I ordered a Halloween costume for my son, and the entire experience has been nothing but frustrating. The package was already delivered late, and when I checked the tracking, it showed it was delivered to the wrong address. I contacted Spirit Halloween, and they told me I had to wait three days to see if it turned up. It never did.
They eventually offered a refund, but 3 weeks later, I only received eight dollars, which customer service claimed was just the shipping cost. They told me the rest of the refund would be processed later. It is now December, and I still have not received the remaining refund. Every time I reach out, no one is willing to help or take responsibility.
This was my first time ordering from Spirit Halloween, and it will absolutely be my last. It would be easier and more honest for them to simply say they cannot refund the order and advise customers to file a claim with the shipping carrier. Instead, they drag things out and leave customers with no resolution.
Extremely disappointed and will never shop here again.

Be very careful when buying from the Spirit Halloween in Seekonk, MA. Just two days after my purchase, they refused to let me exchange a costume for the correct size. This isn't about a late return, but a simple, logical exchange for the same item. The policy is customer-hostile and has guaranteed they lost a customer. I'll be going elsewhere from now on.

We bought a costume online and it was too small. Spent $18 shipping it back only to two weeks later have to message asking about the return. After multiple emails back and forth they refund the tax portion and say the rest will take 21 business days... so it takes them 6 weeks to return my money... that is if I ever actually see it. What a rip off.

If I had the opportunity to give 0 stars, that would be my choice. $65 for a crumby wind breaker and beat up hat? The price tag was so hidden that I didn’t even realize there was one. I tried to return it and make a DIY costume, but they said you can only exchange it for something with equal or lower value items. The robbery price of the costume wasn’t even the worst part about the experience. Once I came back to try and return, I was swarmed with employees telling me every little detail about how it’s my fault that I didn’t read the microscopic price tag or find the perfect costume at this lame store. 2 hours of my life I am never getting back!!

Garbage quality costumes, fit terribly if you are a normal sized person. No refunds or size exchanges. Spend $60 on a costume you can only hope fits. SOL if it doesn’t. A glorified garbage pale. 0 stars.

Great staff, policies make sense for end of returns because if they let returns and exchanges happen after the 17th, everyone would return after the big party weekends. I suggest shopping earlier for those complaining. They have full refunds from August til almost end of October!

Paid extra for Guaranteed delivery before halloween now is delayed until halloween night after 8 pm so after trick.or. treat is over ....I spent over 100 dollars here and now my kids have NO costumes and of course you can't get a hold of customer service watching tracking it sat in label.created mode for more than a day !?!?! I feel.like.this was purposeful will NEVER shop.here again absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!!

I placed an order on October 17th and paid an extra $14.95 to have it delivered on Oct 24th because my daughter had a party on the 25th. As I was checking everyday for 9 days , the package did not move and stayed at the warehouse for 10 days. It was very hard to get through customer service. Finally it arrived on the 28th, called to start a return. THEY DON’T EMAIL A RETURN LABEL YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!!! $21!!! Unbelievable, never seen that…. It was the 1st time I’ve ordered from them and it is the last time. Horrible company to deal with.

I went to Spirit for the first time today, (10/29/2025) and my wife and I bought costumes for Halloween. The store was crowded and only had 1 dressing room with 8 people in line, so I bought an extra large which is what I wear according to their chart. When I got home and tried it on, it more like a 4x. Now they tell me all sales are final. They didn't mention that when they were taking my money. If you need a costume order it on Amazon of somewhere with a decent return policy.

I understand this store is only a seasonal thing, but if you have a family member that you are buying a costume for and it does not fit them then you are out the $100 it cost you for the costume and the person that you were buying a costume for will be out of a costume. You cannot return or exchange anything. I will never ever purchase anything from Spirit Halloween. I'd much rather order it online giving you can't try on the costume before you purchase it anyway why not give my money to somebody who does business correctly

If I could give zero stars, I would. I bought a $60 suit for my son in Naperville a day ago, but it was the wrong size—even though it was labeled “one size fits all” (he’s quite slim). They claim to have an exchange policy stating that the costume must be exactly the same to be exchanged. However, the sign the staff referred to didn’t mention that it had to be the exact same item for an exchange. How can they loose if one suit is exchanged for another at the same price? The staff were almost like robots, repeating the awkward policy. Not service-minded at all. They would benefit greatly from being more customer-oriented. I thought the U.S. was known for excellent customer service. I was wrong.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I hope this store goes out of business. Bought a costume, adult small. Received an adult xl. Spirit messed my order up and refused to fix it since its after Oct 24th. This is the very definition of theft.

I usually don’t write reviews, but this experience really pushed me to.
Last Friday, I went to Spirit Halloween and bought my daughter her costume. She wanted to be a police officer, and I decided to be an inmate to match her — so I bought an inmate tag. When we got home and tried everything on, I noticed the tag was completely broken. There was no way to fix it — even superglue wouldn’t work.
The following weekend, I went to a Spirit store that was closer to where I was at the time (not the same exact location I bought it from) and explained the situation. I made it clear I wasn’t trying to return it for a refund — I just wanted to exchange it for one that wasn’t broken.
The employee told me they wouldn’t do the exchange because I didn’t buy it from that specific store and that other locations weren’t accepting their exchanges either. So basically, because the stores within the same company are having issues with each other, customers are the ones who suffer.
I’ve spent over $350 at Spirit this season alone, and this is how they treat returning customers — refusing to replace a small, defective item. That’s just bad business.
I get that policies exist, but there’s also something called customer service. I wasn’t asking for special treatment — just a working product.
Do better, Spirit. This kind of unprofessionalism and lack of accountability is exactly why I won’t be shopping here again.

The costume arrived 10/22 when I was out of town, by the time I was able to try it on the date to exchange sizes had passed because the policy is they don’t accept returns or exchanges after 10/23. Terrible service, someone should start a better pop-up Halloween company. They make billions each year and this service sucks.

Return policy is the worst EVER! It has been an annual tradition for me to take my three grandsons to get their costumes every year and let them pick out whatever they wanted. For the first time this year one grandson needed a bigger size costume. We returned to exchange for a bigger size within 2 hours of purchase and was told no returns after Oct 23rd even though I purchased on Oct 25th! WTF? Seriously? Lost my business forever! I will purchase costumes elsewhere and will bad mouth this to the world. Stupidest policy EVER and was a huge let down to one child which is devastating to me as a doting grandparent!!!
