AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP!!
AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP!!! ⚠️
Simpsons Skoda COLNE!
I bought a Volkswagen Tiguan from them in April 2024.
I was told this car had a full service including the automatic gearbox.
I was told this car came with a full years warranty that was Volkswagen approved and a full year road side assistance.
The car was delivered, I was told it would have some fuel in, came empty 😂
I let that slide.
In the August, the car broke down, the gearbox wouldn’t work.
I spoke with the after sales manager.
He advised me that it’s common in these cars but it will be fine after a while & try start the engine tomorrow and see what happen.
The car was drivable but I noticed noting when going into gear 3.
When I spoke with the manager again he said it’s fine to drive & the issue will resolve after a while, it cannot cause any issue with the vehicle.
In December 2024 my car broke down again, this time with a warning that the gearbox was in emergency mode. I spoke with the same manager who said ‘oh there’s nothing we can do it’s out of warranty now’ 🤯
When I questioned this as I was told it was a 12 month warranty he said actually no it was for 6 months only.
Fuming!!! They know exactly what they are doing!
I put in a full complaint because it came to light that actually this was even a warranty registered with the approved warranty team at all & it wasn’t a 12 month one. Oh & I never had roadside assistance included.
Conveniently I was never sent the service history or the warranty documents.
To top that off, the service history showed that the gearbox hadn’t had a service after all. Hence this fault!
Even so, the first time I told the manager about this was within the 6 months of buying the car anyway!!!
Upon complaint I was told if I got the car to them myself, they would have a look at it & ‘look after me’.
I had to pay £170 get it taken from Bradford to Colne.
I then got a call from the same manager to say ‘it’s going to cost £2000 just for the part, let us know if you’re willing to pay & we will fix it’ … ARE YOU ACTUALLY JOKING?! 😡😡😡😡
3 weeks I heard nothing.
I then get an email to say this manager has left & someone else has taken over.
This new manager tells me ‘your car cannot be fixed here it would have to go to a Volkswagen garage’.
DO YOU WANT TO TELL ME WHY IVE PAID £170 FOR IT TO BE BROUGHT TO YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE?! 😡😡
This whole time I’m emailing Melissa page-Wright the customer experience manager explaining how I’ve been mid-sold the car in details, how I have 3 children at 3 different childcare settings & im struggling with no car.
At first she was being nice,
I then asked to reject the car & send it back, she then turned on me. Even sending threats of acknowledging authorities as I’m refusing to collect my car & not allowing them to drop it off here.
After seeking legal advice I am well within my rights to reject this car as I was mis-sold a faulty vehicle, aswell as the warranty, road side assistance and service. Volkswagen financial services are looking into this but the lovely Melissa is refusing to support with a rejection of the vehicle.
Honestly, once you’ve paid them their money they don’t want to know!!
I have had many cars over the years and never had such poor customer service!
If this helps another person I’m happy because people work hard for nice things & pay a lot of money for a reliable car, they are phony’s!

Tried 3 times to ask about a car that was advertised on auto trader. Don’t answer the phone so gave up and ended up buying one from another Skoda dealer. Shame as they are my local dealer. Definitely won’t be using you for service if you can’t even answer the phone! Your loss.
The Good The Bad The Ugly Simpson Skoda Preston
The Good - initial contact with sales was good but that was when there was a possibility of a sale. As with almost all companies these days once that evaporated it has been downhill since. They have held on to my £99 "REFUNDABLE HOLDING DEPOSIT" ever since. Ever since being the 21/01/2025.
The Bad- I have made multiple attempts since to get my deposit back. Firstly, with the sales person and then later various members of staff on the phone and via emails and messaging.
The Ugly- All my efforts and many calls and emails has yet to see me get any resolution and at the time of this review they still hold my deposit. I've various empty promises including an email last week to assure me that it was 100% to be returned to me on Jan 30th that came and went, no refund. Then again Sun 2nd, same again, they were on it and would make the refund immediately or next day that didn't happen either. And then again today they would look into it and come back to me. What a disgrace and no way to treat somebody no wonder they get such bad feedback scores on this site. I'm feed up of hearing from car dealers saying that it can take up to 10 days for a refund to show up on your account. When these refunds are made, they are immediate or maximum 2 hours. All that is just a smokescreen because for some reason, best known to them, they seem to want to hold on to these small deposit. I did intend to buy my new Skoda Elroq from them but because of this farcical catalogue of events I've placed my order with another dealer. What baffles me is why I've been put in this position. All they have achieved is a bad review and a no sale on the Elroq and I would never consider buying a key fob let alone a car from them, all over a £99 holding deposit, bizarre. On a side note, my brother had his Kamiq serviced there under a service contract and they added £69 to top up the brake fluid, not drain and refill the system just a top up on a car with 8000 miles on the clock. This was of course refunded when he queried the cost for what was probably a cap full of brake fluid.
I'm now having to go through my bank to get this £99 refund, something I never wanted to do, but I’ve given them 7 or 8 chances and enough is enough.

Bought a skoda karoq sport line 23 reg end of Nov 24 took it back second day found damage to centre console senior sales manager joe took a look he said don't know how much that will cost to fix I replied won't be 30 k what we paid for car left it with them getting towards end of December heard nothing several emails nothing phoned left message for someone to contact me they did explained not happy with service and a warning light for service now pinging and I would like to return the vehicle on the 30 day no question hand back unless things were rectified witch was 3 days the 5.30pm got phone call to say there not willing to do enything about it so I asked to be put back in touch with joe his attitude was it's a second hand car with 9500 miles on its except able to have that sort of damage to it when asked if he would put all this into a email to he avoided it so I said I would be returning the car that Friday he said your carnt hand back only good for mechanical faults may be they should train their staff properly fed up with going round in circles we agreed to disagree to get a price for the damaged part and meet somewhere at cost 3 weeks in new year now not a call carnt even bring my self to call in spoilt all trust in them as a business so yes I can believe what other peopl say once deal gone through money in their bank your on your own.
Simpsons Škoda of Preston - as good as ever!
This is our 5th Skoda Superb Estate from Simpsons Skoda in Preston; they are not my local dealership, being 3 hours away, but I return due to their exceptional service and friendly professionalism. During this most recent buying experience, these traits were perfectly personified by George Richards, what an asset he is to this business. Recently appointed, as I understand, he is exceptional in this public-fronting role, as a natural and very genuine salesperson. He has been brilliant in his manner, knowledge and service - I couldn’t rate him more highly! He has made the purchase of our most recent car a really pleasurable experience. Thank you to him - and Debbie, who, likewise, has been very helpful, attentive and accommodating with our buying. A great product sold by some great people! I’ll be back for our 6th Superb no doubt!

My car was serviced at Simpsons staff were helpful and friendly vehicle was ready quickly and returned washed and vacuumed I also had a problem with front parking sensor which was caused by bad repair at another garage Simpsons sorted it out for me quickly and promptly cannot fault service I received looking forward to visiting again.

really interesting to see some of the comments below. I have called Simpsons 3 time asking for call back and not received one. I was then contacted to discuss my end of contract options and booked in to visit. I arrive having taken time of work to be told it was too early to discuss and to come back in 6 weeks. When I ask to speak about this I was treated like it was all my fault and should have known better. When I got the car they were great but since then there seems to be a do not care attitude. And to top it all I have been contacted today to go in and discuss my contract!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst experience ever
Worst experience ever.
Purchased a mini, PG19 ADO, £11,695… was sold to me as having a full service history. Less than 24hrs later I decided the car wasn’t right for me, but I was told I am exempt from the 30 day policy because it’s a “simpsons select”. Decided to get some quotes on the car and despite asking for my paperwork 8 times, I had to find out the service history myself, it had one service so meaning the car was worth £9k if that, £8,538 on we buy any car.
After a discussion with the garage they completely back the salesman and made me out I had imagined the service history. Agreed to have the car back for 11k, I then had to wait 3 days for this and then they re-advertised it for £11,999.
The sales manager himself I feel was genuinely in a difficult position but overall a horrible experience, not truthful and upfront, unorganised.
Have since purchased a mini from a main dealer and I’ve got to say totally different experience re communication, paperwork, I wouldn’t buy from these guys if would recommend you travel and go somewhere else.
I must note the receptionist is probably the only person I come across that actually wanted to genuinely help me and was super nice and helpful
Great service, Great People
Great service, great product, great people. Really Went above and beyond to help out.

I had just 2 issues from buying a car in
January 2024
Firstly, l want sales/ purchase confirmation of the transaction
Secondly l want the front brakes possible renewing as they are making a worrying grinding noise
So what has been the response?
Absolutely nothing resolved and it’s now March 2024.
If that’s not poor after sales service then I don’t know what is.
A good experience
The sales person, Nicole, was very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. We looked at several cars and she was happy to help and very patient. Thank you Nicole. Would thoroughly recommend taking a visit.
If I could give zero stars, I would.
Booked a test drive with Aziz. Travelled 95 miles for the test drive. When I arrived I was told that the car had been sold 15 minutes ago. The sales manager Martyn, told me that it had been sold that morning. So...it was sold 15 minutes ago that morning even though it was 2.50 pm. Work that out if you can. No phone call to tell me what had happened, no offer to pay for my fuel. Apparently Aziz hadn't even put the test drive on their systems so that no-one actually knew it was booked in. I was never offered a reserve-I booked the test drive directly with Aziz over the phone. Apologies are cheap. Competance at this dealership is in my view dead on arrival. So all in all a 190 mile round trip with nothing but rank incompetance ringing in my ears.
Disappointed and angry!
Apart from the lovely lady who answers the phone this outfit should be ashamed of themselves. I ordered an Enyaq over 18 months ago leaving them with £1000 of my hard earned cash. Having missed the expected delivery date by a year and 18 months later having only had a handful of updates (all saying there was no actual update) I still couldn't get a delivery date so I bought a car elsewhere. The cancellation process was slapdash despite me quoting their own terms and conditions at them. Nobody answers their emails, nobody phones when they promise to. I had to argue to get my own money back after they said I'd had a refund and then found I hadn't. No offer of a goodwill gesture despite the interest they've made over 18 months and the hike in the car's list price. Skoda UK customer services (who also don't contact you when they promise to) say goodwill is at dealer principle's discretion, well I got none so maybe that never arrived either! If I ran my business like these clowns I wouldn't have one.
Absolutely amazing service
Absolutely amazing service. John and the team here are fantastic. He explained every process and was extremely pleasant and reassured me that my car would be all sorted. I have picked my car up and everything is done and can’t thank John and the team enough!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Terrible after sales and questionable behaviour…
Tried to sell me an accident damaged car PJ17ODG and then did not refund the thousands of pounds that I had paid as a deposit and did not return my calls until I involved Skoda UK with an official complaint. My advice is to avoid Simpsons Skoda and instead try RRG in Rochdale or Lookers in Stockport.
Great car. Poor service
I bought a Skoda Kodiaq from these guys a couple of weeks ago. The sales team were very friendly and professional. They gave a fair price on my trade in vehicle and the sale went without a hitch. One week after the sale I tried to start the car to attend my grandchild who was I'll at school but the battery was completely flat. After a lot of messing around trying to jump start the car I contacted the dealer and was advised to contact Skoda Assist. This I did and the AA who attended promptly were fantastic. They diagnosed that the fault was indeed a dead battery and although they carried the correct battery they informed me that Skoda would not allow them to fit it and it would have to be fitted by the main dealer. He safely jumped the car and told me to contact the dealers whilst the vehicle was running. I contacted the dealers immediately and explained the situation. They were very dismissive and told me that they didn't carry batteries in stock and even if they did they wouldn't be able to fit it as they were busy with other customers. They suggested that I book the car in for a fitting but said they were very busy.
I explained that if I stopped the vehicle I would be unable to restart it and a battery fitting should only take 20 to 30 minutes even including the re-coding. I was also advised by the AA that if I turned the car off and had to re contact Skoda connect they would charge me a £100 call out fee.
After a protracted discussion with Simpsons they finally agreed to fit the battery the next day but would require the vehicle all day.
Hence I lost 2 days off work and had to buy a jump start pack with a total cost to myself of £300. All for the sake of a new battery.
This is my first Skoda and although I acknowledge that a battery can fail at any time the follow on service has been poor and dismissive for such a simple and easily rectifiable fault. I felt like my custom was important to them until they had my money but after that I was a nuisance and unimportant.
I would not use these guys again and from reading the other reviews I am not alone in this decision.
If only I’d read some of these reviews…
If only I’d read some of these reviews before I made a purchase from these guttersnipes.
I bought an Enyaq founders edition, spotted it on auto trader and contacted Simpsons. Ricky Wogden (in utter fairness probably the only decent human I dealt with there) sent a sales video through in which he describes the vehicle as superb condition. The vehicle was 8 months old at the time, from the video I had no reason to doubt it. I paid a £500 holding deposit and arranged to drive from my home in County Durham to collect it. I had sold my car to another dealership who had arranged to collect it from there. Stupidly on my part I had taken the wrong details and told the dealer buying my car to meet me at the Preston branch. It was only once my car was loaded and taken away my mistake came to light. After a couple of hours Ricky drove from Colne to Preston to collect me. This is where it starts to go really downhill. We arrive at Colne and the car isn’t ready. It’s in the workshop having a software update. I’m told this has around 3 hours to complete. So I’m stuck in Colne with no transport. My biggest worry now is I’ve a two hour drive once I get the car, my wife was away on a work trip. We have two dogs at home and our son needs collecting. As it stood it was going to be around 8 o’clock before I got home. Whilst I was waiting and still unable to inspect the car, Ricky suggested we complete the paperwork to save time later. Again stupidly I agree and complete it as well as transferring another £12000 deposit to their account. Now I’m just a normal hard working family man. That money is a huge sum. I had managed to accumulate it by selling my two previous vehicles well and the fact current used car prices were eye wateringly high.
So paperwork completed funds are transferred, it’s now a waiting game. It is worth mentioning I had paid £250 extra for a full detail. 5 o’clock rolls around, still no car and it certainly hasn’t been detailed. I question Ricky and he says “the detailing team are primed and waiting”. Then I see the car for the first being pulled out of the workshop and onto the forecourt. At this point I just want to get in and get home as quickly as possible. It’d had a quick wipe over but certainly not a £250 detail. I get in the car with Ricky for a quick familiarisation. Straight away I notice two large gouges out of the drivers door trim. I point them out and RW says he’ll order a new part and get it swapped. I drive home without incident.
The following morning I get the chance to inspect the car and discover no less than 5 scratches of varying degrees around the car. Now this is an 8 month old car described as super condition that I’ve taken finance of £56k for. That and the fact I’m totally OCD looking after my cars. Yes I’m that guy out there for hours every weekend 😊.
So now the real heartache begins. In the first week it’s ok but then the sunroof and blind stop working. The quoted range of 313 miles from a full charge is utter lies. I was plugging it in to 100% charge and I have evidence where the maximum miles would be as low as 220miles before I’d even turned a wheel. I’m sure this is why they tell you to only charge to 80%, to prevent complaints.
On 19th October I inform Simpsons verbally and in writing I want to return the vehicle under the consumer rights act 2015. Everyone has this legal right.
What has followed has been the single most disturbing event due to a purchase I’ve ever been through. They have decimated my credit file, I’ve been without a vehicle for 3 months. I’ve got solicitors fees mounting. I’ve been delayed, ignored and downright bullied by Simpsons, VWFS and Skoda UK. The motoring and financial ombudsmen are painfully slow.
I have been fighting this for seven months now and I’m still no closer to a resolution. Simpsons Skoda care about nothing other than money, once they have yours they do not want to know you. VWFS are just as bad.
I’m currently being treat for depression because of the impact this has had on my family and me.
I urge you please do not buy from these scumbags, they can cause you so much pain.
Don’t buy from these cowboys!!
We recently purchased a 3 year old Karoq (reserved online from a pre sale advert) within 8 hours we confirmed we would like to test drive the vehicle & was told it was at their prep centre. Visited the dealership that day, test drove a vehicle of the same model but different spec and fuel! Was told at 4pm after driving it that we only had 2 hours to make our decision on whether we wanted the vehicle otherwise we would loose the deal and our chance of purchasing, feeling a little bit reluctant as we hadn’t seen the vehicle and had our eye on another car we had seen/driven Mr Devere the sales manager assured us that the ŠKODA product was much stronger than a French car and that the car we were interested in would undergo 460
Point check, a full bodywork touch up, mechanical issues fixed and an all singing all dancing package (too good to be true)!
Paid the £500 deposit and from then on the journey gets worse.
Emails & calls asking how long until the car arrives we’re ignored until we suggested putting it off until we came back off our Easter holiday. Suddenly boom the car would be ready (funny it’s just before the end of the tax year). We were booking in to collect a couple of days later and we’re handed the keys only to find a sickening amount of issues, the bodywork was scratched, interior was full of dirt and dog hairs and the seats we’re all stained. Drove back to the dealer and rejected the car on that basis. Mr Devere was apologetic and promised to find us something to a better standard admitting the car was certainly in no fit state to sell to anyone. He asked if I’d consider keeping it…. Absolutely not!
We then sat at the dealership for over 3 hours, 3 so called favourable deals all at my expense and something I can’t afford! When we rejected the offer and demanded something more favourable to the customer given we hadn’t chaise any of this drama we were then told we couldn’t have anything else and all they have to offer is a deal that means they ‘break even’! Mr Devere then stormed off into his office closing the door in my face. If it wasn’t for his colleague Debbie we would still be stood there now!
Mr Devere then came back out to advise he would be happy to leave our old vehicle (still not paid off by the dealership) outside on double yellows with no tax or insurance for me to sort out. He also said he could reverse the deal and I’d be back in the same financial position I was before…. (Considering they had £500 of my money & I had a credit agreement/search on my file it’s highly unlikely lll be able to just go elsewhere and get another deal!
Feeling the rise in temperature, Debbie the showroom manger came out and assured us between them they would find us something else that would meet our need and we were promised Paul would sort this 2 days later.
Reluctantly we had to drive the ŠKODA home whilst they sorted this.
2 days pass and the dealership have yet to uphold my complaint, 2 credit agreements for a car no longer in my possession and a car I can’t drive, a family holiday has had to be postponed and when I do finally call myself I’m told the manager has now signed himself off for 2 weeks and nobody can help me!
Directors Mr Simpson & Mr Armer have yet to acknowledge any of my emails, which by now is only adding significant damage to their organisation and brand.
It’s time this company/personnel take responsibility for something they have caused and openly admitted to!
Simpsons ŠKODA will sell you the perfect story you want to hear but please don’t be fooled like we are/have been!
SOURED BUYING EXPERIANCE
Ridiculous wait for a set of carpets mats. Purchased the car 30/12/22 no carpet mats, preparation of the vehicle (valet of the vehicle for delivery ) was very poor and driver side front alloy was slightly damaged. It was agreed with the sales manager a goodwill gesture for the very poor valet would be given ( and was given ) and alloy wheel repaired, also a new set of carpet mats would be sent to me. As of 16/02/23 I am still waiting for my mats I have had to ring many times over the last 6+ weeks sent emails which have been ignored and have been given excuse after excuse after excuse after excuse you get the point over the delays .Frankly all this rubbish over a set of carpet mats is totally unacceptable no apology whatsoever from the sales manger has been forthcoming this has been a very annoying experience.Update finally recieved mats what a performance over a set of mats customer service rubbish will think twice before i buy from this dealer again in these hard times customer focus should be very important on this occasion it was awfull.
We needed a new fuse for our cigarette…
We needed a new fuse for our cigarette socket to use for putting air in the tyres, buy wasn't sure what size of fuse to use and the access to pop the fuse in, after 5 phones calls to Simpsons Skoda in Colne to the parts department no one called us back over a two day period, we were desperate to find the information because we're are towing our caravan and needed the correct air in our tyres, anyway after the 7th phone call finally Dave picked up and asked technical the size of the fuse, we asked if it was easy to fit and his reply was I have not got the faintest clue and said thanks and put the phone down, anyway a family member managed to help us, a simple question to simple answer took two days numerous phone calls of our time and not once did the parts department ring us back, but their always happy to take our money when the car is due a service.!! Customer service is NILL
