Please save your money. I was a member for ten years and ONCE I asked for help and they couldn't be bothered to contact me. I repeatedly asked for assistance and they repeatedly ignored me. I made an official complaint and they couldn't be bothered to investigate it or even write to me. They think they are beyond reproach and are totally useless. DO NOT JOIN.

Incapable of supporting with a simple password reset to access member's section on their website.
Zero response to several emails and phone calls over two weeks.
I cancelled my membership after two years with them without having asked for anything ever other than this password reset, as they are incontactable and therefore unlikely to be available for support with anything more important or challenging than a password reset.
I only wish I had discovered this sooner, as I am not sure what I was actually paying my membership fee for.

Been a member over 20 years never used them once, now needed totally useless and not interested..my ssp have been rejected twice as I'm not getting any wages now. Steer well clear of the crooks, better off going private no win no fee!!

I have been joining Unite for over 10 years.I only applied for help twice in all those years.
For the first time in 2023 October.I did as I was advised, although then I mentioned that I work for a bad employer.The consequences were as follows: I was deprived of my duties, which were changed due to my health problem and beautified old ones that cause health problems. I was treated unfairly until finally being denied flexible working hours.Then I submitted a second request for help January 2024.1. How could my flexible work be affected if the company where I do not work moved to another building? 2. Should the employer to change my contact hours within 28 days after accepting my request 3. I tried to explain that there is a consequence after their first advice. It was just a waste of my time ,they won't hear it anyway.I received useless advice.I was still left vulnerable and isolated.
I want to give advice:1.Think twice before making an inquiry.2. Make it very clear if possible because they are not interested in any explanations 3.Think about the consequences you will have afterwards and how it will affect you. 4.Why waste money when you can get the same service for free from Acas.

I had been a member of unite for a year as I work for a particularly dodgy company when it comes to getting paid correctly. The one time I asked them to step in and help me with a dispute over wages all I got was an email a few days later saying they’d be in touch within 48 hours. This was over a week ago. They have no interest in representing you and cost far too much a month considering this.

Don't join they will take your money rob you and never represent you

I will never give these my money ever again.
They are a joke could not come back to me with answers and also they just never give dam

I am not surprised to see 1.4 stars rating. All these on our money we very hard work for.

No one is bothering to reply or look into any of your workplace issues. I have called and emailed North London office numerous times with no response.

Do not get yourself fooled

Why on earth am I paying a monthly subscription and just been charged £26 on my phone bill. To speak to you? Outrageous charges for workers who are naturally already distressed and in need of help, hence the call.

Get them lazy binmen back to work you filthy rats

I am out when they put it up to 15 quid I had a vote on the Council pay rise and it didn't mean nothing got it forced on us there in each others pockets

I'd paid my subs for several years, never expecting to use them but happy to contribute knowing the union's worth through its fight for workers' rights. Of course there are members benefits like discounts on insurance, but building workers' rights were always the main aspect of my reason for joining

When the pandemic hit they were crucial in helping my colleagues and I secure PPE when neither our employer nor the government seemed to care (I worked as a support worker). This win helped keep me, my colleagues, and the people we supported safe. This alone was well worth the cost of the subscription.

My dad was a strong union member all his life serving as shop steward for many years. When he retired he kept his union subscription active as a retired member. Part of the entitlement as a retired member is a claim to receive funeral benefit for their widow/ nominated member as per section G in their policy. Unfortunately this turned out to be untrue when we applied for funeral benefit for my father we were refused and informed the benefit is for members only. Although we live in the North West this decision was made by London area. North west Office insist there is nothing they can do. Therefore my mum who is an 84 year is left to pay for dads funeral in its entirety. To say we are disappointed, and upset is an understatement. Dad would be very dissatisfied and disappointed with the outcome given his loyalty over the years.

I really trusted Unions and joined Unite because I trusted them.
However, after having a breakdown at work, due to bullying, my unite rep and manager did not see past my psychosis and their solicitors Gordon Slater and my rep managed to lose all my evidential paperwork. A year after Slater Gordon recieved the paperwork I sent, they asked for the same paperwork! They had none of my supervision notes! The company refused to send all paperwork and Slater Gordon did not chase it up.
Now, I am very ill. My mental health has gone from bad to worse. I have lost so much weight, I have been so let down and disappointed in Unite. I had to listen to my rep tell a joke at the end of his phonecalls, while standing in a neighbours room full of rotten food. Every time, they are not fit to call themselves a Union! it lasted for three years!

I have just joined and I am facing a disciplinary at work soon. I wanted advice prior to my meeting and called Unite.
Within the hour I had a call from a union rep who was so helpful and he gave me the confidence I needed and answered all my questions.
So glad I decided to join Unite.

Absolutely poor service. Signed up due to a workplace dispute for which I was told I could get all the help needed. After signing up I was then told I could ONLY get advice! On top of that I was told I would get a call within 48 hours with all the right advice. When explaining the situation to the lady who answered she said “no, this is wrong what your company is doing is totally incorrect and I’m glad you contacted us. I will mark this as urgent as you really need to speak to someone so you’re full prepared for your investigation meeting” 3 days later still no call. I then had to go into an investigation meeting fully unprepared and totally scared as I knew what they were doing was unlawful. Unite didn’t bother calling. Why offer services you cannot fulfil? I didn’t even get an apology.

I just needed to know how many days of bank holidays and holidays I was entitled.
I told them first what it was written on my contract.
They only contacted my previous job. Well, of course they would say it was correct.
I wanted to get a refund as they did not reply to my question, and they did not refund it!.

Completely useless organisation - they couldn't even be bothered responding to my emails. You'd be better off burning your money, at least that would generate some heat...

So so bad. Joined because I was being mistreated at work and needed advice but couldn't use their legal advice helpline until I'd been a customer for 3 months. They've been charging me £30 for nothing! When my boss didn't pay me, I asked for some support and all they told me to do was to tell my boss that I'd spoken to my union, this went on for weeks with me asking for support daily. They will do whatever it takes to not do any work. I just called to cancel my membership after I questioned my payments (they don't have any kind of payment schedule or outline in their membership documents) and there was no question 'What happened?, so we can improve our services in future?'... this company don't care and I honestly think it's disgusting to sell yourself as a saviour just to offer nothing once payment has been made.

Waste of money.
Most people are unaware that changes in your contract (reducing your wages for example) can be made on your behalf if there is a collective agreement between the Union and your company and you will have nothing to say. If the union rep is corrupted (or he is a good mate of the boss) he will agree on anything. Without the Union on site I could challenge this unlawful wages drop and I would win but I have been stitched up
