Misleading, Rude and Unfriendly

The people at the front desk are very rude and customer unfriendly. I had 2 free passes from the advertisement they did on Facebook. Day 1 - I faced no concerns and they also confirmed that I have another free pass that I can use. When I come the next day, they refuse to honor the second day free pass. They did not even bother to see my free pass email that was unused. They had no concerns about the confirmation their own staff gave me that I have another free pass. The manager was not present and did not pick up the call. They are just making fool of people with false information. Waste of time.Beware of joining them

Poor Communication, Billing Issues, and Lack of Accountability

My experience with OneLife Fitness has been disappointing—not because mistakes were made, but because of how they were handled.

From the time we enrolled, we were given incorrect information on multiple occasions. We were told an upgraded membership was required to visit other OneLife locations, which was not accurate. We were also given incorrect information about when the Annual Enhancement Fee would be charged.

Three months after joining, we were unexpectedly charged the Annual Enhancement Fee. Because the transaction appeared under **"FitnessSCr"** instead of **"OneLife"** on my bank statement, I did not recognize it and believed it to be fraudulent. As a result, I froze and ultimately closed my bank account, opened a new one, and had to update numerous automatic payments—a significant inconvenience that could have been avoided.

What was most disappointing was the lack of accountability. Rather than acknowledging the repeated misinformation provided by their staff, I was told it was my responsibility to read the membership agreement which had the correct timeframe for the maintenance charges. While I understand members should review agreements, customers also reasonably rely on staff to accurately explain the membership they are selling.

There are several simple improvements that would greatly enhance the customer experience:

* Display **"OneLife"** instead of **"FitnessSCr"** on bank transactions.
* Email receipts immediately after successful payments.
* Send advance notifications for non-recurring charges such as the Annual Enhancement Fee.
* Ensure staff are thoroughly trained on membership terms and billing policies so they provide accurate information.

The gym itself is good, but customer service is about more than facilities—it's about communication, accuracy, and taking responsibility when mistakes occur. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

Beautiful gym

Beautiful gym. The facility is clean and the staff and clients are friendly and welcoming. I joined to take advantage of the Recovery facilities and have been very pleased with them.

This is not just a place for young, fit people; all ages come here, especially those of us who are of retirement age.

Ryan and Rich helped me out today when I was charged for an expensive training package that I did not agree to by a trainer; I did not even have an appointment with him until next week.

The trainer should be fired for having me unknowingly sign a blank contract and then adding a weekly training package and my credit card information to it.

I told him repeatedly that I was not ready to agree to a training package before I had had my complimentary training sessions. I also told him that my wife would never agree to an expensive training package under any circumstances.

This was our first week, and we were trying out the facilities with great enjoyment.

I know that both Ryan and Rich will handle the trainer appropriately. He’s lucky that I’m not his boss because he would be fired immediately.

I look forward to coming back to my “happy place” (OneLife Fitness in Olney MD) every week for as long as I am able.

Be very, very careful if you're considering their personal training membership.

Be very, very careful if you're considering their personal training membership.

Their sales team is excellent at selling you a dream. I signed up for a three-month personal training package that cost aroun $1,300 per month. When I signed up, my trainer told me it would be fine if I just let him know a few weeks before the membership ended if I wanted to cancel.

That's exactly what I did. Then I got a call saying they were going to charge me for another full month because, according to the contract, my cancellation was a few days late. They subtly threatened me, in a friendly way, by reminding me that I had signed the contract and that they would enforce it. It honestly felt more like I was talking to a lawyer. It felt like they cared more about enforcing the fine print than treating a customer fairly.

On top of that, there were multiple times when I was paying for one-on-one personal training, but I was asked to join group sessions while still being charged for one-on-one training.

I also played tennis there, and that experience wasn't much better. Their court reservation system doesn't seem to work reliably. One time, security came to the court and asked me to leave even though I showed him my confirmation email. His response was simply that my reservation wasn't in their system, even though their own system had sent me the confirmation. I also don't believe sending a security officer was an appropriate way to handle that situation, especially when I had a valid confirmation email showing my court reservation.

Overall, I was left with the impression that this is not a customer-first organization. In my experience, maximizing revenue seemed to take priority over treating customers fairly or resolving issues reasonably.

I won't be joining Onelife ever again, and I wouldn't recommend signing a long-term personal training agreement without reading every detail of the contract very carefully.

This is not only a gym

This is not only a gym, it's a life style. Anyone saying anything other than this gym is great, can't be serious about working out. The capital hill joint isn't the best but the classes are great. They need a strike studio. The one in Clinton is like a gym Mecca. Boxing classes, kick boxing classes, swimming pool, hot tub, massage room, space, great coaches, etc. I mean any and everything to get u right. This is a Life style.

Frustrated member!

Been a member for year and a half at the McLean location.
I have tried to address my issue with the corporate office but after 48 hours have still not heard back
I took a guest with me on Monday and the lady at the front desk jumped out of her chair to grab the “potential future member” before my guest finished the form. As soon as she found out my guest was from out of town she said only local members are accepted as guest and she rudely walked away motioning to the receptionist to charge us $20 guest fee
This is j wall a very low class facility
The hygiene is really poor. A class at 10 am was filthy with hair everywhere
Equipments and mats are outdated
Beginning of 2026 there was a swarm of new members and the classes became overfillled and machines unavailable
When I complained they said it’s only January and it will get better! Now in April still overcrowded
The membership services or as I call them “future member services” are rude and mainly interested in recruiting members
Onelife in general lacks customer service

Unprofessional service

Unprofessional service; billing is unreliable.
• Fees increase every year; my account was mixed up 3 times in a year.
• Some equipment is old and poorly maintained.
• Be careful—cancel if not using the gym to avoid unexpected charges.

No Supervision

I’ve been disappointed with the overall experience at this location. The facility is not well-maintained—parking lot and locker rooms are often dirty, which reflects a lack of care. This morning was especially frustrating. The staff member who opened the gym was rude and dismissive toward members. Her comment, “Count this as a blessing that we opened at this time,” was completely unprofessional. It seems she doesn’t understand that members are paying customers and deserve respect. There also appears to be no supervision or accountability for staff behavior, which is concerning.
I hope management takes these issues seriously and improves cleanliness, customer service, and staff oversight.

Glossy image conceals problems

Glossy image conceals problems. Music too loud on aerobics deck. Sometimes you hear TWO different tunes from different parts of the very large floor. They don't enforce rules, like no phone use in locker rooms or sauna (are they taking photos?), or the requirement to shower before swimming. Mgmt is unresponsive to suggestions or complaints. Sorry I joined.

ONELIFE FITNESS STERLING VA

ONELIFE FITNESS STERLING VA
Extremely disturbing to report that this gym has no HOT WATER in the locker room and the issue has existed for over a year but the management has failed to fix the issue even though they are clearly aware of it. It creates an extremely unhealthy environment as members are using the hot tub and pool without showering. EXTREMELY POOR MAINTENANCE

Best gym in Atlanta Metro

I really like this gym! Very friendly and they always greet me coming in and when I leave! More often than not. I’ve had training, my trainer was Kam, he is THE BEST! Very concerned about your workout and they will help you with anything!
Once my daughter got sick, she had overworked herself and was nauseous. She regurgitated and they were right there with towels to help. Even on lookers reached in to help and give her water. They are real and I appreciate this staff

APEX workouts in Old Town, Alexandria

OneLife has a fitness center in Old Town, Alexandria Virginia, and I've attended for the past three years. My membership lets me visit other OneLife gyms, and I train (with Trainer Eliot Hyche) at the gym in Crystal Park. I participate in classes at the Old Town gym, and for the past three years I've taken the APEX course taught by Jennifer Foster.

The course is intense, flexible, and really, really helpful. I started taking Jen's course because it fit well within my goals: I wanted to improve my balance and resilience, and I wanted to gain upper body strength. This course met each of these objectives.

Over the course of 60 minutes, we dive into five circuits, with four exercises in each circuit. Jen does a great job of keeping the music active, and personally does the work with us, so we know exactly what our workout should look like.

I trained with the Army Airborne at Ft. Benning in 1974 and found Jen's circuits to be way up to par, equivalent to what when on during basic training and jump school.

More importantly, however, is the knowledge Jen brings to the class. Due to degenerative disc disease and an untreated compression fracture of my T4-T5, I steer clear of the impact accompanying burpees and mountain climbers. Jen teaches work-arounds, so that when the rest of the class is jumping and kicking, I can be elevating and rowing.

This training is important to me: I've completed five polar expeditions (three in the Artic Ocean and two in Antartica). Each of these involves boarding Zodiac pontoons, where there will be ten passengers and a crew member operating the outboard engine. If we were to be swamped (which does, in fact happen, and happened three years ago in the Antarctic), each of us would need to have sufficient upper body strength, resilience, and balance, to get ourselves out of the frigid water and back on board. I go to Jen's class because it offers that kind of training.

Great location, great facilities, and an outstanding instructor.

My only comment would be to OneLife's management: recently, the local management allowed the placement of a class that runs from 11 to 11:55, when Jen's class starts at noon, on Tuesdays. Please give some thought to scaling back the Tai Chi class - please end that class by 11:45 a.m., to allow Jen's attendees to warm up without having to deal with the Tai Chi class.

Out of Ordered ceiling fans

The studio where the classes are held is very hot. Today, the ceiling fans were out of order. It was very challenging for us to participate in class. This has happened several times before.

You’ll Pay to Leave – Not Just to Join

Onelife Fitness operates like a billing machine, not a gym. After months of barely using the location (1–2 visits/month), I decided to cancel. Instead of honoring my decision, I was told I must either pay a fee or provide documentation to justify why I no longer want their service. That is outrageous.

No one should have to fight to exit a service they no longer need. Equipment is outdated, conditions are worsening, and service is cold and robotic. I’ve filed complaints with the FTC and Attorney General.

This is a predatory membership model. Do not sign up.
