This is not the lovely company and staff I knew and used for years .The bargain prices are because the administrators are in . The poor remaining staff are over worked. This was a lovely company and I will sadly miss them.

My order arrived in total today.
I ordered on the 29th February with delivery in 10 days!
3 phone calls later
5 weeks later
Today 3 boxes arrived with all my ordered items.
I had given up on anything arriving

Ordered with priority delivery. £6.95 for up to 48 hours. 4 days later and not even a shipping email. Their website has closed down as has all their social media accounts. Very suspicious. Not getting replies to emails either. Understandably there are delays at the minute but don’t offer next day delivery if you can fulfil it and certainly don’t close down all your social media.

Have faith- there’s hope!
They seem to be keeping their word and honouring orders... one of our very large (5 boxes) order arrived today. We couldn’t believe it! They always stated they had the stock and it was a distribution and staff issue, and they have now closed their website and are focusing on getting orders out. The administrators are PwC, a reputable company. I share others anxiety, especially in current market, as we have one more large order of mainly educational books- needed even more for homeschooling. I believe they will honour this. The wait’s not ideal, and when we ordered it wasn’t clear they were in administration, or that it would take so long. But we are where we are. I hope the fact orders are going out now gives others hope.
Remember people often only review when they are angry and have a bad experience, so many more are possibly getting orders too and not reporting it on review sites, especially with all the other issues going on.
Thank you to all the staff at the BookPeople who were polite, caring and as helpful as they could be whenever we called over the years, even at the end when their jobs were cut.

Placed a large order beginning of February for my daughters birthday presents for 18th march. Order still not been sent out on 30 March. Rather annoyed to say the least. No response to email

after been waiting 5 weeks finally received books . Thank you so much for recent years service. So sad nowhere cheaper to buy . Wish everyone all the best

I placed 2 orders back in the middle of February, delivery stated 4 weeks. So far I have received one item. I totally understand delays due to covid etc, but please give us the option of cancellation. Your website now says 7 weeks, as many of the items were for birthday presents that are now imminent I no longer need the order but do need the money.

I had read some bad reviews recently, however my experience has always been excellent so I had no doubts this time either.
Deliveries were always quick. Recently delivery time has gone up, but my delivery arrived exactly when it was intended.
I expect with the massive price cuts they are receiving huge amounts of orders with half the staff. My confirmation email took a while to arrive, but as expected it did.
The books I received were immaculate and as described, an absolute steal for what I paid.

Like many others I placed an order on the 1st March and 4 weeks later I haven’t had a dispatch email. I have chased twice for a status update with no response. I have now logged a dispute with PayPal also. Which I will close if my items arrive. I will add when I ordered the delivery period was not at 4 weeks which I noticed when I first checked back on their site about 2 weeks ago and now the email bounce back says 7 weeks. I’m actually quite a patient person and if they would communicate with me I would be happy to wait however short of spamming me with emails and now sending postal brochures I haven’t heard a thing from them since I placed my order.

Placed a £50 order 24th feb 10-12 days delivery, after 20 days delivery was extended to 4 weeks, now claiming to be 7 weeks. Not replied to any emails. Yets still sending emails regarding sales.

Order still pending a month later and when I rang to ask what was happening the lady hung up on me as soon as I mentioned a late delivery. Managed to take my payment instantly though and it was a big order. I get it....they're closing and it's a sad loss of jobs....but stop pelting me with emails asking me to buy more books literally twice a day. You'll still take my money but you won't even have a civil conversation about my order a month later....they need to close their orders down and honour existing ones. Daughters birthday on Sunday and have had to buy something else to replace this order which I couldnt really afford. Not holding out for a refund or the books. All it would have taken was an email saying sorry. Stop marketing when you can't fulfil loyal customer orders

I called the office last week after I had found out about the liquidation to be told my books would be delivered 27/03/2020 and here we are 27/03/2020 and my books have just been delivered. I have used them for a lot of years and have never been disappointed

I have to disagree with a lot of the comments about how bad the company is. I have used them frequently. Placed a large order on Friday the 20th March, paid for 48 hour delivery and have received, over the last 3 days, all but 6 Books out of the items I ordered. I have contacted them & waiting on hearing from them with regard to the ones missing which were typically the ones I brought as presents.

I have been a customer of the book people for a number of year’s and was sorry to hear they were going out of business.
I placed a fairly large order with them 6 weeks ago and after waiting 3 weeks I messaged them via their website twice with no reply.
After 4 weeks had passed I decided to give them a call, eventually I got to speak with Angela who was incredibly nice to deal with, she checked the status of my order and told me that the orders that had been placed the day before mine were down to being dispatched that day, so hopefully my order would be dispatched quite soon and that if I didn’t receive an email in a couple of days to ring back.
I gave it another week still no books, so gave them another call after a considerable time waiting I eventually spoke with someone and I have to say she was the most unhelpful person ever, she just didn’t seem to care and was bordering being rude, she couldn’t tell me when I would get my order or if I would get my order and on asking her advice her reply was if your not happy cancel your order, I then asked if I could speak with a supervisor or manager she replied yes of course put me on hold and never came back to the phone.
It’s now 6 weeks I’ve sent more emails with no response. I would also like to add my payment was taken immediately after placing the order.

Please be aware that there is a very long wait for delivery.
Clearly under these difficult circumstances its totally understandable and the company is sadly in liquidation but I placed an order almost a month ago and was told after two phone calls that it was still in the warehouse and should arrive in another week?
Just be aware of this before you order, if you are looking for books to keep your Children entertained I would advise ordering from Amazon.

I have always had great service and it’s such a shame fir this wonderful company to be closing. It will be missed!

I placed an order for books on the 24th February. I have received my order today. No items missing and well packaged. It was a long time to wait and I chased them via messenger several times as I could not get through on the phone. They replied each time advising of delays and I would receive my order shortly. I am pleased to receive my order after such a long wait and to be honest I did not think they were going to arrive. Please be patient and I’m sure you will receive your orders. I have given 3 stars as I know they are working with minimal staff and are in administration so it must be hard for the staff.

I received an email 2 days before the 4 weeks delivery time to say my books had been dispatched and received them 2 days later. One of the items was missing but I didn't contact them about this as it only cost £1.40 and thought it would be too much hassle to complain. If they have your books in stock i am sure you will receive them eventually, just expect to wait longer than normal.

Now it’s 7 weeks on their website. It’s already funny.

Great experience buying books from this store, but what a shame, it's closing soon.. wish they could stay.

I placed an order February and am pleased to say my order arrived today. Picked up some bargains, although I wasn't sure whether my order would arrive. Sorry it had to go into administration as I used to order a lot of books through work.
