SCAM WARNING.

I recently booked a hire car with EconomyBookings for 10 days from Cagliari, Sardinia, and paid a deposit to confirm it.

I arrived at the agent kiosk they subcontracted it to called SurPrice.

The agent only had two cars, none of which were like the one I had booked, but I agreed to take one of them.

The agent then asked to inspect my credit card - I was uncomfortable about him looking at the back of it and his noting of the security number.

He then said he could not accept the card as it only had 5 months credit before expiry and they required 6 months credit after the rental period.

I have been renting cars every year for 30 years and I’ve never heard of such a ridiculous rule.

I offered another card, which he refused too, he said it was because it did not have embossed numbers on it and he was cancelling my booking and keeping the deposit.

Most credit cards do not use embossed lettering now.

I went to the kiosk next to this agent (called Goldcar) and hired the car I wanted in a few minutes.

EconomyBookings refused to return my deposit and I had to go through my bank to get it done.

These companies, EconomyBooking & SurPrice, have a very bad reputation and the scam is not only theft, it could also ruin your vacation if it happens in the high season, with no other available cars to rent.

I actually had a pretty good experience booking through TripAdvisor, I've heard or saw so many reviews of people saying they thought their hotel was gonna be something different, but I got exactly what I booked and I was very happy. I would use this service again and definitely would recommend.

I have used TripAdvisor alot never had any problems with them at all. I will definitely keep using there services for sure. I have the app actually.

They provide good information to travel

Always check trip advisor before I plan any adventures can always rely on them and the honest reviews.

A terrible review site that as a business owner, is impossible to deal with.

A customer verbally and physically assaults a member of your team and then leaves a one star review.

They also then get several of their mates to also leave one star reviews!

You contact TripAdvisor to get the review(s) taken down but TripAdvisor say no as the review follows their guidelines.

Not a site I give much credence to anymore and i no longer use

TripAdvisor is great!!! When my husband and I travel to various locations they give great info as to the weather, gas prices, lodging, and what's near by. Great source of information.

A great source of info for travellers, always check hotels and tours before traveling. A real travel Wikipedia!

AVOID Business Advantage membership! Sheldon Davis signed me up after promising a link to our business website.

After he took our money and got us under contract, our page had BOOKING.COM front and center as the main booking option!

I was super clear that I was open to paying $94 per month to stop losing 15% commission to an OTA and he mislead me to believe that's what this membership would provide.

What I actually got on the new page was a tiny line for "visit hotel website" and not the giant BOOK button that still lost me 15% commissions via OTA's.

I called Sheldon over and over again - no response.
I canceled by email within 30 days - no response.
Niki Neidhart emailed me when the company couldn't charge my CC anymore and said that I owed per TripAdvisor contract and I replied no - and forwarded my emails with Shelton.

On September 20th her email read "I apologize that the Business Advantage did not provide the results that you expected. Your subscription will become suspended and your Business Advantage will become inactive. Moving forward from today you have been cancelled."

I thought that was the end, but I still get monthly emails that read "Final Notice - Payment Required. According to our records, the following past due invoices remain outstanding:"

On June 5th I emailed John Saia my correspondence with Shelton and Nikki and AND HE TOO stopped responding.

So now I get these past due invoices every month: June, July, August, Septemer etc.. It's ridiculous.

They call you non stop to sign you up for a fake promise and then won't reply to your concerns, try to charge you monthly.

AVOID PAYING FOR TRIP ADVISOR! Stick to reviews. They support BAD business practices that will loop you in for awhile.

Tried to post a review twice. Just a regular positive review. Got my review badge twice. Both times I got a confirmation email and both times it was never published, but instead removed without comment.

Trying to find a feedback or contact function to ask why TripAdvisor is wasting my time without giving any feedback, I thought my time is better invested in writing my feedback right here.

I expected that Trip Advisor, was a site where you can brag about stellar service, or post the horrors that others want to avoid. They banned me because i defended myself but i was able to get posting rights back. Now again, because i responded to a persistent scaremongers (dbabe ,ZippoHippo,trap1 from US Collection Agency after me- I owe for a traffic fine? forum) with a casual "not again...", (something that i would do even to a friend if they were repeating something), when i went to post, i found that my account had been disabled. After censorship, I dropped a complaint against them here for whitewashing comments and closed my account.I was being slandered on the site. I complained, and what was the result?..... TA in fact add to the personal bullying by their actions. and the annoying thing is that TA recently asked for ideas for improvements to the site. and one of the most consistent comments was to take action to stop the abuse and bullying.It seems that they don't listen ! Frankly TA you all seem to be loosers who desperately needs to win. I wish I was a psychiatrist that I might be able to help them. Some people should be pitied ...... . and dbabe,ZippoHippo and trap1 are one of them . My acc removed???........... hahaha! just a tablet click away and, voila!.....remove this scaremongers!!!

かつては旅行者に影響力が高かったが、今はここで口コミを書く人もかなり減ってきている印象です（投稿が簡便なGoogleレビューにユーザーが流れている？）。調べてみたら実際にGoogleは旅行比較サイトのシェアで6割以上を占めているようで、1割台のTAやトリバゴを圧倒しています（TA自体がGoogleレビューに自社サイト上の口コミ情報を提供しています。自社の大事なコンテンツを提供し、Googleの土俵に乗らざるを得ない点で、その斜陽ぶり・影響力低下は明らかです）。
　これはGoogleがその巨大な力をショッピングや旅行予約分野など検索以外の分野にも向け始めており、TAなどの専業サイトが煽りを食らっている印象です。例えるなら、カメラ・音楽・時計機能を持つスマホが、デジカメや携帯音楽機器や腕時計を駆逐するようなものでしょうか。GAFA恐るべし。
　Googleの口コミは玉石混交な部分もある点がマイナス。ただ、あえて旅行口コミに特化したTAへ移動しなくても検索画面から直に一定程度の数のレビューや投稿写真が閲覧できるだけに、より使いやすく感じるし、TAが不要に思えてくるのも確か。パソコンからじっくりレビューを読むのなら、TAの方が強いかもしれない。あと、海外のレストランやホテルの情報はこれまでの蓄積が有る分、強みではある。

　ただ、TAも近年意味不明な仕様変更が目立つ。突然ＳＮＳのようなタイムラインを作ってユーザーを困惑させています。殆ど投稿者はいません。一体この変更は何の為でしょうか。また、これまでトラベラーズチョイスアワードなる優秀施設に送られる希少な最高大賞が有り、ミシュランの星と同じく、ホテルやレストランが受賞するのを切望し、受賞施設は旅行者の憧れとなっていました。ミシュランほどではないにせよ、これには大きなブランド価値が確実に存在しました。しかし、変更によりこの賞を多くの施設に拡大してしまい、そのブランド価値も消滅してしまいました（オリンピックで例えるなら、突然、次の大会から金メダルを上位10,000位の選手まで与える、と変更するようなものです。このような変更では観客も選手も金メダルに憧れなくなりますし、オリンピックの価値も暴落するでしょう）。

　上記は一例ですが、近年のTAの方策は迷走につぐ迷走を続けており、ユーザーと宿泊・飲食施設の双方からそっぽを向かれつつあるのではないかと危惧しています。残念ながら近い将来にGoogleが予約機能やオンライン予約サイトの機能を搭載し、TAやオンライン予約サイトを淘汰する事は必至でしょう。

　旅行口コミサイトとしては旅行記タイプの4travelが日本人には合っている気がします（あくまで個人の意見です）。もしくは、一定の能力を持った調査員が、一定の評価基準で評価するミシュランガイドなどを優先したい。
　感じたことを辛口で評価してみましたが、自社サイト上でレストランやホテルの酷評レビューを普通に掲載している会社だけに、全く問題ないでしょう。口コミサイトとして、正面から改善に取り組んでくれると思います。

Sadly we are in the midst of unravelling the reservations for our six week long trip to UK and Spain at end of this month. Hotels and car hire were easy under normal cancellation processes, but the rentals are another story. TripAdvisor has been a star in this regard. Their Vacation Rentals website offers no nonsense cancellation and full refunds for bookings up to July 31,2020. And it works! Other bookings made through large and small booking agencies are painful, no refunds and they moan on about their owners decisions, only vouchers being offered, etc.etc. Bear in mind our flights are cancelled and parts of the country in which we live still under lockdown: uk quarantine procedures also apply to us so no way can we travel. Thank you TripAdvisor. I know where I will be booking in the future.
