I attended the “Ladies Who Lift” class run by Aaron on Monday at The Gym Group in Hastings. The class is described as a supportive community for women who want to learn how to weight train properly, and it absolutely lived up to that.

Having not been to a gym for many years, I found it a really great session to get back into things. Aaron was supportive, encouraging, and made everyone feel at ease from the start. His instructions were clear and easy to follow, which made a big difference to my confidence.

I left the session with far more knowledge than I had going in, and feeling genuinely motivated to keep coming back to the gym thanks to his guidance and expertise.

The Hastings gym is soo bad you’ve got an old guy who works there who stars at young girls here seen a few time. doing it he threatens people talks to them with disrespect his name is roary sweetlove and the other worker Ben I don’t know why his work in at Hastings when rumours say he got kicked out of eastboune because everyone complained about him sort your shitty pedo staff out

I’ve waited a year to review my gym to give a fair account. First some positives staff are permanently cleaning, hoovering in to the machine corners and never seem to be slacking. They are the sort of people any business owner would want in the company. Also though they are on hand to assist. I have not seen the typical over subscription in January and machines are usually available but also be ready to adapt during busier times. Afternoons attract a younger crowd and they help the atmosphere as they tend to workout in groups it’s more of a social for them maybe they gym needs somewhere for them to hang out post workout.
Showers aren’t all that. Loads of running machines.
I don’t like how the staff tend to clear up “lost property” almost instantly and it would appear throw it away or err “give to charity “ even after 24 hours in a locker!
There are no real gym bro types giving it the big in. (Well maybe a couple) but there is a general friendly feeling with people just getting on with their workout.evenings can be a bit more boisterous near the big boy free weights. As a business model the keycard makes it easier to come in and be anonymous , figure the machines out your self. Good mix of ages and male/female so that helps foster a better atmosphere.Maybe the workout mats could be cleaner but that’s kind on us users . Weighing machine and some over priced vending machines that I’ve not seen anyone use.
Music is fine just generic and I’m old so can’t really comment !
They do have classes some instructors great the odd one hands in pockets type thing but you will find the better ones.
All in all good value and I’m happy paying, just bring a padlock and don’t put anything down it will be lost property in under a minute.

As i was moving away end of the month from the area i cancelled my membership. So i paid at the beginning of the month then a few days later went to gym. And my features had been disabled so couldn't enter the gym. When I used the intercom to explain the situation and explained I had paid the person wouldn't let me in as I couldn't be verified. So basically paid for a service I cant use.

The pros of this gym are that it’s affordable, fairly well-equipped (though I emphasize "fairly"), very clean, and in a convenient location.

The cons, however, are significant. It’s by far the most oversubscribed gym I’ve ever been to. Hastings simply doesn’t have enough gyms in the area, and The Gym Group doesn’t seem to control membership numbers at all. No matter what time you go—I’ve tried every possible time of day—it’s always packed. The lowest headcount I’ve seen is around 50, with the highest reaching about 135. Since the gym isn’t large, it starts feeling crowded at just 40 people.
As I mentioned, it’s fairly well-equipped, but there are drawbacks. For instance, there’s only one Smith machine, and they host numerous classes right in the center of the gym due to limited space. This often makes the place feel even more congested.
Another issue, unlike anything I’ve encountered elsewhere, is how frequently they close the gym for entire days for "refurbishment." In my opinion, it happens too often to be justified—especially since, upon returning, you’d struggle to notice what’s changed that warranted a full-day closure. This occurs multiple times a year, something I haven’t seen other gyms do.
Overall, this gym doesn’t offer a great experience. If a major competitor like Anytime Fitness or Pure Gym opened in the town center, I suspect The Gym Group’s membership here would drop by half overnight.

What a s**t hole

It’s one of the best gym in Hastings.
It’s open 24 hrs. I can go to gym on my free time.

Equipments are very good.

The Gym Group is the worst gym I have ever used!People are allowed to sit on equipment while using their phones while the staff just walk by oblivious to the inconvenience being caused.I've had to train nearby to people making phone calls,video calls,on social media etc while I stand to one side waiting for them to finish.I only use this gym because it's cheap but I'm paying the price in another way!I absolutely hate the place and if a gym opens locally that bans phones and is as cheap,I'll be off like a shot!Appalling place!

Hastings branch not fit for purpose and over priced. only 3-4 people can fit in changing room at one time and this is also the toilet and shower so always overcrowded. A lot of equipment is missing compared to other locations. No long pull anywhere only the small cable machines so can’t do cable crucifix flys or anything like that as too small. Gym always over crowded and no room. Feel really let down by the Gym group for what I have paid compared to other locations which seem to have a lot more room and for a lower price.
