My van went in for a CVRT, it failed on an engine light (new Nox sensor required)...fair enough...but it also failed on my 3D plates (which meet all the RSA requirements: The number plates must be black on a white reflective background, with the county of registration displayed in Irish. The EU flag and "IRL" letters are placed on the left side. Number plates must be clearly visible and legible, with specific height and width specifications for the characters) and I know this as it passed the previous two visit prior to this visit. I ensured the plates were within regs before I purchased them, so having someone there just fail them (and not inform you on what aspect of them it failed on) is a cop out! If they're failing them on the Depth...there is no regulation on that currently. A bit of consistency would be nice though.

We all know how difficult it is to find a good used car...in my case I had been searching for weeks. One day I spotted (17 pics) a beautiful 2012 Peugeot 308 1.6 Diesel Estate at this dealer...long NCT...only 1 owner...specious boot...154.000 miles on the clock...spare tyre...only € 200,- a year for tax...asking price € 2950,- (the perfect car for me). So, I made arrangements for a viewing...car was on hold for me...buying the famous Cartell report (everything was OK) and went by bus to Dublin. When I arrived at this dealer in Finglas the car was standing in front of the office entrance with the engine running and the hood was hot ! I placed myself in the cabin and saw the message on the display that the DPF filter was clogged ! I asked for the manager who assured me that I had nothing to worry about. They had put some substance in the tank...driven with it...but the message remained...it was only a matter of time he said to make the message disappear. Well, everyone will understand that I did not buy this car, the manager tried to appease me with a month's warranty. He thought it was strange that I didn't bite. I asked for his name and got it right away...even the last name. I then asked for the name of the owner of North Road Motor Company...but was not given...I would only get that if I purchased the car. I explained to this manager that this information can be purchased online for only €3,-... I now have the name of the owner of North Road Motor Company and even his private address. I managed to remain polite and not raise my voice. When I left I said that they would hear from me again...so those words were certainly not empty words. The next day I emailed the manager with my displeasure and a request for a refund (€ 77,-) of the expenses incurred for the Cartell report and travel expenses...no reply. I also explained to the manager in detail that my previous car had exactly the same problem...I had the engine repaired for €500,- and after 8 months I had problems again. I felt very misled as the car was advertised (and still is) as "Driving extremely well"! This car is still unsold at the dealer and is regularly reposted.
