I rented through Oceans Agency and unfortunately had a series of experiences that left me and my flatmate feeling unsafe, unheard, and now still out of pocket months after moving out.
Unauthorised occupant ignored for months: Another tenant's boyfriend was effectively living at the property, well beyond the 3-week-per-6-months visitor limit in our contract. We complained for months. Eventually we were asked to log every date he stayed — we did, and it added up to 84 days. Only after handing over all of this were we told it "wasn't enough evidence" and that we should have taken photos of his shoes. This should have been communicated when we first raised the issue, not after months of documentation.
Privacy and safety concerns dismissed: Instead of acting on our evidence, the agency contacted the other tenant directly and accepted her word that her partner wasn't around, disregarding what we'd reported. We also raised concerns about intimidation and a missing set of house keys during this period. Nothing was done.
Payment issue mishandled: When one tenant underpaid rent by £50, the agency chased myself and another tenant (and our guarantors) for it, rather than contacting the tenant who actually hadn't paid.
Move-out day confusion: We were told to be out on the 17th but given no specific time. On the day, someone arrived expecting us out in the morning. We had to argue that, without a stated time, we were entitled to stay until end of day. It was only after a manager reviewed the situation and realised no time had been given that we received an apology.
Deposit delayed with no transparency: We moved out on 17 July. It is now 9 September — over seven weeks later — and we still have no confirmation on our deposit. Every time we've asked for evidence of what's outstanding, we get the same recycled responses: "waiting for the landlord," "waiting for the claim," "waiting for the contractors" — with no actual proof of contact, claims received, or timelines. For comparison, a previous agency (Balloons) provided full details and receipts within two weeks of us moving out.
Communication throughout was poor. Dealing with Abigail Daly in particular was consistently frustrating — slow responses, no urgency, and little acknowledgment of how serious some of these issues were, including the unauthorised occupant situation, which affected our sense of safety in our own home.
I'll update this review once (if) the deposit is finally returned.

If i could write more in depth i would. However, ive looked at past reposnes and seen little to no accountability with the agency.

I have also remined anonymous for this as i am still waiting for a repsonse about my deposit.

Ocean have been excellent considering the dire state of renting in our area at the moment! After months of looking online and trying to get viewings on flats, Ocean were the first company to even give us a call back about getting a viewing. My partner and I were shown around the property and communicated with throughout by Charlie, who has been very helpful and patient when we have called and emailed about tiny details and questions we've had. Highly recommend :)

Ocean were fantastic, we chose them to sell our house. The good thing about Ocean is their great knowledge of our local area and the helpful and honest service. They did a great job of advertising the house and making sure the right clients saw it, and were on hand for good advice when we were buying our next property too. We chose them because we had used them 8yrs ago to buy our first property and they didn’t disappoint!

I really liked the quick booking of viewings and how ocean inform you as the sale progresses. Really effective and great communication. I liked seeing all of the jobs check off and Emily was fab.

However, I do have to share that when I viewed the property for the second time I could small damp/mould and I was told that it was the gloss paint. I then moved into the property and there was mould in the kitchen (hidden behind an appliance that was removed) and the whole house stunk of it. I also was assured a drawer in the kitchen would be looked at as it did not open. I am now looking at a replacement kitchen which I was not anticipating. Having some support and curiosity around this would have been helpful and may have enabled me to get more of a reduction on the price to pay for faults in the bathroom and kitchen. I was just reassured the house is worth the asking price when in reality I had to disagree but went with it as I needed a house to move into for my new job.

I did like the touch of having a small gift when collecting the keys. The member of staff was really kind. Despite my experiences I would recommend Ocean. I would just push a bit more than I did to ensure you’re getting what you need as a buyer particularly within this climate.

We liked the honesty of the realtor in this depressed market and knew that Ocean had a good reputation and we could do everything in house, including our solicitors. The house was sold on the first viewing with other viewers interested too. We used in house Solicitors too, which was a really good decision on our part. From offer to completion was exactly 3 months. The staff were very professional but also easy to talk to and we were updated by email through all the process and phone calls too. We would have no hesitation in recommending. We can't thank them enough.

Very positive experience with the team at Ocean, Bradley Stoke. They managed our house sale, and new purchase and we were kept in the loop every step of the way. Special mention to Emily, Stefano and Joe as their efficiency made the whole process very smooth for us, which was greatly appreciated.

I am a parent of student using Ocean Homes to rent accommodation. They are quick to take your rent and deposit at the beginning, however the same cannot be said of returning the deposit at the end of the rental period. It is as it they are taking advantage of students. This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable.

Ocean Estate Agents in Clifton were absolutely outstanding during what proved to be a very protracted sales process. Without the determination of Andrew and his team, I do not think the sale would have progressed. I can highly recommend them.
