I feel they practice false advertising
I was impressed when I read the main promotion for No Gap Dentists Sydney: $99 to remove a tooth. An excellent price, and well below what others charge.
Walking into the surgery, I was a little surprised that the price could be so low. It is beautiful and modern, and very well staffed. With only one other patient in the practice, I did wonder how the $200 I expected to pay would cover five or so staff.
The website states "$99 Simple Extractions (Item 311)". There was nothing on that page to say the price could rise.
So I booked in for two broken teeth to be extracted, expecting to pay $198. I had no pain and no noticeable inflammation.
After the examination I was very surprised to be given a revised quote of $850, four and a half times what I had understood from the website. It was made up of two charges of $325 for Item 322, "surgical removal of a tooth or tooth fragment not requiring removal of bone or tooth division", plus $200 for "removal of a tumour, cyst or scar, cutaneous, subcutaneous or in mucous membrane."
I am not disputing that the teeth needed surgical removal. They took xrays and the good news is that there was no charge for xrays unless I wanted a copy to take away.
What concerns me is the advertising. I feel promoting $99 without any real indication on the website page that the price can change signficantly is misleading.
On the positive side, the surgery is state of the art and the staff were excellent. The location near Wynyard Station is handy. I had also expected to pay a consultation fee and was not charged one.
