Daffodil Valley Waddesdon Manor Buckinghamshire
Lovely time of year to visit Waddesdon Manor and see daffodil valley. The grounds are kept beautifully. Curtesy bus available from car park or a nice walk on gravel path a good 20 mins. In the house extensive artwork but light varied very dark in some areas and unable to stand back to view large art pieces in corridors. Overall a nice few hours spent.
A day at Waddesdon Manor
It is a beautiful place but very lacking in places to eat.The main restaurant was serving afternoon teas only, at lunch time, so the only place to get a hot lunch were the Stables that served fish and chips or sausage and chips, for which you had to queue up for outside for on a very cold day, it was all very unsatisfactory and spoilt the day
Good visit to Rothschild's house except…
Good visit to Rothschild's house except restaurant for fine dining at manor restaurant ! Visitor 'peasants ' had to use cafe outside- (table & chairs)with hot drinks paper cups with the wildlife of jackdaws who delight of flying by & out of the bins! There must be another way for respectable visitors to Waddesdon manor!
Appalling experience at WM! We arrived to attend the concert at WM…
We arrived to attend the concert at WM last night and had a very bad experience. The bus brought us from car park but then when we had emergency getting back to our car at 8:30pm we had to walk a long distance because bus service was stopped until 10:30pm. Cold windy evening weather made our stay unbearable with no blankets to buy or provided. No decent food, only 1 hour queue to the only standing food stall of expensive street food of poor quality. We left without seeing the main act of the concert being super cold, hungry and suffering from the loud banging noise/music of the first opening acts because the sound was badly managed. Absolute disgrace to the appallingly poor management of the whole event arrangement. We felt trapped when could not get back to our car after being misled that the bus shuttle is available every 10 minutes. Please correct all the above so the others will have a better experience. This will be published as a warning to your visitors.
Stables takeaway, very slow service, insufficient staff
Queued for over 45 minutes to get hot drinks. Only 2 staff working. We would have also liked some hot snacks but they were constantly running out. They could have trebled turnover with more staff as people were leaving the queue after seeing how slow it was moving. A ridiculous, appalling level of service to visitors.
Spectacular French chateau in England
Spectacular French chateau in England. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Only one female staff in breakfast room, not even bothered to smile, just randomly throwing a word “it’s a breakfast room” to the visitors, not reflected the good team spirit
Way too expensive
Way too expensive. Lunch was also underwhelming. They shouldn't charge National Trust members to use the shuttle bus.
Christmas at Waddesdon.
Christmas at Waddesdon Manor is well organised with great displays at this time of year and something the staff and volunteers should be proud of. Well worth a visit .
Make sure you take a picnic.
Having been life members of the NT for over 10 years we are quite used to heavily inflated prices in their tea rooms but Waddesdon really does excel at this. 5 drinks and 3 small pieces of cake came to nearly £35. I think the cheapest tea available was just under £3 with coffees and soft drinks even more.
I was fortunate to visit Waddesdon…
I was fortunate to visit Waddesdon Manor on Saturday October 12th.,2019. I have seen several elegant
and historical residences through the past several years. However, none of these comes anywhere close, to this magnificent (it should be called "Waddesdon Castle") building, set within the most exquisite and impressive gardens, that I have ever seen. I definitely intend to visit this beautiful creation, when I visit England again. I have never been in such awe, in my entire life. THANK YOU !

Waddesdon Estates ( Golden Mede…
Waddesdon Estates ( Golden Mede Housing) ...... Potential buyers on this development should be aware that Japanese Knotweed was found on the land in 2016 and the treatment is an ongoing and lengthy process not scheduled to complete before 2021 at the earliest.
Full details concerning Knotweed can be found on line along with damage that can be caused to property, legal requirements, values etc.
We had been looking to purchase here for sometime and there was never any mention of this by the site sales staff either prior to or when we paid a reservation deposit last August ...... it was not until the 11th hour when the information was received from the sellers solicitors that all was revealed and just prior to exchange of contracts.
We decided to withdraw from the deal but by this time a lot of energy, time and money had been expended.
The Consumer Code for Housebuilders clearly indicates that Home Buyers must be given enough pre-purchase information to help them make suitably informed purchasing decisions. This is clearly not the case on the Golden Mede development as none of the site staff (sales or builders) routinely run through the information so Buyers Beware !!
I visited the house today
I visited the house today. Entrance was timed at 2.50pm. It was +31C outside and boiling hot inside the house. A lady at the house entrance said I couldn't take my small half empty bottle of drinking water with me. She said there was drinking water available inside the house. THAT WAS A LIE. I asked two different staff memebers inside the house and there wasn't any water and they couldn't care less. That was really poor. Other than that the grounds looked good.
Waddesdon Manor: How the National Trust can do a bad job....
Waddesdon Manor itself would get 5 stats, it's a beautiful place, unusual architecture for Britain, full of beautiful 17th/18th art and objects, plus such an interesting story in it's conception and the family. The grounds are well looked after and the whole place can be a wonderful day out. What ruined our visit is the reason for the low score and the Nation Trust complacency to it's visitors.
Under the National Trust website site, Waddesdon Manor is 4 miles from Bicester North railway station, so we planned our journey by rail and last leg by taxi. It's wasn't until 12 miles later that we reached Waddesdon Manor, the shock of the fare wasn't a good start, and we had to return to Bicester North station because of the tickets. Once we arrived at the visitor's car park, we queued along with everyone else and bought tickets to what we thought was the house, as it's was raining we didn't really need to see much of the grounds, it's the house that we wanted to see.
Wasn't until we got to the house that a National Trust rep informed us that the tickets we got was for the park /garden area and not the house. So the first kiosk could have said something, but just gave us a grim look and the standard sentence... 'paying by cash or card?'. So after getting the house tickets, we were told that the entry into the house was on a fixed time allotment, so we had to find cover for 45 mins as it's was raining.
The tea & coffee kiosks are not cheap or helpful, in fact nothing is about the whole day was cheap, it cost us £60+ each and that's without lunch.
Information on websites is what we use to plan our day-outs, and if the information is incorrect or lacking then it can ruin a day out and be very expensive too, which is the case for the Waddesdon Manor. National Trust read my email....
