By far, this has been the hardest 27 months of my life. When I separated from my ex-wife, I never envisaged the emotional, financial and personal toll that navigating the legal system would take.

I cannot thank Stowe Family Law enough for their incredible support during a very challenging custody dispute. Nicola Beasley was my lead Partner and she was absolutely phenomenal throughout the entire process. Navigating a custody battle is incredibly stressful and I would think everyone starts at the same place which is in fact not really knowing where to start. My advice would be to get legal advice as early as possible as it's important to agree a strategy and build a strong consistent case. Picking the right legal advisor can be the most important decision you make but is often made without really knowing what to look for. Difficult to tell if one firm is better than another. In the end what matters is the quality of your solicitor and the relationship you build with them. Demand the best, ask difficult questions, move on to someone else if you are not happy. But if you want to cut this short, do give Nicola a ring and see if you think she could help you.

I wouldn't even give 1 star. I went for a first meeting it cost over £2000. I told the lady I dis not want any other cost added without me knowing. I was charged £100s more even when I did not want to use the company (who could not help and didnt even produce what they promised for the first cost) they chased me every month for money for work they did not do and extra.

I can only talk from 1 experience of a divorce, but I would not recommend Stowe. However I have nothing to compare them to. What I found was the following: they added in unnecessary steps which, when challenged, they said could be removed (why add them in then?). There were incidences of unnecessary emails, despite my requests due to the cost e.g. I asked to sign a copy then for it to go to my Ex, but they actually did several further back and forth steps with the other solicitors, asking them to provide a clean copy instead of us just sending it. They chased things that did not yet need chasing, and when I was waiting for a document, didn’t tell me they had had it for weeks. At one point they suggested I move to someone else who was cheaper in billable hours – which I did. Why they had not suggested earlier I do not know, I didn’t realise there was a choice having never hired a solicitor before. They also accidentally emailed Me instead of an internal colleague saying I was “moaning” – so professional….. So overall I felt they were over priced, went over budget, for a not great experience or service, and created extra steps and cost at every turn.

My first experience with Stowe Family Law was an introduction with Sarah Gillen. I had a very traumatic experience prior to meeting Sarah, who made me feel very much at ease. Sarah showed a great deal of compassion and empathy. I was not enticed to go for the most expensive options, but given a very comprehensive and honest choice. I cannot thank Sarah enough for that and her continued support ever since. I now have Lauren Kite acting on my behalf for all the legal procedures, who, like Sarah has a very understanding, compassionate and empathic approach. Everything is explained in a very comprehensive manner and my options made clear balanced with the understanding of my situation.

I wish that I had had the support of Stowe during my divorce. I would have been less likely to finish in the position in which I found myself, requiring excellent support from Abi in securing a Child Arrangements Order (CAO). I received clear guidance during the entire process which assisted me in deciding on the course of action to take.

cannot recommend Stowe family law enough. I have just completed my separation. I chose separation rather than divorce as I felt it was the right choice for us after a marriage of over 40 years. It was an unusual challenging case. My goal was a fair financial agreement (with the option to move to divorce at a later stage if required). I also wanted to remain amicable so that we could continue to enjoy family occasions together. Emma and Niamh devised a strategy that worked really well for us. They were very responsive and professional, I felt totally reassured that I was not alone. Having an excellent team to support me during a very stressful time helped tremendously. Thanks to Emma and Niamh navigating the process, I now have the fair amicable outcome I wanted. Everyone that I worked with at Stowe throughout my financial settlement divorce process were professional, knowledgeable and reassuring. I was always provided with clear guidance, and even when that guidance was not going to end in a positive outcome from me in the eyes of the law, the facts were delivered with empathy and kindness. I felt personally very supported particularly by Kate Newton who I worked closely with to finalise the settlement. 5 star service, but have rated 4 as the fees are high (although I suspect that may be true of most competent divorce law firms), but they did try and mitigate costs where they could by using more junior resources where sensible.

She guided me through every option available to me, and the process went as she said it would, so there were no surprises. Hopefully won't be needing Stowe Law again but would always recommend to anyone!
