LOVELY CLEAN GYM, AND A GREAT MANAGER!

I've read other reviews, and I find it shocking, just how particular some people are?! I've really enjoyed the experience, every single time I've visited the Bournemouth gym. Emma is great, really knowledgeable and very personable and friendly also! The gym is clean and well kept, so what are all the poor reviews on about, as they're far from accurate?!

The gym is well equipped

The gym is well equipped, ample and bright. The problem in Bournemouth is that there is no much room to put your mat, do abs, strechs or yoga if you are not using machines, as they installed a sled drag that takes over all room that was available. The only part available is were classes take place so you can only use it late at night and is small anyway.
The main issue with this gym is that, if you need to cancel your membership, you must cancel the direct debit and automatically your pin will be disabled, even if you have not used the whole month you will be blocked to enter, as you need to cancel 5 working days before next payment day, which could be one week that you won't be able to use the gym, even it was paid for. This is a big flaw.
Another problem is that as soon as you join The gym, they pester you with unsolicited text messages, offering you to join! I complaint once and nothing was done, I kept receiving texts. Customer services can be slow.
I cancelled as I will be away for a couple of months, probably will go to another gym next.

Good manager, but uninterested staff

Good manager (Emma) tries really hard, let down by other staff but holds the place together.
Equipment is ok, generally clean but if Emma isn't in then you have no chance of even seeing any other staff unless it's out the front smoking!

this gym is in a great location but the following lets it down!!
Manager - rarely there and nothing gets fixed in the gym it is always ongoing
Deputy manager - cancels classes last minute and then does nothing in the gym
Young trainers - hungover (they even tell us), no enthiasm, cleary do not want to be there
Things always broken - either the gym cannot be bothered to get it fixed or the managers just are not on it with the issues
No cleaning spray or wipes - Not everyone brings a towel and plus you use a towel for wiping your own sweat not someone elses, so cross contamination with germs

Bournemouth is very poor but others pretty good

I would rate 4 stars but I’m so unhappy with my home gym at Bournemouth as the cardio kit is so old & clunky - not good for older members trying to keep mobile through injury and arthritis. Bournemouth also has poor hygiene - the male changing rooms often reek of urine. The Bournemouth gym manager is unresponsive to constructive criticism & negative feedback and disengaged entirely from the conversation. I’m considering moving to Puregym just because of it.

Other than Bournemouth I would give a 4 star rating. My other gym I use often at Streatham is pretty good with a friendly environment and kit is rarely broken. I like the flexibility to use other branches nationally and I’ve generally found the facilities pretty good. Bournemouth lets the side down badly. I have to use that one regularly whenever I visit my elderly dad. I’m considering moving to Puregym just because of it.

I have recently joined this gym

I have recently joined this gym, I took subscription for yanga sports water but I couldn’t access it at the gym as it is showing invalid pincode. There’s no gym member to ask for help and I called the help and support but I couldn’t get help. There is no one to assist you after 7pm.

I’m very disappointed at Bournemouth…

I’m very disappointed at Bournemouth Gym. It is supposed to be open 365 days but it is getting a habit to close the gym more often than we expect. We already had the gym closed for three weeks last year and we were refunded for only two weeks. Today is closed again and it has been the same seems the last years. I’m seriously thinking in changing gym. I am fed up.

Denied entry

I was denied entry after upgrading to a standard membership from an off peak one. I showed up to workout but when I tried to enter, the pin wouldn’t work. I then looked through my emails to see if there was any information on a transition period for this upgrade to occur; there was none. Although they had charged me the money for the upgrade, they weren’t letting me in the gym. I had sent an email to customer service after this hoping for a resolution and all I got was an automated response- no real person, no resolution and nothing helpful. I have now sent another email and yet no response. Very disappointing especially now that I’m paying more for their services (that I clearly can’t access).

THE GYM GROUP BOURNEMOUTH; THE BEST GYM GROUP I’VE EVER COME. ACROSS

The Gym group Bournemouth is a fanatic gym Centre for people of all different backgrounds and lifestyles. My visits since 2023 has been a pleasure and fun. I will recommend there is more room for improvement and it can be transformed into a top 5star Gym when all the male room lockers are well inspected and all broken ones maintained (repaired). I’ve been with this gym for the past 7…

I’ve been with this gym for the past 7 years and now cancelled my membership.
The price is not worth it as they close it every month for 3 ish days to “clean” but it looks the same. Equipment is always broken for months on end. The vibe of this gym used to be 10/10, but not anymore. Only the OG’s will know about this.
I’ll be joining 3F gym from now on.

Will be nice to fix the door that has…

Will be nice to fix the door that has not been working for over two months, is annoying ….. apparently nobody care about it and one of the personal trainers was joking when i was asking when the door wil be fixed…….

Very bad gym.no cleanliness.No respect…

Very bad gym in bournemouth.no cleanliness.No respect from Manager.No gym staffs available after 5 PM though it is mentioned as 24 hrs gym.They never clean their machines.very poor maintenance.Overall very bad gym.

Now completely unhygienic environment

The cleaning station has recently been removed. The cardio machines are disgusting. Everybody sweats and there is nothing to clean the machines with, they don't get cleaned regularly and members who bring some old and possibly dirty towels from home just spread germs around. The Gym Group is probably the least hygienic gym in Dorset.

Having cleaning stations has resulted in a significant increase in the amount of paper waster and we are focussed on minimising our waste as part of our commitment to Net-Zero.

We are proud to be the very first Carbon Neutral Gym Chain in the UK. This is just a part of our efforts, for example we are also taking steps to reduce the amount of single use plastics in our vending machines.

The gym is well equipped

The gym is well equipped, i’m also very impressed with the changing facilities. The staff are very professional and the manager Emma couldn’t do enough to help when i was unsure of certain equipment.

Dirty and smell

I have been joining this Gym for 5 years or more, but lately I don’t feel comfortable.
Literally stinks when you enter.
No AC, steams along the big windows that creates condensation and water on the floor and walls.
Toilets left uncleaned for days. Poo everywhere; I had to stop my workout and leave the gym as I needed to pee but was too disgusting. I used to see cleaners around during my workouts but I don’t see none in the last months.
I have seen staff, not sure if was the manager but other people said she was the manager, using the toilet and ignoring the poo. Lockers have never been cleaned, I have noticed spelt coffee in one of them for months. And is still there.
Gym is not an office, cleaning is essential.
Unacceptable, looking for a new gym as is really unacceptable.

Awful smell / no air?

I have been going to this gym for over ten years but have to comment on this. Last night (27 Feb) the smell of body odour/sweat in the gym was disgusting. From the moment I arrived I could hardly breathe and couldn’t wait to get out into the fresh air. I don’t know if the air con was broken but it needs addressing. Not experienced before in all my time of going.

A Complete Game Changer !!

I joined The Gym Group in Bournemouth a couple of months ago, and I have to say that my experience has been nothing short of amazing.

His expertise, patience, and unwavering support have been instrumental in boosting my gym confidence and helping me achieve my fitness goals. It's rare to find a personal trainer who genuinely cares about your progress, and Owen is a shining example of that commitment.
