I forgot to add c4 ton of sand and 34 cement on a Friday and done a click and deliver but couldn’t deliver it on a Saturday so they rang me and managed to get it out the same day within a couple of hours, made my weekend

To Whom It May Concern,
I’ve been a loyal Selco customer for years, and while I’ve always found your pricing competitive, recent experiences suggest your policies are becoming increasingly anti-customer—especially for trade professionals like myself.
Your in-house rules seem rigid to the point of being impractical. For example, during forklift operations, staff have taken to shouting orders at customers. That kind of tone is unprofessional and frankly insulting—we're experienced tradespeople, not schoolchildren, and we understand the importance of health and safety.
Your delivery restrictions are equally frustrating. On a recent job site—with full concrete trucks, a 35-tonne skip, diggers, and pump lorries present—your driver refused to drop materials onto a clearly solid driveway, insisting on kerbside delivery only. That order was cancelled on the spot. Result? Selco lost out on nearly £70,000 worth of business on that project alone.
Today, I tried to collect 200 bricks. Only after I paid was I told there’d be a 20–30 minute wait due to another delivery being unloaded. No flexibility, no workaround—just a flat refusal to bring out a single pallet. Again, order cancelled. I took my business elsewhere.
Your sheet material cutting policy is another example of how customer value is being eroded. You’ve gone from four free cuts and 50p thereafter, to just two free and £1 per cut—regardless of how many boards I purchase. Where’s the logic or loyalty reward in that?
Let me be clear—I’m not saying I won’t use Selco again, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to justify it. The service feels like it’s tailored more toward DIY customers than serious tradespeople. All I want is:
Reasonable delivery flexibility
Straightforward collections
Respectful, professional communication
Pricing and services that reflect the volume of business I bring
Without trade customers, there is no business. I urge you to rethink these policies before more of us take our trade—and our money—elsewhere.

The staff at selco, marsh barton exeter were incredibly friendly and helpful, particularly michael and jack. you could tell that they were happy working for the company.

Order online for collection , received a message ready to collect to find the item was not in stock. Only a 2 hour round trip wasted.

The monthly trade deals are always worth a look.
They deliver locally too
Staff are always in my experience really approachable and professional.

Great experience at Selco Elland Road. Tanya, one of the sales reps in store went above and beyond sorting a complex order for me from external tile suppliers. Nothing was too much effort and she managed to save me some decent money after ringing round and speaking with managers. Great service and an asset to your team. We keep getting invoices for materials delivered to the same address near my son's home, it is a home which is being renovated, we have stopped using my account and just use my son's and advised selco of this multiple times but it happened again, I told them again, but nothing changes. We are closing the accounts now and using other suppliers which is a pity, but better in the long run, people check your accounts

We do not like their services , so slow and they do not care.

Selco Hanger lane. You need to change your attitude, after delivery I noticed that they forgot to deliver woven bin bags, so I call them, they apologise because out of stock, unfortunately they didn't refund , so I went there and I was told that I was not charged for it, after proving they are wrong they refund, I spend 1h there to get refund for £8 really? The staff there need some lesson how to deal with customers. Don't treat someone who spend £8000 for materials like, you know what.

Zero customer service, very rude, no apologies when they make mistakes, all in all just rubs you up the wrong way

I went to this selco store in hayes in London.
Wanted to buy some timber and paint sockets etc. Little upgrade to my house.
So I asked the staff for help..
,,Excuse me,, I said. The lady looked at me obviously bored just by being there let alone someone asking for help. She obviously did not wanna talk just had this awful attitude...
Anyways I left without making any purchases and went to wickes instead. Nice helpful staff..spent around 800 pound at wickes.
So sorry selco but I stick to wickes instead

Despite some confusion from inital conversation, everything was sorted out and a tricky delivery with access issues was arranged, and took place, brilliantly. Thanks to Kevin at the LLanishen branch and especially to Matthew the driver, who not only rung in the morning to talk through the delivery and give a time of arrival, but also run just before arriving and was great in the service at the property. Thank you.
