Riverside Payments is a SCAM

Riverside Payments is a SCAM. They will lie to you in person and misrepresent the terms of the contract to lock you into a 4-year contract with hidden fees. It's baffling that they are still around and haven't been shut down by the proper authorities.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service! They lied to me about my pricing and are still holding me to the contract. Then
I get bombarded with emails/phone calls from Sara Ledbetter. She is the senior account specialist. She didnt help at all.

Don't use Riverside Payments. The owners clearly understand how their employees are treating customers and they do not care. I sent one of the owners an email and he never responded

I would not give any stars if that was…

I would not give any stars if that was possible! I was told all I would have to pay a month was 379.00 a would save money every month Lies I told them I didn’t want a contract and was assured I could cancel . Called today to cancel and was told about the 48 months to pay for Clover machine non cancellation contract. It will cost fifteen thousand dollars to get out of this . I also told them we are looking to sell our business and would be this next year. I would like to know how to get out of this nightmare! This is costing way more than what I was paying before. Tried to call today the Lyla that set us up and no answer not even a voicemail. They must set you up and then block you. I would love to get a lawyer . Please make sure you don’t sign anything without reading with your lawyer. DO NOT use this company!!!!

NO ethics. Horrible Company

In August 2022 my business partner at the time initiated contact with Riverside Payments regarding leasing a Mini Clover for a POS. She was the person that held the relationship with Riverside Payments until she left the business in January of 2025. In May of 2024 the Mini Clover POS Device was shutting down intermittently. As my business partner had informed me that she was leaving the business I initiated conversations with Riverside Payments regarding the issue of the device. After a call with Technical support in May, 2024 they determined it was necessary to replace the Mini Clover. I spoke with several Representatives over the course of the next 8 months that it took to finally receive a replacement Mini Clover. In those eight months I continued to pay for the device. Also in those eight months I was unable to process credit card payments intermittently losing profits in sales. During those eight months and several phone calls to Riverside Payments, not one Representative informed me that they could assist in connecting back up equipment. Only very recently was I informed of this. I filed a claim which was useless. The Representative that is responsible for my ticket is one of the same Representatives that I spoke with between May and December of 2024 that ensured and promised twice a replacement device was to be overnighted This is a conflict of interest as this Representative is part of the issues. I have requested my ticket be taken over by a Supervisor and that I am requesting to file a grievance but she only responded with a claim for me to buy out the lease and back payment on the device. I have not used the device since July 1st. They have not requested any of the equipment be returned. I will be dissolving my business by October 31st 2025. I sent a certified, notarized letter of intent (at their request) but they stated it is not acceptable to release me from the lease.

STAY AWAY. WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER WORKED WITH

I’m a new small business owner trying to get my car dealership off the ground, and signing up with Riverside Payments was the biggest mistake I could’ve made. From the very beginning, they failed to provide me with all the necessary equipment. Once everything finally arrived, the real nightmare started.

Despite asking multiple times — over ten times before signing up — whether there would be any fees, I was repeatedly assured there were none. That turned out to be a lie. I was shocked to discover I was being charged over $600 a month as an "equipment fee." When I started asking questions and pushing back, they retaliated by placing a hold on over $30,000 of my processing, claiming it was under review for “risk/fraud.” The only fraud happening here is them.

I’ve poured everything I have into this dealership, and now I'm on the verge of losing it all because of Riverside Payments. To make matters worse, I was later told my account was closed and that I needed to deal with some other company I’ve never even heard of — which, after looking them up, somehow has even worse reviews than Riverside.

What’s more disturbing is that every decent employee I spoke with during this ordeal is no longer there. A few even told me privately to stay far away from Riverside and that they were fired just for "asking too many questions."

This company is toxic. Avoid at all costs.

Deceptive sales practices! Horrible Service

Opening a small business in today's economy is hard enough without companies such as Riverside using the deceptive tactics, they used on me to get me to change my processing to them. They utilized PB Payments to provide lie after lie, use high pressure sales tactics and even a "guarantee of savings" to get me to sign up with them. I was told "get as much equipment as you want it doesn't cost anything" I was told $499 would be my approximate processing per month, not the cost of equipment per month. They "guaranteed" I would pay 1.48% - 3.99%. They charged 4.36%, 6.5%, 8.15%, 4.63%, 5.32% and 6.8%. I could not get help from anyone at either company as they could not figure out what was wrong. The withdrawals from my account were enormous. $620 for equipment monthly $150 for clover charges monthly, (neither of which I was told about) then the enormous processing charges on top of that. This is astronomical to a new business trying to make it. I requested cancellation (based on their guarantee and I was not being charged what was in the guarantee) in August before they put me out of business.

What a nightmare, I called RIVERSIDE to cancel they sent me to PB PAYMENTS, and back and forth, back and forth with no accountability. Each company said the other had to take care of it. I completely stopped processing with them in November and went directly through Clover. Meanwhile I am still being billed $16,000 for the lease they said they would pay off if I did not save money. with processing through Riverside.

I had an attorney intervene and they went so far as to say I "toggled off" the cash discount program so I broke the guarantee. Why would anyone turn something off that would save them money?

I even contacted the owner of Riverside Payments and all he did was send me back to PB Payments who said they upheld their end of guarantee. I asked how, she said they fixed the processing charges, I asked when? She said it was January of 2025, two months after I went to another company.

I would NEVER recommend this company or Pb Payments to anyone. The salesman (one of my customers) even quit working there due to the way they lied to customers to get them to sign up.

They clearly only care about their commissions and bottom line to deceive people like this.

LIARS LIARS LIARS

I, too, was lied to. I was told there were no monthly fees and that we did not need any equipment as we could process the card the same way we were currently doing it. Then, a few weeks later, credit card terminals showed up, and a $309.00 bill was charged to our checking account for the equipment lease. I was also told I could cancel at any time. I was also told I would only be charged a set rate of 1.76%. NONE OF THIS IS TRUE. My wife and I both were told by the sales rep as well as a manager back at their headquarters OVER THE PHONE ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS BEFORE SIGNING UP THAT THERE was not any MONTHLY FEES PERIOD and we could cancel at any time. Then we signed up, and a box of equipment showed up that we also said we did not need as we process all credit cards through our computer. They told us we would process cards the same way with their company.
We have called for three weeks to request our money back and cancel the program. They have yet to cancel and have had four managers call to talk us into staying with them. NOW, WE WERE TOLD WE CAN'T CANCEL FOR 48 MONTHS AND THAT WE WILL BE BILLED EVERY MONTH FOR THE LEASE.
PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE LIARS, AND DO NOT GO TO WORK FOR THEM. I read many reviews from former employees who were lied to and unaware of the SHADY PRACTICES.

After reading all the reviews, my attorney and I plan to start a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM.

Fruad!

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with Horizon Payments, which is now operating under the name Riverside Payments, to warn others about their deceptive practices. I believe they're using this new name to cover their tracks, as they've been involved in shady dealings before. Here’s what happened to me:

My Experience:
Misleading Contract Terms: I was contacted by sales representatives from Riverside Payments, who assured me that their contract was cancelable at any time. However, after signing, I discovered that the contract is non-cancelable and involves a leasing agreement with a third party called Cascade. This was completely different from what they told me.

Recorded Evidence: I have a recorded phone call with one of their sales reps, Shalena Reynolds, in virginia where she confirms the contract is cancelable, which turned out to be a blatant lie. It’s clear that I was deliberately misled.

Operating Under a New Name: I discovered that Horizon Payments has a history of unfair practices and has even been sued by the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) in the past. It seems they’ve changed their name to Riverside Payments to avoid further scrutiny and continue their deceptive business practices.

Let’s make sure others don’t fall victim to this company’s tactics. Share this post to spread the word, and if you’ve had a similar experience with them, please share your story below.

Stay safe, everyone! 💪

Really regret letting these people come…

Really regret letting these people come for a sales pitch. Deceptive, locked us in a 4 yr contract with fine print that was not mentioned in sales pitch. Given guarantee letter so decided to give them a try. Then came the fees. It wasn't worth doing hours of training for a very small margin of savings, so told them we needed to cancel, especially since the fees were way more than we currently pay, therefore voiding our contract. They won't refund the fees and continue to take money out of our account. My only advice is STAY FAR AWAY!
