Repeated Post-Delivery Surcharges on Identical Shipments – Not Acceptable
We have used PACK & SEND’s Online Self Service for repeat shipments using the exact same box, same contents, same dimensions, same weight range, and same route.
Despite this consistency, we have now been charged multiple “Manual Handling Surcharges” after delivery for shipments that are materially identical to many others that travelled through their network without issue.
When challenged, the explanation provided was that invisible or unspecified factors during depot processing may trigger automatic charges. No evidence was provided. No measurable difference was identified. Just a generic reference to automation systems and terms & conditions.
In other words: identical shipments may or may not attract additional charges, and you won’t know until after your credit card has been charged.
That is not transparent pricing.
That is not predictable commercial practice.
And it is not acceptable for businesses relying on consistent freight costs.
What is most concerning is the pattern — repeated post-billing adjustments on shipments with no meaningful variation.
If you are a business sending repeat freight, be aware that even if nothing changes on your end, your final cost might.
Very disappointing experience.

Manual handling surcharges are applied by carriers when a parcel is assessed within their automated depot network as not suitable for standard conveyor processing. While consignments may appear identical at dispatch, factors such as bulkiness, weight distribution, packaging characteristics, or markings (for example, “fragile” or “handle with care”) can trigger manual assessment under updated carrier rules. These determinations are made within high-volume automated environments where thousands of items move through conveyor systems every hour, and neither we nor the carriers photograph or individually document each assessment.
We want to be clear that neither our business nor our carrier partners are in the practice of applying charges arbitrarily. Changes within the freight network and carrier compliance requirements do occur, and as these evolve, we must adjust our online service and pricing structures accordingly. For this reason, previous shipments cannot always be used as a direct comparison to current consignments.
That said, we are open to reviewing your specific shipments further. We appreciate your feedback and acknowledge the importance of transparency as industry conditions continue to change.

Very fast delivery and zero fuss
I had to send a heavy package to a fairly remote location, and was surprised that the package arrived 1 day after it was picked up. The ordering process was also super simple. I'll use Pack n Send again for sure.

PACK & SEND is a freight service provider and does not operate as the carrier. We work with carriers to transport shipments, and our warranty covers loss or damage only when purchased. In this case, no warranty was purchased for the shipment. According to the carrier’s records, one item was booked and signed for as delivered successfully. While we are unable to take responsibility for loss in shipments without warranty, we remain committed to assisting our customers in understanding and navigating the claims process when coverage is in place.

It was nice to be greeted by friendly helpful staff at the Albion branch. They helped me repack and print labels to make it an easy final process after booking online. Postage was very reasonable and provided a quick efficient service. I would use again.

Delayed delivery
Booked online and dropped to Pack & Send Canberra on 23 December. Item was not picked up until 6 January. Took another 14 days to get delivered to a Melbourne city location. Had to send photos of package to help locate it. Delivery time was supposed to be 2-3 days.☹️

Very efficient service
The online booking system is so easy to use. Package is either picked up very efficiently or I can deliver myself close by to Canning Vale. Staff and drivers are very helpful and it always arrives on time and without breakages. Rates are reasonable as well.

Send documents overseas. It was much cheaper than all the other courier services but you need access to a printer. Once all labels printed,
I dropped off to my local Pack and Send,
And it was very easy. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars was that it arrived 1 day later than expected and the recipient had to change the delivery instructions to leave in a safe place instead of Sign for as there was no one home that day. The tracking was great, and I would definitely use again as better

Easy enough to arrange online stating loc date and time frames.
After some slight confusion on Pick Up date as they needed confirmation of pick up date/time, for some reason, all went very well.
Delivery to WA country was quick and package arrived in good condition.
Definitely would have given 5 Stars if not for the slight confusion as stated above.
