Sunsetter Awnings…

Bought a sunsetter awning through Awnings by Coastal Sunrooms ( an authorized dealer). The salesman was nice at first until the sale was made. Now my awning is crooked and coastal never returned my calls. When I called Sunsetter Awnings customer service to complain, they recommended a video to adjust it myself. Sorry I ever bought the awning and would NEVER recommend Awnings by Coastal Sunrooms in Frankford,Delaware and Sunsetter Awnings.

Zero post sale service

Zero post sale service, and worst of all NO SERVICE AVAILABLE IN MY AREA . What that means is that is no one I can call to replace a broken part on my OASIS RETRACTABLE AWNING. The quality is decent but thay have no systamatic service as one may need. The nearest "dealer" lives about 100 miles away and never comes to my City, Columbia (the Capital city of South Carolina) , SC....

Great Awning, TERRIBLE Customer Service

Great Awning! 18 years old and works like new! TERRIBLE, and I mean, TERRIBLE customer service.
Several years ago they changed the "tie down" system for the "soft cover". The new system doesn't work where we live in northern New England. Winter winds pull the clips off the cover and make the cover and valence blow erratically until both are destroyed and need replaced.

I replaced one cover and valence in the first 15 years. Since then, replaced both TWICE.

They are not cheap. I attempted to let the company know how I remedied their "flawed" fix by contacting them to explain. Hours later after two attempted chat's, an email and phone call I talked with a CSR who could only read from a prepared script. No resolution there.

Frustrated I came here, yes, to complain. The fix is simple, order Tarp tie downs, use strong cord and do it the original way as if using their bungee cord method. which still shows up on their website.

If you live in a calm weather area, their safety clips will probably still work. if not, try this and save money on covers & valence.

Terrible experience with Sunsetter customer service

I ordered a SunSetter awning through the official Costco link to SunSetter’s website, which included a 20% discount and free shipping. I contacted SunSetter customer service to ask if changes could be made to my order, and I explicitly told the representative not to cancel it. Despite my clear instruction, they canceled the order anyway.

Now, I’ve lost access to the promotion I originally qualified for. I’ve contacted both SunSetter and Costco multiple times. Costco says the order was placed through SunSetter, and while SunSetter acknowledged this was their mistake, no solution has been provided to restore the discount or honor the promotion.

This has been a frustrating experience. I’m still waiting for SunSetter to make this right and help me place the order at the originally agreed promotional terms.

I ordered Pro Series Awning in January…

I ordered Pro Series Awning in January of 2025 at a cost of more than $10,000. The local dealer is Shade One. I am continually being given excuses as to why my awning has not arrived. This is among the worst customer service I have ever received.

I bought a home that had an older…

I bought a home that had an older sunsetter awning. Its a lake place and there apparently is not local dealer. Trying to get any replacement parts from sunsetter is impossible, since they cannot determine an account & do not seem able to do anything without establishing who the owner is/was. I replaced the fabric myself & now have an issue with the motor. Again, no help from Sunsetter. I'd never buy a product from them!!!

Dont order the flagpole..Cheap parts!…

Ive ordered an awning and accessories in the past and noticed their service decline over the years...This time i went with the flagpole..( China) and Flimsy..It arrives minus the ball or flag!...Customer Service?...Very basic and uninformed...No info on anything...It seems the people they put in place to service havent a clue..They read the same manual as the customer and assume...No knowledge of their product....Oh,they will return emails promptly but the customer cant count on anything positive happening...It also seems the stock they have is returns or B grade signifying the companys in trouble!...I had service reps who couldnt speak english,spoke english and was confused and others just pure phone answerers!...DEI hires for sure!

Think Twice before installing a retractable awning…

First of all there was nothing wrong with the awning itself. It seemed like a good idea at the time. However as time went by I realized that this just wasn't the product for me. The problem was that the awning extended over a northern facing deck. In the afternoon the western exposure had no protection at all. In addition the wind was a problem. I have taken the awning down and I am having a screen porch built. I wish I had done that in the first place. Again there was absolutely nothing wrong with the awning. I just wanted to let people know that maybe it's not the right solution to your problem.

Very disappointed in the customer service--basically there is no customer service with Sunsetter.

We had a large awning installed march of 2023. In September, we noticed one arm was a bit lower and needed adjusting. I contacted their installer who originally installed the awning (a contractor, not an employee), my sales person (who referred me back to the installer, and the representative for my area--multiple times including phone and email. No one every got back to me. I tried calling the companies 1-800 number and was on hold for 20 minutes with no one picking up. I left an email--no response. If you are considering an awning, don't buy here, I suggest going with a local company where you can contact someone with issues--which will happen eventually. Very disappointed in the customer service--basically there is no customer service with Sunsetter.

Go Elsewhere

Ordered a replacement fabric 2 months ago and still can't get an estimated ship date. Go elsewhere, this company is in serious trouble.

They print a shipping label, then don't ship

They print a shipping label, then take your money, but the item never ships. Then when you complain about it, they make up some BS story about it having shipped, and it must be lost in transit, and claim they will get to the bottom of it. I think they are either going out of business, or heading for bankruptcy. Point is, I ordered almost 2 months ago. They printed a label a few days after. Fedex has yet to see the package. That was over a month and a half ago. Meanwhile, they have my money.

Get your awning elsewhere

These folks over at SunSetter have absolutely no idea what they're doing. They called me several times in a row from someone's cell phone (a 413#) at 6:30pm on a Friday to say there's a problem with my credit card. Well, not giving that info over the phone to some random guy just because he's from SunSetter. I explain that I'll re-place the order tomorrow with a different card, he says ok.

I do that. Original order status still says "Call" so, we should be good, right? Nope. They then (as I understand it) process both orders... despite never receiving updated card info for the first order and not that anyone reached out and told me they were going to re-attempt the card charge. I call ASAP and am told by a snarky supervisor that he's "looking forward to canceling my orders" and that it will be taken care of the same day. Instead of that happening THEY SHIPPED THE AWNING.

I call AGAIN and get told no supervisor is available to speak to me (surprise, surprise) and there's nothing else support can do... I mean, what did they do in the first place?

The way I finally got this resolved was by PAYING for executive email addresses and reaching out to them directly. This is not the way to treat customers, SunSetter.
