The level of of training was often superficial with no academic referencing and poor methods of assessment
There were no aims or learning outcomes on the powerpoint slides I saw. Also, there were no references -so much of the training material was anecdotal. The level of training on occassion was quite superficial and this was reflected in the language used on the slides e.g. "today's lession will include..." this language was reminescent of my primary school days. There was an over reliance on the use of multiple choice questions but no evidence of statistical analysis to test the internal consistency of questions- so many of these were invalid. Tutors were under pressure by office staff to complete and submit large amounts of paperwork, so they were unable to give each session the attention and the time deserved by participants. These issues concerned me greatly so I brought my freelance contract with Orchard Rock to an end and I am now happily engaged as a trainer with other companies who are more than happy with the level of training and committment provided.
