I had an amazing time during my ‘African Wildlife Sanctuary’ trip in Namibia. We did a bunch of exciting animal based activities that prioritise the rehabilitation of sick, injured and problematic wildlife. Totally travel was extremely helpful the whole way through. From finding the best prices to even helping us book flights, they were just a message away at all times if we needed some assistance. Highly recommend going through Totally travel due to the personalised support.

This experience was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I can’t recommend it enough. From start to finish, I had the most incredible time and learned so much. The program was hands-on, which I absolutely loved—each day was completely different, ranging from tracking animals on the reserve to feeding and caring for them, and even participating in surgeries on wild animals. I also had the chance to be involved in immobilizing animals and conducting health checks, all of which gave me a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation.

The entire experience really opened my eyes to the complexities of conservation efforts and the challenges of human-wildlife conflict. The presentations provided throughout the program were incredibly informative and gave great insight into the critical work being done to protect Namibia's wildlife. The passion and dedication of everyone involved was inspiring, and it made me even more eager to continue learning and contributing to this field.
The food, accommodation, and staff exceeded my expectations. The team was so welcoming, and the support from Matt at Totally Travel was invaluable—he provided all the information we needed and was always available to help with any questions or issues. I 100000% plan to return and continue my journey in wildlife conservation. If you’re looking for an immersive, educational, and truly unique veterinary experience, this is the place to be!

The Teaching Buddhist Monks in Nepal trip was just as amazing, exciting and heartwarming as I had hoped it would be if not more, teaching the monks was a fantastic experience and so was the insight into the monastic life and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested. The accomodation during the introduction week was great, with the accomodation at the monastery being more modest and simple in comparison. The meals provided throughout the trip were all very good quality and mainly consisted of vegetarian or meatless dishes that were all very good. I found the support from Totally Travel to be really good pre- trip and in country and I felt safe knowing I could contact them or the local guides if needed.

I absolutely loved my time in Namibia! I can’t even begin to explain the amazing experiences I had and the memories I made. From daily walks with the baboons, to making enrichment toys for the cheetahs, watching wild elephants and tracking lions! It was all so amazing. I got to meet so many people from all over the world and made some new lifelong friends. I can’t recommend it enough! The accomodation at the sanctuary was a basic tent with an outdoor bathroom. It was comfortable and you got to hear the calls of wild Jackals and baboons through the night which was so cool! The accomodation at Timbila was very nice and you even got to have you own private room. The meals were very nice and they cater to vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diets too.

Had an amazing trip! The team helped support me before and made sure I was prepared by answering every question I had and providing loads of info. The volunteering was amazing and I learnt so much. It gives you such a unique experience whilst ensuring an ethical approach. I met so many fun people there that I continued to do some travel with. Thank you!

My two-week veterinary experience in Namibia was a remarkable journey that deepened my passion for wildlife conservation. Working closely with Africa's diverse wild animals allowed me to witness their majestic beauty and intricate behaviors up close. Each day brought new challenges, from monitoring health to participating in rescue operations, which not only enhanced my veterinary skills but also fostered a profound respect for the delicate balance of ecosystems. The opportunity to collaborate with dedicated local professionals and learn about their efforts in conservation was inspiring, reinforcing my commitment to protecting these incredible creatures and their habitats. Overall, this experience was not just a professional endeavor; it was a transformative adventure that left a lasting impact on my career and perspective on wildlife preservation.

10/10 Volunteering at green lion was one of the best experiences i’ve done. not only did i get the chance to meet so many new people but i got the opportunity to be a part of the turtle conservation project. we got to catch crabs, feed the turtles and clean their tanks as well as a lot of free time to do you’re own thing. But the highlight was releasing them at the end of the week and watching them swim to the ocean. accommodation was very clean and they come in twice a day to keep it clean. showers and bathrooms were great. They always had so many options when it came to meals and it was nice to try new local foods. I always felt safe and had a great time. the staff and coordinators were so helpful especially when it comes to planning and organising further travels and days off.

Trip of a lifetime! Every part of this trip was phenomenal and a once-in-a lifetime experience. We started off with the vet experience in Namibia which was incredible and a great way to see wildlife up close and have experiences with these animals that you would not be able to get anywhere else. We sedated and health checked five male lions, two cheetahs and a hyena - every part of this experience was incredible and life changing. The second half of our trip was just as great. We spent two weeks travelling and camping through Southern Africa. We were able to meet amazing people from all across the world and experience many different parts of Africa including seeing the big 5 in the wild.

Just fulfilled a long-held dream: solo traveling to Costa Rica to volunteer at a sea turtle hatchery. Spent 10 incredible days immersed in Pacuare, a remote location accessible only by a 45-minute boat ride through the Pacuare River. Nights were spent patrolling 10km of the beach for Leatherbacks, Loggerheads, Greens, and Hawksbills, sometimes in the pouring rain. Witnessing these magnificent creatures laying eggs was simply magical. On my first night, I helped collect eggs and took data from a Leatherback – they are MASSIVE! On my final night, my patrol buddy and I found a Green! Laying belly down in the sand, drenched in the pouring rain, collecting eggs next to this magnificent Green turtle in the heart of Costa Rica is an experience I'll treasure forever. We also had shifts in the hatchery where all the babies hatched! Witnessing the process from collecting eggs on the beach, to nurturing them in the hatchery, to releasing them into the ocean was truly incredible. The hatchery boasts a success rate of 75%-80%, a testament to this organization’s dedication. Amidst the work that we did, there were also many moments of joy and bonding, from spirited volleyball games to dance-filled nights under the stars, to many many card games, to pure belly laughs. I couldn’t have done it without the help of Matt from Totally Travel. Matt was so incredibly patient with all of the questions that I had leading up to the trip and was so insightful on all things info-related. He truly made planning this trip so smooth and easy. I would highly highly recommend booking with Totally Travel to all my friends and family. Matt truly took great care of me. Forever grateful for this transformative adventure!

I had an amazing experience and really enjoyed learning the locals culture on top of helping the turtles! What they do here at Green Lion is really special and I’m very grateful that I was able to help even for just a week. I enjoyed how they really try and educate you about the turtles in the conservation and why they’re helping them. My highlights: 1) batik painting class (intro week) 2) surfing (adventure week) 3) holding a baby turtle and cleaning it with a toothbrush

Zimbabwe Veterinary Experience inc Botswana tour 10/10
I had the most amazing time. Beginning with a tour through Botswana allowed our group to understand the landscape, the culture and the wildlife better. We were privileged to have seen so many incredible animals such as Rhino, Lions (only a metre away!!), Zebra, Giraffes, Elephants, etc.
The family at Chipangali were the kindest people who welcomed us and made us feel comfortable and safe. The work was hard but felt incredibly beneficial not only to the life project of the Wilson family but also to the welfare of the animals. Accommodation was great, meals were so delicious! I think Matt at Totally Travel was fantastic and was incredibly helpful with booking and any queries.

Namibia Veterinary Experience 10/10
This trip was the most amazing thing I have ever done. I knew it would be amazing but it just exceeded every expectation in ever day. Getting to work so hands on with so many amazing animals, and seeing how much they do for the conversation of animals and the environment, and making so many new friends who are all so similar from different parts of the world. Can’t wait to go back already!
Highlights:
Doing the vet check on the carnivore - we did a spotted wild dog
The week at TimBila was amazing - specifically tracking the lions
Going out to rescue a hyena from a trap and release it onto the reserve.
Going for a horse ride through the reserve and seeing giraffes, zebras, ostriches and more.

A truly humbling trip of a life time. 'Your family in Bali' are the words constantly emphasised by the coordinators. If you ever need help with anything they are there for you. As a solo female traveller, I have never felt safer abroad. My fellow volunteers are new friends that I will cherish forever, I only wish I could stay longer. Introduction week was a blast and you experience the real and authentic Bali. To be a small part of the early life so many turtles and to be a part of a turtle release is the most surreal experience. The turtle sanctuary in Nusa Penida is expanding and welcomes many volunteers from all walks of life. I cannot recommend it highly enough! Terima Kasih

South Africa Veterinary Experience
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip. The reserve and staff were amazing! Accommodation was absolutely excellent. Really enjoyed getting so close to the big african animals. Dream come true 😍 Highlights - Trimming lions nails, giving zebra an IM injection. School feeding.

Had the best time! everyone was so helpful and accommodating, great at making us feel safe for our first time solo travelling overseas. made friends for life here! So safe, very good locations and staff, accomodation very clean and simple, food can get a little repetitive but tasty. Highlights - releasing turtles into the wild, snorkel trip of gammat bay and white water rafting.

My 17 year old daughter spent a week at the turtle sanctuary in Bali.
Matt was extremely supportive and guided us through the booking process. She not only gained skills, but made friends from all over the world. They remain in contact and recently met up while visiting locally. The coordinators were extremely supportive and always concerned for the volunteers wellness and safety. It was truly a fantastic experience that she loved! We would love to book through Matt again!

This was a trip of a lifetime! Everything was absolutely magical. From the booking process to the experience itself. Matt was extremely helpful the whole way through from enquiry to booking and kept in contact whilst we were on our trip. Leaving with memories that we will cherish for a lifetime.

The time with the sanctuary and Timbila were amazing. However our highlight was certainly Timbila. Theo our research coordinator was absolutely amazing.

Big 5 Veterinary Experience 10/10
​I highly recommend anyone with a passion for animals to do the big 5 veterinary experience! It was amazing to witness the animals in their natural environment and also have the ability to work with them! It was also great to learn about the management of both the reserve and the animals, as well as different capturing techniques etc. In addition, the staff were welcoming and happy to answer any questions you had. The accommodation and meals were great and the highlights of the trip were collecting blood from elephants, putting foot collars on rhinos and darting and transporting buffalo.

African Wildlife Sanctuary, Namibia 10/10
Our trip to Namibia was the greatest experience I have ever been apart of. From taking measurements of a lionesses paws, to taking the baboons for a walk, every experience was one that I will never forget. The people at the Sanctuary are the most amazing and nicest people I have ever met and I cannot wait to go back and experience it all over again. The accommodation was great! Better than we expected. We had actual beds and power in our tents, as well as hot water in our shower! The food was also great, as they varied the meals every day to suit everyone. The food was always delicious!
Matt from totally travel made this experience as great as it possible could have been, planning every detail for us, taking the stress out of travelling. We will truly be forever grateful for the experience that Totally Travel created for us!
