Hotel good food awful!

Food was lovely as always, the grounds are brilliant for our dogs as the hotel is very dog friendly, situation to the beach is fantastic, the staff were very polite. Now the not so good things, although rooms need updating they are ok BUT the beds are absolutely awful, we usually have twin beds but they are so uncomfortable we thought we would try a double bed this holiday hoping it would be more comfortable but we were wrong they were just as bad with springs sticking in your back with every move as well as the loud clonking noise they made. Also the first room we were given had a bad health and safety problem with the heavy Sash window which had to be kept open with a lump of wood, this was unacceptable and therefore we asked to change rooms. It's such a shame as this could be such a beautiful Hotel.

A tired hotel, carpets so old thread bare, old furniture in rooms, but very clean, staff outstanding, restaurant excellent service & food. Location of hotel amazing. Would go again

Hotel location excellent, near all amenities, fabulous sea views from our room which overlooked the gardens and sea. Mattress needs to be changed (springs poking through). A spacious room with three chairs very convenient. Meals were excellent a really good chef serving delicious meals with a good selection. All staff were very pleasant and helpful especially in the restaurant. We will definitely return.

The hotel is lovely, and a great location. The staff were all very good, and sorted out a menu, when we asked for something else, as we didn’t like a particular meal. I would say though, that I didn’t think there were enough plugs in the room, and they were all on one side, and none at all by the bed. I took a little mini fan, as I get very hot at night, and couldn’t plug it in. My room wasn’t cleaned every day, and the tv remote was quite dirty. These are all minor things, and overall, I would stay there again.

Hotel needs a definite refurb to many stairs with threadbare carpets. Evening meals poor no2nd choice breakfast was cold dining staff could not care less we left after 1 night and it also cost us £24 for parking I will never use a shearing hotel again.

We have been to the Imperial many times and seen many changes. Good food. Clean, well maintained room. It hasn't been a Shearings hotel for a long time and we always go self drive. Booking through Shearings is unnecessary. We will be going to the Imperial again but will book direct in future. No need for the middle man.
