I have to ask where has the etiquette gone ? Having paid so much for a flight the question should be hi what can I get you for your meal today..not do you wanna eat..and then I can reply having seen your lack of hygiene and body scratching no thankyou..upper class on virgin has gone to a 1/10
I will never be booking with Virgin…
I will never be booking with Virgin Atlantic again and will be spreading my feedback to others to warn them to stay far away from this company. I booked a flight for my long distance partner to come visit me from the US to the UK. Virgin did NOT inform me that they canceled the flight WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE FLIGHT and blamed it on my bank. I called my bank and my bank had nothing to do with the cancelation. Your company insinuated fraud which is honestly quite a disrespectful allegation. This company had ZERO communication and now I am waiting fourteen days to get my funds back. In addition, when calling to have him retain the flight and pay in person at the airport, you raised the price for the flight by over $200. That is an absolute slap in the face for something that was Virgin's fault in the first place. This is one of the worst companies I have ever done business with and I will be looking for more avenues to post my experience to warn other potential customers to do business elsewhere.
Paid points transfer took over 24 hours with zero visibility or support
I transferred 6,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points to another member and paid a £10 handling fee. The transfer was confirmed and charged immediately, but the points did not credit for over 24 hours.
During this time:
• There was no status tracking
• No indication of where the points were
• Customer support had no visibility or ability to help
• I was repeatedly told to “wait up to 72 hours” despite having paid for the service
For comparison, Hilton, Amex, and Marriott transfers (including via Points.com) were instant. Virgin’s system is clearly outdated, opaque, and not fit for time-sensitive use.
Charging a fee for a service that is slow, non-transparent, and unsupported is unacceptable. If delays of this length are normal, they should be clearly disclosed before payment, not hidden in fine print.
This experience shows a serious gap between Virgin Atlantic’s branding and its actual backend capability.

Very uncomfortable seats
I’ve flown long haul many, many times, visiting over 80 countries. I’ve never had a seat more uncomfortable. I am tall, but can usually find a comfortable position. Not this time. My wife is short, and she came off the flight with a sore back from the terrible seat in economy. The aircraft sat on the tarmac for an hour with no aircon due to a broken APU. I won’t book Virgin again. I’ll look for an airline that offers its customers a comfortable seat. We spent £2500+ on tickets. For that money, a comfortable seat it the minimum I expect.
What has happened to Virgin
What has happened to Virgin. Staff looked a mes, no uniform as such, only it was red, was it because it was Christmas and they were allowed to wear a Christmas jumper.
Boarded our flight to the Maldives but had to wait approx 50 mins before we could take off. I would have expected a bottle of water on the seat along with the pillow and blanket. Finally when staff could serve, took an age to get a drink.
The food was disappointing.
At one time Virgin Atlantic was on par with Middle Eastern carriers such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, or Etihad Airways, now sadly they are way behind them. I will stick to these companies in future.
Poor customer service

My go to airline
I’m surprised reading some of the reviews for Virgin Atlantic. I always have such a great experience booking and flying with them. The onboard team are particularly excellent. I always feel safe and welcome when flying with them. Always my first choice when booking a flight. I’m just wish they flew to more places.

Family of five returning from the Maldives, travelling Upper Class. Sadly, the experience fell well below expectations.
Service from the Upper Class cabin crew was noticeably slow and lacked warmth. Requests felt uncomfortable to make to the point where even asking for a soft drink felt like an inconvenience. This is not what one expects in an upper class cabin.
The food was disappointing and uninspiring, nowhere near the standard associated with Upper Class travel. Overall, the cabin atmosphere felt indifferent rather than attentive, and certainly not premium.
It’s difficult not to conclude that Virgin Atlantic has lost much of the class and polish it once represented under Richard Branson. When compared with Middle Eastern carriers such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, or Etihad Airways, the difference is stark.
Most tellingly, I recently flew Air India Business Class and the experience was, quite frankly, ten times better warmer service, more attentive crew, and a far superior dining experience.
For a product positioned as Upper Class, this flight simply didn’t deliver.

Don’t waste your time or money on the “new aircraft” that goes from LHR to JFK. The bar has been removed leaving some rubbish seated area right next to the toilet with nothing going on. As for the upgraded cabin experience, it’s poor the older planes on the airline are better.
The food offering on upper was diabolical. I literally didn’t eat for the whole trip.
The staff weren’t up to the usual standard of cabin staff on this flight. They were non existent and really not interested in making it a pleasant flight.
Congratulations Virgin you’ve entered the league that Ryan Air play.
Criminal organisation!
I'm really not surprised they have 1.9 stars. They lost luggage, and they're doing absolutely everything they can to avoid paying compensation. They're going from pillar to post, hoping you'll give up. A criminal organization, that's what they are. Okay, they're saving having to pay compensation, but still get a 1-star review!
Disappointing customer service.
We travel to Orlando every February and bar one trip with British airways, we have always used virgin holidays.
We like the planes and the staff and the overall experience.
This latest booking is a special one and I have tried on several occasions to see what my options are with regards to paying for upgrades.
Between being on hold on the phone or waiting on their online chat, with both virgin holidays and virgin Atlantic I have wasted hours of my life and got absolutely nowhere.
They will just pass you from pillar to post and say that’s nothing to do with them and you need to speak to the other company as they have nothing to do with each other (even though they have the exact same name and work together to provide the same service)
Theo website is like something from the early 2000’s and is far too over complicated and keeps crashing, especially with the online chat function.
I wanted to spend my money with virgin and experience upper class one time in our lives, but I think we will just stay in our economy seats now and I’ll spend my money somewhere else.

Booked flights via Expedia including internal US flight on Delta, added flights to my Virgin App. All flights were Premium Economy looked to book seats on my first flight London to Orlando price per seat was £65 thought I would wait, on 25 December got an email from Virgin about booking seats this time seats were £40 per seat, unfortunately did not have my credit card with me, later that evening again tried to book seats price changed to £75 per seat!

Problems with original booking, the app, website, recognition of email address, membership number, booking reference number, ticket numbers & locator reference number. Due to a problem with the etickets, now having to check in with a piece of paper. Customer service via phone have been friendly but unable to explain any of this. Great first impression 👍

Worst Long Haul Airline
Worst Long Haul Airline! Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Family Christmas Holiday start ruined by a totally avoidable issue! We boarded Heathrow on time and was ready for take off when captain announced left engine had not been inspected so legally we couldn’t take off!! So we de boarded (1st time ever in 35 years for me) then waited for another aircraft to be made ready! So anyway we missed our connection in LAX even though we gave ourselves +3 hours to catch it!
The check in process was poor and long and the food and airline staff were also poor! What has happened to this airline! You should definitely change your TV adverts as that doesn’t tell the reality!
