it to be a surprise and give her the card to explain it all). In addition, Andy Beavan went over and above to split my credit card in two so that I could use one for BTs and one for spending when I go back on holiday and Faima who sorted out my KiwiSaver so easily. Every time I have emailed them an instruction it has always been acted on thoughtfully and helpfully, taking every opportunity to make it a really good experience. We're about to move back to NZ and we were discussing who should be our main bank and there's no one else I'd rather have alongside me on our savings journey.

I’ve recently received terrible service at the Greerton Westpac, the bank teller had no idea what their own products and services were and she also wasted so much of my time just for a very simple request which should only take less than 5 minutes. They need to provide adequate training to train their staff or hire people who are younger and more tech savvy. It’s sad to see the change since the last 10 years, it use to be very friendly and gives positive vibes. Now we get grumpy looking customer service. It really isn’t a good look. I’ve been banking with them for over 20 years.
