Established in 1989 by Martin Gibbons, it has since expanded into the 4 acre nursery in Richmond where we grow, propagate and source a large variety of both indoor and outdoor plants, from the rare and unusual to those more common place in horticulture today.
The Palm Centre is a 4 acre nursery which includes several large glasshouses and outdoor display areas, situated in the old kitchen gardens of Ham House, right by the River Thames in Richmond.
We specialise in a wide range of plants from palm trees to herbaceous perennials. Our established relationships with growers all around Europe and further afield allow us to hold a diverse range of plants for your home, garden or bigger landscaping projects.
Our online shop is a selection of the broader stock you can browse at our nursery in Ham, London. Come and visit the nursery to see an even wider selection, featuring the largest specimens we have.
We love the unusual and the large, and aim to keep good stock levels as consistent as possible. However, with the range we carry and the seasonal nature of our industry it’s not always achievable.

A great plant nursery
Having visited The Palm Centre many times over the last 10 years, I must say that it is steadily improving. Along side the specialist large plants it has always provided it is now also stocking a good selection of perennials, even some of the rarer specimens. I have always wondered why it had not expanded it's selection in order to compete with the nearby Petersham Nursery (that ladies-who-lunch/Instagrammer destination which passes as a nursery).So fingers crossed the good changes continues and we have a decent nursery right in the middle of Ham.

Excellent company! Excellent service! Excellent plants! Excellent packaging that was carefully and cleverly done without overdoing it and all recyclable materials used which is what I like. My bamboo Campbell plants were great value for money too and in excellent condition!

I recently ordered plants from The Palm Centre and was impressed with the quick delivery and careful packaging. All plants arrived in excellent condition and were healthier and more substantial than expected. Great value for the price. I’m very pleased with the quality and would definitely recommend them.

Excellent Plants and Service from The Palm Centre
I recently ordered a Cordyline australis (juvenile, 5L pot) and a Fargesia rufa (18L pot) from The Palm Centre, and I was thoroughly impressed. Both plants arrived in excellent condition—healthy, well-packaged, and true to the descriptions and dimensions given online.
The quality of the specimens was outstanding, and they’ve made a beautiful addition to the garden. Delivery was prompt and hassle-free, and the whole process felt very professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Palm Centre and will definitely return for future planting needs.

First time purchasing from The Palm…
First time purchasing from The Palm Centre and I have already recommended them. The palm I ordered was just as described and pictured, packed incredibly well, and updates given from time of ordering on what to expect, all the way through to dispatch, when it was delivered the next day. Extremely pleased with the quality of palm I received and overall an easy and great shopping experience.

Stunning palm
Surpassed my expectations! I ordered a gorgeous Licuala palm which is now a jewel of my collection and I couldn’t be happier with it. Friendly and helpful customer service, high quality plants, would definitely recommend!

Broken pots - no response from seller
Ordered several pots from PalmCentre (verified order PCW36763). 2 arrived broken and another 1 damaged (although usable). Despite contacting PalmCentre twice to request return or refund I have received no response.
