Parley Car Centre has been established to offer a wide range of reasonably priced vehicles to the local and surrounding area. We are a family owned business that has been operating in Poole Dorset for over 30 years. And are pleased to have opened our second branch in Parley Wood. In that time we have established a vast network of suppliers giving us the ability to offer a vast selection of hand selected used vehicles at hugely competitive prices in a professional & experienced working environment. Primarily being a car wholesale trade to trade company, we are in a strong position to source quality pre owned vehicles from main dealers with the correct service history and documentation."

TOTAL SCAMMER AND HAS NO CONSCIENCE
I have written an earlier review saying to avoid this Company which I still re-iterate. I have put in small claims and CCJ . I have checked Companies House website today and see there is an active proposal to strike off the Company. Sam Self has no conscience selling dangerous cars or the fact people tske him to Court. He writes his own 5 star reviews in his own name to counteract all the negative ones. I am hoping to enforce the CCJ with bailiffs. I am sure he will continue trading under another name - PLEASE EVERYONE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HIM
Avoid! Court action underway
Viewed a car on the 20.10.25 and was badly misadvertised, as much as this could be a simple mistake due a similar car being in the lot, it feels this has occurred before when reading reviews. Despite this a fair deal felt to be made and I purchased the car and was due to be delivered with Sam planning to do an MOT, fit parking sensors and send over the full service history.
A few days later I was sent photo's of a physical service log book, this raised red flags for me after being told during purchase that this cars service history was now all digital and expecting some form of digital print. Upon looking through the photos I realised that all the services had been carried out by the same garage, again rasing suspicion due to the car having multiple owners. The number on the stamp did not work but I contacted the garage after a quick online search where the garage was able to confirm that 1. They had no record of the car and 2. The stamp was not authentic. I could speculate over the acquirement of this log book where the handwriting is eerily similar in places between the contract drawn up on purchase and the false service book but I cannot factually claim anything. I reconfirmed with Sam that this was indeed the correct log book due to expecting a digital copy, Sam then claimed he had been waiting for it from the last owner which contradicted earlier statements that it was being sourced from Ssangyong, though confirmed it was the right book. After confirming himself the stamps were fake Sam offered to cancel the deal.
A lengthy process then ensued on trying to reclaim the refund. I saw an installment of £2100 more than two weeks after cancellation due to Sam not having the money and the 'money already being reinvested'. I was informed I would get the money after a car sale. I felt as though I was being used as a loan and reviews around the time mentioned car sales so this all felt like a farce. I was often met with radio silence and repeatedly unable to get into contact with Sam, he would conveniently not be in or I had just missed him. Often times only able to get through on a different number and when recognising who it was, suddenly Sam would have just left. I have since escalated my claim to court which has been a stressful and inconclusive experience and currently have a judgement against Parley, though remain to see the remainder of the refund, over £2000, with the company now being insolvent with legal action still proceeding.
Such a good experience
Such a good experience. Genuinely I was so nervous buying a new car but am so pleased I bought a car here. Very relaxed with no pressure selling.

Caveat Emptor!
If you want truly great service and excellent cars…
…whatever you do, stay a million miles away from Parley Car Centre!!
Over the last 50 years I have purchased many cars, from many car dealers, some good, some bad but, in all that time I have never found a dealer so utterly untrustworthy and contemptable as Mr. Samuel Self and Parley Car Centre!
He is a liar, a thief and possibly the most ignorant individual I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
I bought a Land Rover Freelander 2 from him last May (2025) which turned out to have a number of faults, including (but not limited to) the brakes (which needed replacing), the intercooler (which was leaking), the cambelt (which had to be changed along with the water pump) and the auto gearbox (which was causing intense juddering at certain speeds).
On telling him I was going to have the car checked over by my local Land Rover dealer, he got extremely abusive and said he didn’t “…want to be finger-f**ked by some local garage”. How pleasant!!
I actually managed to “persuade” him to cough the repair cost of the brakes and intercooler, but only after agreeing to pay 50% towards it! How nice of him to accept my 50%!!!
I also noticed that the rear sun blind was missing which, when I queried it with him, he said it had been removed because it “was hanging down” (not in the Autotrader photos, it wasn’t) and anyway, he “didn’t think [I] would notice”! WTF!! He obviously believed it was quite OK for him to steal something from a car that I had already paid for!
I eventually had to take him to the Small Claims Court and while I did not win the full amount I was claiming, it would not have made any difference if I’d won the total amount, as Sam Self has simply ignored every Court request and couldn’t even be bothered to turn up to either hearing. He has also not paid the judgement amount (approx. £1,800) and when I asked the Court what next steps I should take, they simply said (and I am quoting the judge verbatim) “Look on Google”! I kid you not! That was the sum-total of his advice!
Needless to say, I simply cannot be bothered to waste any more of my time and money, chasing a corrupt car dealer but, what I can do is warn others about Mr. Samual Self and his car dealership, Parley Car Centre.
As I said at the beginning of this review…
If you want truly great service and excellent cars, whatever you do, stay a million miles away from Parley Car Centre!!
By the way, Sam Self, if you want to challenge me on any of the above, I’ll see you in court, along with the complete documentary record I have kept of my unfortunate dealings with you and your company.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not part with…
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not part with any money with this dealer, we are still owed a £500 deposit since Dec 25 because we decided not to buy a car that wasn’t up to standard after some reg flags were revealed on the MOT. We have had to take the matter to the authorities to recover our money, I URGE you to stay away from this dealer. Our quality of life has been impacted hugely by the actions of this dealer and I do not want anyone to have to go through what we have been through. PLEASE STAY AWAY.
I paid a £1135 deposit to Parley Car…
I paid a £1135 deposit to Parley Car Centre Ltd for a VW Passat advertised on AutoTrader, with collection agreed for the following day. After payment, I was informed by the dealer that there were issues with the vehicle, initially relating to a tyre pressure sensor and later that the wheel was cracked and required replacement.
Due to these issues, I cancelled the purchase and requested a full refund. The dealer confirmed that the refund would be arranged and later stated they were temporarily short on cash but would send the money shortly. Unfortunately, despite these assurances, I have still not received my refund and communication has stopped.
I have retained all invoices and written communication regarding this matter and have had to issue a formal demand while considering further action to recover my funds. Based on my experience, I would advise buyers to proceed carefully and ensure appropriate payment protections before transferring money.

About a month ago purchased a fiat 500x diesel from Sam. Purchased on line because of the distance had a driver pick the vehicle up for me. On the drive back the engine management light come but did not put it in safe mode so told the driver to continue and I would contact Sam the next day. Contacted Sam the next day told me to take the car to a garage and ask them to do a diagnostic on the car and let Sam no the problems which they did. It emerged it was two sencers and injectors leaking phoned Sam and told him the garage did not do warranty work he told me to tell the garage to invoice Sam directly and he would do a bank transfer which he did. The cost was over 900 pounds i picked the car up all issues solved thanks to Sam lovely little car for the wife i highly recommend parleycarcentre a few small issues which you expect from a second hand car but taken care of by Sam. thanks sam
Someone else purchased the car we returned….
We were unsure whether to leave a review, as our experience was relatively straightforward and we did receive a full refund. However, we were left feeling a little uneasy and confused by the whole process.
We bought a Peugeot 208 from here a couple of months ago in June (which looks to be the same car that someone else has purchased and later returned in reviews). Within 30 minutes of leaving the garage, the engine warning light came on. We were advised to turn the engine off and on again to solve the issue, but the warning light reappeared again a couple of days later. After the initial engine light came on we had already booked the car to a trusted local garage, who strongly advised us to return it immediately and invoke our consumer rights due to an oil leak.
To their credit, the dealership did honour this and issued a full refund minus admin fees, and the return process itself was relatively smooth. However, it was disappointing that we had to rely on a third-party garage to identify a fault that should have been spotted before the sale.
What concerns us most is that, since returning the car, we’ve seen another review (with photos) describing what appears to be the very same vehicle breaking down again with a similar fault. This raises some questions about whether the underlying issue was ever properly resolved before the car was resold. Sam himself confirmed with us that there is an active oil leak and that they would investigate further. It is concerning that they are selling cars out there without rectifying the issue.
Overall, we got the refund and it was a relatively smooth process (other than costing us the admin fee, and wasting time), but seeing the same car break down, with a very similar story to us raises some questions.
The world can be an unkind nasty place…
The world can be an unkind nasty place to be but ……. Sam Self makes it that much worse.
We arranged to pick up our new car on Sunday 7th Sept.
Jamal….” the sales assistant” kindly checked over the car and did the paperwork. He was very persuasive with regards to sending off the logbook, which we found strange and have informed the DVLA of. He promised the invoices of any work carried out on the car, which we had been asking for, would be emailed over to us.
The car got us as far as 28 miles down the road. The service light came on.
A further 12 miles from home “Stop engine oil pressure fault” came on.
At this point we phoned Jamal who said it was an ignition fault and to take the key out and restart!! We phoned the AA …they advised as we were so close to home, the car will get home and take it to the garage.
At this time, we thought surely it can’t be that bad and may just need a service.
Monday morning the car had a full diagnostic check on it and a thorough road worthy check by our trusted local garage. The car came up with over 30 diagnostic issues and an engine covered in oil underneath. This was due to a wet belt being wrongly fitted. There were up to 4 mechanics looking over that car. All couldn’t understand how any garage could put a car this bad on the forecourt, let alone watch a women drive away in it.
We emailed Sam Self continually with the diagnostics report and 6 photos of the engine covered in oil. None were answered.
We had the AA tow the car back to Parley Car Centre on Wednesday 10th.
Well…..surprise…Sam wasn’t there, after emails and a short phone call to him to let him know, we were coming.
We were met by Jamal who seemed surprised to see us. He refused to give us a refund as he said “the car was ok on the test drive” …Really!!!! Consumer rights seem to be unheard of!!!
After a lot of persuasive conversation Jamal got Sam on the phone.
Sam became quite “vocal” to us very early into the conversation. We informed him of our Consumer Rights. He became very aggressive towards Jamal down the phone. Shouting “refund them and get them out”, it all became very intimidating, very weird and very unprofessional. Not a word of apology or an any form of empathy was shown to us. How naive we were to give him the benefit of the doubt from his bad reviews.
As we have a business ourselves, we have never been spoken to like this before.
His” after sales customer service” is non-existent and the atmosphere in that office was very toxic…something we have never encountered in all our years of business.
As the AA man had witnessed all of this, his remark was “How can one man with so much aggression think he can run a business”.
We never heard of Sam Self again or his assistant Jamal, which we find quite unbelievable. No follow up call, no email to apologise for our bad experience with his company, not even to ask if we are ok. He doesn’t care and don’t be fooled into thinking he does. He has no moral compass and is a poor excuse to the motor trade.
Trading Standards,AA,Trustpilot, Google Business, DVLA have all been informed of his business conduct.
His website is full of misleading information…Health Check…really??
“We offer a 7 day back money guarantee” …. only after Sam has been aggressive and vocal to you first!! Oh, and he still charged us £150 for an alloy refurb on a car we no longer have…he obviously needs every penny he can get!!
A lot of our friends in business are amazed and dumbfounded by our experience. We have come to the conclusion his positive reviews are those done by his wife, family and friends to keep up his score, which is laughable in any business.
We plead with you to learn by our mistake and don’t make it your mistake by dealing with this company. We have told the truth.
Sammy Self doesn’t know how to reply to emails, but no doubt he WILL reply to this review….
28 miles of driving one of his cars bought us so much stress and upset. Please stay away from this car dealer trader.

We bought a car from here last month and they were great when we came to view and test drive, very honest and helpful with info. They did a MOT on the car before we bought it and made sure it had no advisories on it before we got it.
Sam then stayed late on a Friday for us to pick it up and stayed until we had it all sorted. Hopefully the car lasts a long time but the service was great.

Bought a car from SAM SELF at Parley Carcentre.co.uk
I have not been able to use it since last September and SAM SELF does not reply to endless emails and is not prepared to do anything, This is the report below I have had to make my car driveable. And he still hasn't registered the warranty I paid £395 for!!
Hi Kym,
With reference to our telephone conversation and an estimate for the work on your Mitsubishi ASX.
The price for the replacement parts for the rear suspension is £1609.50 inc vat. (this includes the 3 latitudinal arms per side, the longitudinal trailing arms per side and the camber adjusting bolts and washers for both sides)
As I mentioned on the phone, it's difficult to give you a price for the labour, however, I would imagine it's probably going to be between 4 - 5 hours work, but this is an estimate.
To help you gauge, our labour rate is £66 per hour plus V.A.T.
As previously mentioned, hopefully this will correct the rear camber and alignment issue with the vehicle but cannot 100% guarantee it will (hopefully it will) as the issue could still be the subframe that the previous garage fitted.
4 wheel alignment £96 inc V.A.T.
Also, the price for the work on the rear brakes (replacement of seized O/S rear brake caliper, replacement of worn rear brake discs and brake pads, unseize N/S rear brake caliper carrier slider bolts and bleeding of hydraulic brake system) is £492.23, this is the price for parts, labour and V.A.T
Hope this information helps and if you need anymore information/help don't hesitate to call me.
Many thanks.

Give this site a visit, you will not be disappointed
Over heard a chap in the pub saying he had been to the Parley Centre and bought a car that was excellent. I was looking for a specific and went on the website and saw what I wanted. Visited Sam at his site, and found him to be honest and trustworthy. No hard sales push, just a very nice bloke. I noticed all his were clean and well valeted and My car was at an exceptionally good price. Purchased and have not looked back. After sales care has been good as well, any problems just give Sam a call, hopefully wont have to do that. Will definitely return
Highly recommend!
I had been hunting for a new car for a little while and stumbled upon Parley Car Centers website where there were loads of great cars at great prices. So my Dad and I took a trip down and found a lovely Volvo which was well within my price range and looked great! I called Sam and he was super helpful, always going above and beyond what I was asking and made the buying process as easy as it could possibly be. He never once pressured me into buying and it was all left for my judgement, which I was highly appreciative of!
He sorted out my warranty, put a new not and service on, which was included in the price of the car, and I couldn’t be happier.
I would and have recommended Sam to anyone who is looking for a new car.
Great work Sam, very much appreciated!
Thank you sam
Thank you sam, you have been so easy to deal with. I am so happy with my new car I will be recommending.
