Having rented a mailbox at their ashford branch I found the service to be far from satisfactory.
The facility was previously run by Kent Space, I had been a customer of theirs for quite some time, the service was exemplary and the manager was amazing, I ended my contract in 2021 as it was no longer needed.
In April 2025 I again needed a mailbox, I made contact with Kent Space in ashford and was advised it was under new ownership, it was now Storage King, I asked if they still did mailboxes and was informed yes, a number of the staff remembered me from my previous rental.
I completed the signup process, when I attended to sign the contract and pay the first months rental (I had already paid the reservation deposit), I said that I would be having parcels sent there and nothing was said, all seemed fine, 4 months later they advised the do not accept parcels, and have never accepted parcels!, when I asked why I had not been infomed of this I was told it was likely because the person that signed me up was fairly new and probably didnt know, I was advised that small packets are ok but they dont have the time to sort the post, storage king is set up more for businesses and not for private residential, I also noted that small items were not being placed in the mailbox but being kept in the parcel bay behind the reception, the reason is they dont have time to sort the mail, they have a lot to do for the businesses who rent units.
Very dissapointed and feel rather mislead, the only reason I went back to askford is because of the service and my wife liked the staff, she reminded me how nice they are (were), we have certainly been proven wrong on that point, that was the main reason we chose to pay £43.00 per month for the mailbox, which apparently only accepts standard letters, instead of £20.00 per month for a service which accepts prcels and post.
Another problem I have experienced it with accessing the mailboxes, when I went there last night you couldnt drive through the loading bay area with huge trucks reversed onto the loading bays and vans parked opposite, no space to fit a car through, one business has had a hue truck on the same bay, with the shutter left open and loads of ironwork stacked up outside next to the shutter, anyone could just walk into the facility, not such secure storage!, a few occasions the access barriers were also up when entering the facility, so easy for anyone to drive in and gain access.
The facility has seriously gone down hill and nothing like it used to be, I have handed in my notice and secured alternative services, saving myself £23.00 per month, I have gone from being an advocate of Kent Space Ashford to advising people to steer clear of that place.
Very dissapointing experience, sad to seetheplace fall into the hands of a company that doesnt value their customers and et you sign up for a serice without explaining the limitations, as I have pointed out on numerous occasions, if they had told me they do not accept parcels then I would have gone elsewhere.

The building burned down. The fire according to video footage started in a shed where lithium batteries were present. The company has been running for cover since, lying to the 188 unit holders about many details and making promises about possible retrieval which were completely false. Do not trust this company with anything of value - they have no moral compass and are only interested in keeping victims quiet and still improving their bottom line. If I could give no stars I would.

Having moved, after being in the same house for 25 years, I used Storage King Harrogate as my aid to a smooth transition.
Richard and Tina helped that journey, immensely.
They offered me a great deal, which bought me time to sort out my belongings, in the unit as I went along.
I could come and go as I wanted with fantastic security and peace of mind for my possesions.
The whole experience went so well thanks to Richard and Tina, who made such a fuss of my dog Pip too.

Highly recommend and would use when needed time again. The staff are great. Jett and Zahra bent over backwards for me when issues arose. Very good rates, great location and the Van for rent outside pretty much saved our move.

After posting my review, Storage King reached out to me and refunded the additional £30.69 charge. I appreciate them taking the time to follow up and resolve the issue. While my experience started off frustrating, I’m glad they made the effort to correct it.

Trust issue
Stored there for a while they advised of increase of charges then I noticed they kept increasing the charges without telling me as well would check invoices and notice it’s £5 a month more expensive this month
Gave notice to move out I owes them £44.17 for the last storage fees they tried to take £188.29 from my bank as direct debit an overpayment if £145.12 I had not alternating but to cancel the payment now they want to charge me a bounce fee when the issue is their wrong doing I gave notice before the last invoice was issued they had over a week to alter or issue a credit note

I was initially very disappointed with my experience at Storage King. I wasn’t told about extra charges in advance, and that lack of clear communication made me feel misled. After I raised my complaint, I was told the charges were due to vacating outside reception hours, even though I left on the date I had paid for.
That said, I appreciate that Storage King reviewed the case and agreed to credit my account, clearing the balance. I’m glad the issue was resolved, but this situation could have been avoided with better upfront information. I hope they improve their communication going forward.

I am sure they are a nice company, but the constant calls is getting too much.
I enquired for a price, I do not need daily calls about this. All of these calls are putting me off from using your company.

I have just moved out of Storage King in York and everything from moving in to moving out went extremely smoothly. The booking was easy and even though I arrived with my furniture after the office had closed everything was set up for me to move in with ease. The unit was very clean and I felt my belongings were safe. Communication was great throughout, a big shout out to Natasha who was very friendly efficient and helpful from start to finish. Thanks Natasha and Storage King I would definitely use you again and will recommend you to family and friends.

Storage King at York is an easy service to use which is all down to their staff. Chris & Hayley have been fantastic, helpful and patient when I’ve asked several questions, nothing is too much trouble.
Would most definitely recommend and use again.
