absolutely disgusting firm, constantly emailing me to ask me to sign up even though I told them I hadn't secured the property and was told that I would be refunded every penny if I didn't secure property so I paid the £395, i didn't secure the property so asked for my money back after 3 weeks I finally got a call asking to confirm my bank details and told they were going to charge me £95 even though I was told I wouldn't be charged anything, waited an extra week and after ignored emails and phone calls not returned I am still waiting for my refund, I would avoid this company, worst company I've ever dealt with.

Danielle Lomax was the main person we were dealing with at New Homes Law and she was brilliant. The whole team of shared ownership was really great at helping with any advise needed and was on top with getting things done. They were all so polite and really helpful. Would definitely recommend.

It's very clear that they do not care for customers, I'd even go so far as to say you can tell they do not care for their staff either.

Conveyancing matters taking up to and over a year to complete, my mortgage offer lapsed they took so long to get the work done.

Please steer clear of this company if you want to buy or sell. They are no longer a recommended solicitors for Bellway who we brought from. We had to chase for updates along the whole process and didn’t meet deadlines for exchange we was ment to exchange in December and only just happened in February I feel my case wasn’t worked in either when the head solicitor was off either and to be told by our estate agent that we’ve completed before our solicitor is crazy

I am extremely disappointed with the handling of our matter by New Homes Law Solicitors.
We are dealing with this case since 2023.
At this moment, since 14 November, we have received no concrete or meaningful update regarding the actual status of our case.
Instead of transparency and accountability, we have been met with vague responses and continued delay.
This is not a minor inconvenience. The unresolved issue is preventing the finalisation of a divorce/equity transfer, prolonging uncertainty and distress during an already difficult period. The ongoing lack of clarity has had a significant impact on wellbeing and mental health.
Professional legal services require communication, structure, and accountability. Clients should not have to chase repeatedly for basic information about their own case. Being told that something is “with a senior member of the team” without further explanation is not an update — it is avoidance.
We appreciate that legal matters can be complex, but clear and proactive communication is essential. Clients should not be left unsure about the status of their case for extended periods, but we are now left questioning both the management of the file and the internal oversight of escalated matters.

The team were responsive, organised and clear in their communication throughout what can be quite a complex process.

They kept me updated at each key stage — contract review, searches, and exchange — and were always available to clarify points when needed. The process felt structured and professionally managed from start to finish.

I would like to thank Danielle for all her hard work on our file. Communication was great and our experience with her was fab.

We instructed new homes law for conveyancing last year for our first time buy flat purchase. We would not recommend them or suggest that anyone uses them for their home purchase. I was hopeful as they seemed attentive at first but as the buying process continued they were extremely hard if not impossible to get a hold of/ They consistently made mistakes and told us the wrong information regarding how close we were to being able to complete, we were charged extra fees that we were not informed of, we were given the bill at the very last minute and not paying would have put us in a very tricky situation. We tried to understand where the costs had come from after we had paid but our conveyancer and customer care were once again radio silent. It is stressful and costly enough going through the process of buying your first home and even worse when your conveyancers are unhelpful and leave you with surprising fees. 100% avoid.

EDIT: NHL left a response to this review and to clarify the email received on 24/11/2025 was a list of generic reasons why additional charges might have been required rather than response to specific charges I had asked about, which were not covered in the generic reasons given. It is correct that we completed in October so it took over a month of chasing to get a generic response which didn't answer my queries.

I want to start by saying I never leave negative reviews but I don’t want anyone else to find themselves in the position my husband and I are in. We bought a new home in 2019 and New Homes Law represented us. At this time we had no issues with them. We are now in the process of selling this house and are using different representation. Our buyers solicitors are requesting many documents from us and have said we should have received this via the post shortly after completion. These documents include the planning permission for the house, building regulations as well as several other important documents. We do not have these paper copies and so went through emails from 2019 and NH Law had emailed us to say they no longer post these documents, they add them to the portal. We signed into the portal and the documents aren’t there. The portal shows that our case is 64% complete (due to the missing documents) and that the case was randomly closed 4 years ago (we were not notified of this). We have contacted them and the people we have spoken to have been helpful but the documents we are after are not able to be found. We are now in a position where unless NH Law find this documentation, we can potentially never sell our house. NH Law have told us to go back to our developers. We had already done this and they are saying that they don’t keep documents for this length of time but everything should have been sent to NH Law and ultimately if it wasn’t then NH Law should have represented us properly and requested the documents. We paid a lot of money for a service that we now see is negligent and potentially corrupt (with them closing an unfinished case). We were first time buyers and had no idea what documentation we needed. We were taken advantage of by NH Law - they took our money but did not do the work we paid them to do.
