Do NOT work with this company!
Do NOT work with this company. They do not work proactively for you and charge outrageous fees! The amount they so call negotiate for you is only doubled because of the fees they charge. They do not explain things, you constantly have to hound them to do what they promised. Once you sign the contract, you won't hear from them again. You are better off negotiating with the credit card companies directly or find another agency.
Misrepresentation from the start
Misrepresentation from the start. Said they were going to add debts that I found out later that they could not. Told me it would not affect my wife's credit and it did so we had to take some debt off of the program, but I am still having to pay the same amount even though $8K was removed from original debt quote. Did not negotiate with some creditors for over a year allowing the debts to double in amounts, then want to pat themselves on the back for getting a 50% reduction, so I have to pay the full debt anyway. Told me i could pay off a debtor early so I paid an extra $1000 to pay it off, then they say they made a mistake and I have to pay another year. I am paying $32K to settle $36K of debt, and crashed my credit score from high 700's to the 500's
total scam
total scam, 4 years they promise the moon and have done little if anything to help me out with this tax problem. They talk down to you a a client, continue to ask for more monies and blame the IRS for their incompetence, don't hire them,
The worst
I have paid 86% of my total agreed to amount, and they have settled 42% of debt that was signed up with them. The lawyers they use settle for ridiculous amounts of money - more than you owed originally -I could have done better on my own, in fact in the past I have. I have two separate accounts that have put garnishments on me while I signed up for this service. This was the worst decision and I am trying to figure out how to get out of it.
Helpful... But!
I have been with this company since 2018 and i finally was able to get all my accounts settled in 2022... 4 years later. It all started out great other than the fees being quite high but its expected with companies like this. Now that all accounts are settled based on the settlement quote I received from the representatives i sent the amount needed to complete the program and 2 months later my account still was opened and I wondered why. Come to find out the completion quote I received was incorrect (statement made by Rep) and they want me to pay the remaining $540.00 due to an error on their part. Definitely not happy about this turn of events in the process especially since this was 2 months ago and they just now letting me know they screwed up. Hopefully they will be able to rectify this and make it right.
Financial Institute of this nature are a scam and should be illegal.
We entered into a contract with Timberline Financial to avoid Bank Ruptcy. We agreed on the amount of money we were to pay each month to payoff 5 accounts. They said that they needed more money to payoff the accounts, so we increased the amount. I am within 6 months of completing the 4 year contract and only 3 of the 5 accounts have been cleared. This company is nothing but a scam. They associate with a Financial Institute that charges me every time they hear my name. This whole idea of helping someone get out of debt is no debt management involved. They are strictly interested in getting money at others misfortune.
Been in the program since 2018
Been in the program since 2018, not all creditors we're negotiated with, payments skipped, still thousands of dollars due and horrendous fees! I have checked my credit report, some accounts are not even showing on the three reports and 2 are charged off. Not giving these people another dime!

Misrepresentation
Misrepresentation, still in the program..they have two accounts to settle for me, one of which took over a year to get any information on, the second one still waiting. I made a lump payment, and they’re taking their time to pay the creditors.
BRING BACK KAMI
Be careful
Be careful, four years ago in early 2018 they made some promises to me which they have not lived up to. I am now at four years of payments with only 3 out of four accounts settled and still with $10,000 of un-negotiated debt with Chase. They had not been able to negotiate the debt down sufficiently to be able to pay it off with my payments. I have paid on time every month. Yet they still took a 25% fee and did not tell me the bad situation until I called four months before the program is supposed to end. Tyler the service rep had no sympathy and basically coldly washed his hands of any company responsibility for lack of performance on their part. They still got their fees and I’m still in a hole with no offer of help from them to finish doing what they promised they could do.
This has been the worst experience I've…
This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a company they lie and act all nice when you enroll. Then never return calls or emails charge you wrong amounts and now after my acct was complete 4 months later they drafted a payment from my account again. DO NOT TRUST THEM!

The best decision I ever made!
This program is very accommodating and is giving me my life back. Sara Schoolcraft has been working with me to ensure my program is successful. All communication is excellent with Timberland but Sara's communication is above and beyond! Forever grateful!

Still in the program and having issues…
Still in the program and having issues settling a debt that was $10k. They came to me with a settlement offer more than 10k 3 months after creditors back in April sent me an offer for settling at $4,300 dollars. It is now October and I've been trying to settle for $4,300, which is now $5300, as a one-time payment for 2 weeks now. Still waiting on their approval for the settlement. Not the creditors, not my approval, Timberline approval after they have my voice recorded approving the transaction for that settlement. I am also trying to call them on Monday Oct 18th at 5:30pm eastern and it says the office is closed, their answering machine says open till 8pm! I gave 2 stars because the program could work better if I wasn't worried every week on whether or not my accounts are being worked on.

I signed up to Timberline several years…
**Update - After posting this review on Trustpilot, someone from Timberline reached out and corrected the issue**
I signed up to Timberline several years ago to help lower my debt. Their plan did impact my credit but they were able to negotiate most of my debts to a lower amount as promised. However, there are 3 major problems I am having with Timberline:
1. I have paid off all my debts in the Timberline program & all the money was pulled out of my checking account. However, Timberline has not made the final 2 payments to my final creditor despite taking the money out of my account months ago. Their agents said the problem was due to an upgrade in their systems. On Friday 9/17/21 I was also told that the creditor had reclaimed my debt so everything needed to be renegotiated, so I called the creditor. They told me this was false & that they were just waiting on Timberline to make the final payments. I need Timberline to make the payments to my creditor ASAP.
2. Their customer service is very bad. They don’t respond to emails, return calls as promised, & the agents will not elevate my problem to the management level regardless of how many times the problem has occurred without resolution. Every time I speak to a new rep, I get a different answer to my problem. Even if I call 4 days in a row (which I did this week). I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with a creditor but one of their VPs got involved and fixed the issue very fast. This is no longer the case. Something has definitely changed within the management ranks.
3. They make claims that the settlement offers can have wording in it that prevents recourse from the creditors, this is not true. There are no promises to delete records after the debt is paid. There is also no wording in these settlements to help with your credit in any way regardless of what is discussed ahead of time. If it is not written on the original contract that you sign, they will NOT do it. Make sure everything is in writing if you choose to do business with them!
Overall, Timberline can save you time by negotiating on your behalf, but it is not anything you cannot do yourself if you have time. If their customer service was good, this would be a good service. But based on the frontline employees, this company does not care about serving its customers.

We were taken advantage of. Credit scores destroyed.
We were taking advantage of. We have NEVER missed any payments and HAD credit scores in the low 800's. Timberline took thousands of dollars and put it in an escrow. Meanwhile, they told us they were negotiating with the 3 creditors. We did not seek their help because we couldn't pay our bills. We just thought it would be nice to save a few hundred dollars a month and we were clear about all that up front. We kept getting call from the creditors and were repeatedly told to ignore the calls. Additionally, they told us the if by chance we speak with a creditor that we were to tell them that we had fallen into financial hardship which is an absolute lie and Timberline knew that. They had all our credit information and knew we were in great financial standing. They kept telling us they had sent documents to the creditors which the creditors said they had never seen. I repeatedly asked to see the documents that they supposedly sent and I was passed from person to person and never received these documents. We finally asked for our money back but by that time our credit was destroyed and dropped to the mid 500's. We cannot even buy a car now. They completely destroyed our financial freedom!

Thank you for the email. I asked for the documents you have sent to the
debtors but you didn’t provide them. We received a call from Discover Card
today and they told us they have no record of you reaching out or
corresponding. Please send me what you sent them. This is getting
ridiculous.

We do send your appropriate creditors Power of Attorney letters at the
beginning of the program. However, this may not deter them from contacting
you.
The original creditors do have a legal right to make attempts to collect
on the debt as they feel it's easier to try and communicate with you
directly to have you pay. We cannot prevent your creditors from reaching
out to you. We advise our clients not to speak with creditors, so you
*DON'T* have to answer their phone calls. Talking with a creditor can
impact future agreements between your creditors and us. If by chance you
happen to speak with them, you can tell them, "*I have fallen into
financial hardship. I am reviewing my payment options based on my budget
and other obligations. Please contact me only in writing from now on*",
then politely hang up. As we go forward with you into the program, the
phone calls will begin to decrease.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Client
Services by phone. We are available 9 am-8 pm EST, Monday-Friday.

Hello,
My name is Todd Davenport. My wife Amanda and I are signed up with you to
consolidate some debt. We have been with the program for 4 months now and
we continue to get emails and calls from the 3 debtors we are
consolidating. We are getting worried that our credit may be damaged in
this process or worse. Can you please send me the documentation showing
your correspondence with these 3 debtors so that we can have something to
provide them and also have some peace of mind that things are getting done.

So far so good....
So I am fairly new to the program (since March 15th, 2021). I did have some concerns with creditors contacting me with the verbiage they used; however Becca thoroughly explained the process and answered all my questions. She also gave me a lot of confidence for my moving forward with this program as they have worked with my creditors before. With that said, I am hoping for favorable results in the next 3-5 months and will update my review then.. Thank you Becca. I'll be asking for you in the future.

DO NOT TRUST!!!
When I left Timberline (my major debts had already been negotiated) they did not provide me with my settlement details, despite my prompting. I was told the settlements would still be valid. However, without the details from Timberline in writing, the creditors claimed the negotiated settlements invalid as they were with Timberline, not me. Thus, Timberline gave me fraudulent details and I am now facing legal actions. I have contacted Timberline multiple times about this and was supposed to be contacted by a manager. However, that never occurred.

Sorry I forgot the Lady's name but she was so patient and helpful. She stayed with me while I navigated though my phone to download documents and help me reset my password. I stayed on the phone for the survey but never got any response about the survey. All I heard was silence so I hung up.
