Stay away from Taurus they are a scam

Stay away from Taurus they are a scam. They sold me a gadget cover claim which claimed to cover gadgets purchased in the UK and overseas. I phoned before purchasing to confirm this was accurate and was reassured that it is.
I have since made a claim for a stolen phone which was denied as Taurus now claim they only cover gadgets purchased in the UK. I have spoken to other people who have used Taurus before and they all have very similar experiences.
Taurus are intentionally misleading their potential customers to secure a purchase and then refusing to honour the policies that they sell.

Post Office Gadget Insurance and Taurus…


Post Office Gadget Insurance and Taurus Insurance are absolutely terrible. They've been dragging their feet for over a week, leaving me without a phone. Every time they ask for another document, they push my case to the back of the line. It's infuriating and a complete waste of time. Their senior team is useless and clearly doesn't care about their customers. Avoid these companies at all costs – they have no idea how to provide decent service. Total joke.

Sent in a claim for a damaged iPhone XS…

Sent in a claim for a damaged iPhone XS Max, provided all photos, serial number, etc... as requested. Form took ages to fill out with loads of useless information being gathered - no doubt to be later sold on to marketing companies - only to be told 2 days later that the insurance doesn't cover refurbished devices (!) Steer clear, these guys are exactly the sort of old-fashioned insurance scammers that hide escape tunnels for themselves in every line of fine print to make sure they will never pay a claim.

Lost my job over this claim today

I wanted to give 0 stars but I can’t so here is what happened …. I have made a claim on 23 may 2023 …. 00086124 …. They email me saying they need 20 different proofs which I sent all of them pics of car broken in police report and reference proof of purchase picture of myself my bank statements proof of address proof of id proof of car proof of everything you can think of device reported and proof of usage and blacklisting proof of all sorts of things … let me tell you becoming a British citizen was sooooo much easier then this claim so far I have been without a device since 23rd I have just lost my job because of this today just found out now becouse of not having a my device to work ….. this has been by far the worse experience of my life if I knew how these people deal I wound have never got insurance from them I see other companies reviews and they are at least 4 stars ….. I had to beg my neighbours to send me photos that they taken from the incident and send for them and they still playing around I know it’s not the proofs they need they just drag everything to not settle the claim it is obvious please if you are reading this avoid this company they make me lost my job over this claim they don’t reply to emails and when u call they say it’s been looked at even now after 23 days after all of the proof and phone interview someone else has to make a decision god knows when please for your own health don’t get insurance from these people they have been trained to not settle claims . As I said getting uk settlement and British passport and driving licence and mortgage is easier then having a claim with this company avoid at all costs it’s not worth the stress.

I had a very bad experience with Taurus…

I had a very bad experience with Taurus gadget insurance, I already went through an awful event when my devices got stolen from me while out, I followed all the obligations they had set in the policy hand book but this wasn’t enough for from they kept adding more and more to the list and each time you had completed you had to wait 2 days to get a reply, this is standard procedure they said, my claim is still on going due to the fact I have to wait 2 days every time to get a reply, I have never experienced a company like this in all my years! They should definitely not be allowed to run a business like this, they can’t even keep their staff as the ones I have been speaking to mostly recently are trainees, wished I had read the reviews before paying money to be insured by a crooked company, my next step is to trading standards with all the evidence I have, the more people that do this hopefully they will get shut down, so disappointed, my advice is stay away from Taurus if you don’t want the added stress that comes with it!

Positive experience here guys don’t worry

My iPhone 15 plus was stolen whilst on holiday which really ruined my trip. Thankfully I got gadget insurance through compare the market before I went away, however once I read the reviews for the company I ended up choosing I got really worried, but I knew there was no other option but to try

I had to retrieve a lot of info which did take time as they do ask for a lot of documents, e.g. police report whilst on holiday before 24 hours of the theft, calling my phone company repeatedly for blacklisting proof, usage proof, proof of ownership (I even sent a pic of the original box with serial number), FindMy proof, iCloud info with serial number, proof of address and so on

After sending all the necessary documents and paying the excess fee, they accepted my claim and sent out a refurbished iPhone 15 plus within a few days

Not sure if the reason for all the negative reviews is because people aren’t able to access all the proof that is required or if this company is only just starting to clean up its act but I just felt the need to leave a review after my positive experience in case anyone was going through anything similar!

Travel insurance

I recently used Taurus Insurance during my holiday in Spain and had a great experience. I lost my Apple Watch Ultra, and Taurus handled my claim efficiently. Their process was straightforward, and customer service was excellent. I received the reimbursement within one week. I highly recommend Taurus Insurance for their quick and reliable service.

Smart watch replaced on time with no problems

I recently needed to get my smart watch either repaired or replaced as the screen was accidentally smashed. I created an account, went through the prompts for what they need to process the claim. Once I’d provided all the photos, they accepted my claim within the timescales they set (around 5 days) and I sent the device off which they replaced within around 5 days. So essentially, this insurer does what they tell you they will do so long as you do what you are asked which isn’t difficult. This review would have been 5 stars but I found the website a bit clunky, and I needed a printer to complete my return. Overall, a good experience and good communication so I would recommended them as an insurer.

Highly not recommend for Taurus and Virgin Money! Rubbish of claim process

Taurus really is a joke! I don't know why Virgin Money could sub-contract the claim process to other party which i don't expect to deal with so joking low rated company. And really doubt why there have 5 star rate to say the claim settle 3-5 days, this is not possible.

I am extremely frustrated with Taurus Insurance's handling and response of my claim. Their terms are confusing and their selective processing is unacceptable.

I recently moved from aboard to the UK and many of my items were purchased in aboard. While Virgin Money processed claims for other non-gadget items, Taurus refused to cover my high-value electronics, citing policy terms only after a lengthy process even we prepared original inovice and transfer of ownership to follow their request at begining.

For example, my earphones bought in aboard were covered, but my new iPhone, also purchased there during trip, but it was not covered. This inconsistency and selective handling make no sense.

Additionally, Taurus demanded excessive proof, like original packaging or receipt for an old iPad, which is impractical and unreasonable. And i don't know why at the begining, they requested my photos to proceed claim, even though i provided ID. They collect too many personal data and privacy at all and i don't know what authority provide right for them to do in this way.

They even rejected claims after initially requesting extensive documentation, wasting my time and effort.

Overall, Taurus seems unwilling to cover high-value items, using confusing terms and excessive requirements to avoid payouts. Highly disappointed and do not recommend their service.

Will keep follow up with Taurus and Vrigin Money, even they are the worse at all.

Reserve the right to report such situation to financial ombudsman or other authority.

I bought an annual global travel insurance Virgin Money Gold with upgraded Gadgets package with other upgraded item. Anyhow, the package is not cheap at all but that is not the main concern.

When I traveled aboard at Jan/Feb in several places, one day some of my items have been stolen at the train (most probably). I found out the situation after arrived hotel and several items have been stolen including travel money and 2 gadgets which one is new, then I reported to police.

I tried to visit Virgin Money website to see how to find support but fail, then email with Virgin Money but no one reply at all for emergency help; even I returned to UK after a week, there do not have any reponse as well. That's helpless.

When I raised a claim, that is so complicated. The claim of gadgets is outsourced to another company call Taurus Insurance Service. They requested a lot of things to prove the device ownership, even original packaging. So far I am not familiar of the claim process, I reported lost of my ipad at the begining during travelling, but some of my IT specialist friend advise better to erase the ipad content and removed from my device list to prevent the theif jailbreak the device and access my personal details, therefore I did it. Therefore I lost the serial or IME details of this device but Taurus keep pending the claim of all my gadgets until today.

The other ridiculous thing is Taurus rejected my claim of new iphone which is my friend's gift for my son birthday. At the begining, I explained the new iphone background; Taurus requested to get the letter of ownership transfer from my friend with related invocie which we did so. But after the long process and over months back and forth, Taurus replied the new buy item during trip is not covered by policy. This is insane! First why don't they tell at the early of beginning and asked us to prepare a lot of supporting document and letter etc. Secondly, no matter it always have some new buying items during trip, how come the insurance policy do not cover it? This is not make sense.

Overall the claim processes is rubbish, everytime you need to wait at least a week for Virgin Money or Taurus for reply. Then back and forth that take months for process. Again, my gadgets claim is still pending for more than 3 months until today.

Highly not recommend Taurus and Vrigin Money!!!

**Just find out so much fake 5 stars review! Totally in different world!

Beware nothing just a scam with couple of fake reviews with 5 star. They just want your money . Would ask you tons of silly stuff saying its neccessary documents . All i want now my money back which i have paid over the months because they would never clear approve your claim. If i could i would complaint about the firm to higher athourites the amount of stress they put you under mentally .

Very good service.

Unfortunately my phone was stolen, so I had to make a claim.

After seeing so many documents which will be needed to supply, I had a small shock, but it is doable and does not require a lot of your personal time. When there are so many fraudulent claims, I can understand why so many documents are required.

One more shock was received when I checked this insurance company on Trustpilot, and started to get nervous.

However, my experience was fantastic. I have read comments here, and to be ahead of possible problems, I have uploaded additional documents like pictures of the box, and details of the phone by IMEI.

My claim was approved within 2 working days, and I got my brand new phone on the second day after approval.

Huge thanks to Taurus claims team!

Very unprofessional team who is handling claims, it’s been more then 2 months now since claim submitted and still waiting for decision, I submitted all the relevant documents, still asking the same documents again and again, if you reply on email then wait for another week to get response back, I think they take around year or 2 to make decision.

Slow and frustrating

At first my claim seemed to be going okay - Taurus were relatively quick to get back to me with any enquiries I had. They did request a lot of documents (including a photo of the original box, which I thought was a bit absurd considering the phone is 4 years old!) but eventually my claim for my stolen phone was approved and, after paying the excess, I was offered just one settlement option, a replacement device, which I was told I would receive in 2-4 working days. It has now been 5 working days since I paid my excess and I hadn't even received so much as a tracking number or details about the device. Then, today - on my birthday, of all days! - I receive an email telling me that now the only option is cash settlement, and this is of course going to take another 5 or so working days to process.

I've now been without a phone for over a month and I was really hoping to have everything sorted before my birthday. The circumstances in which my phone was stolen were really traumatising, so the length of this process has created a lot of stress and upset for me.

Absolutely scandalous service from this…

Absolutely scandalous service from this shower of con merchants.

Waited a year to settle my claim for a damaged iPad. Confirmed the settlement amount of £270, then insisted I buy the replacement. Made me pay THEM £50 to post the damaged iPad back to them (despite photos clearly showing the serial number and an absolutely irreparable device), waited another six months and scoured amazon to look for a discounted refurbished iPad from some dodgy seller with zero reviews on amazon and then offered me £200. So I'm already out £270 from buying a replacement almost a year ago, and out £50 from having to post the mangled iPad back and now they are lowballing me again.

Complaint on its way to the ombudsman - avoid this organisation like the plague.

Honestly this is one of the worst experiences

Honestly this is one of the worst insurance experience I have ever had in my life. It is now weeks waiting and counting. It honestly feels like you are trying to prove you are telling the truth about even having the phone in there first place. I don't understand what some stuff has to do with anything even asking for the original box, and if I had insurance with anyone else what does that have to do with my claim? Insurance companies share the database so why would I be so stupid to claim several times for the exact same device?

I had sent the receipt with the IMEI and Serial as well as a screenshot of my apple account with matching IMEI and Serial only to be asked to sent pictures of the box???

The most frustrating part was being asked to upload info, which I proceeded to upload and also email, and then repeatedly chasing to be told we have not received the info I uploaded and also emails. Only for me to then ask on the phone to them 'what format does your system accept?' to then hear them say it is the format (photos taken from iPhone) which their system does not accept. Mind you I had uploaded several times and their online portal said 'successful' and I had also emailed them to make sure they arrived.

Every single time they ask for something new it takes 2 days to hear back. Even when you reply to emails it is as if they don't know you have replied until you call as you are told 'we sent you an email asking for xyz' when you have already replied to that email hours before or even the day before!! make it make sense??

Virgin Atlantic sold me this insurance, and already processed my claim for my stolen cash within days but getting my phone claim sorted by with Taurus as they handle gadget claims has been a complete nightmare to date.

It is a horrible way to treat people a terrible experience from start to this point today I am still waiting for a decision let alone a phone.

I submitted a claim for my lost laptop to Taurus three weeks ago, during my travel abroad. The process required an extensive array of documentation—including passport details, a utility bill, the device's invoice, a police report, the device's IMEI number, iCloud information, and more. Despite my compliance in furnishing all requested details, the resolution of my claim continues to stall. A senior case handler has further complicated matters by demanding additional evidence. Even after I provided comprehensive proof such as my airline tickets, hotel accommodations, device invoice, and utility bill for address verification, the requests for more information persist. It appears to me that there is an underlying reluctance to settle the claim, possibly a tactic to merely prolong the process. I am left with a strong impression of a lack of empathy and a disregard for customer trust. Based on my disappointing experience, I strongly advise against opting for Postoffice Gadget Insurance, as it seems they fail to provide the support needed in the event of loss while traveling. I recommend steering clear of this company and reconsidering any plans to secure gadget insurance through them.

Being difficult

I will be avoiding in future. Time to get a response is laughable!

I must say what an absolute farce using this insurance company. The timescales they get to respond to each email is a joke. Its not been just under 2 weeks since i lost my phone and i'm still battling with them sending everything they are asking for to authorise the claim. I use my phone for business and it's not only a kick in the gut losing my device with everything on it but to wait this long for a new one is so frustrating! I'm very tempted to cancel the insurance once the claim has been dealt with and find a new provider as the timescales simply are not good enough. Also to just make sure everything they need is asked for at the start of the claim too!

*Update less than 24 hours of submitting this claim they were straight on to asking for more details before the review was deleted... if you cared more about empathising with the claimants than your reviews, these reviews wouldnt be here in the first place!

Cooperation is key

Cooperation, honesty, and providing all the necessary details are essential for the approval of any insurance claims. Although additional information may be required, ensuring that you provide it will increase your chances of approval. If you're purchasing an item off eBay, always request the seller to provide proof of purchase and write a small document to transfer ownership to you. This will be required for any third-party buying. I was able to get my claim approved after providing all the necessary information.

People who say these are scam company take a look in the mirror it's you are not being honest with the insurance company they never ignore emails or phone calls they answer honestly.

I would recommend this company.
