Veronica was always very helpful and responded as quickly as possible to my queries. She found a mortgage for me and renegotiated the interest rate when the bank increased it at the last minute.

Sent a request for information filling in some basic information on Jan 28th, the first reply I got from them was on Feb 25th.

As for the other reviews, yes, unfortunately bad service like yours is not uncommon. All my reviews are verified.

It started relatively well. Within two weeks (after excessive emailing and sending documents—sometimes twice), I received the pre-approval. After that, as Thomas said on our first call, “his real work would begin”: getting an overview of 5–6 banks and negotiating the initial deal. In retrospect, the initial offer was actually good, so it’s unclear why he didn’t just close it.

It’s unclear what exactly happened, but it seems that nothing further was done after the pre-approval. I never received the overview of 5–6 banks. Questions often went unanswered, phone calls were not returned, and there was no clarity on how the process was progressing. Phone appointments were missed multiple times.

Eventually, I was contacted directly by the bank and informed that they had worsened the conditions. From Thomas, I received only generic answers, and later he stopped replying altogether.

Simon was an absolute star as my mortgage advisor. He was incredibly helpful from start to finish, guiding me through every step with patience and expertise. Despite my own delays causing the process to lapse for over a year, he stayed supportive, replied lightning-fast to every question, and made everything feel straightforward and stress-free. Couldn’t recommend him highly enough, genuinely one of the best!

Second mortgage process with Amanda, having sold the previous property. Would highly recommend, we had mortgage offers from four different banks and could choose the best one with confidence. Amanda also helped us with arranging a valuation and survey, and was always available for questions. Fantastic.

Helaas in zee gegaan met dit bedrijf en dan specifiek met Maaike van Ruitenbeek. Ik viel haar lastig tijdens het proces volgens haar als ik als leek vragen stelde en door meerdere fouten van haar kant moest de hypotheek tot 2 maal opnieuw aangevraagd worden, waardoor de koop gecancelled zou kunnen worden. Door het verkeerd doorgeven van gegegevens aan de bank moest alles 2 keer opnieuw. Dit heeft niks te maken met hoe de bank werkt maar alles met hoe zij zelf werkt. De bank heeft de juiste gegevens nodig voor een aanvraag!! (dit als verduidelijking op onderstaande reactie. Dus nee ik hoef geen verder contact, dank u vriendelijk.) Ze gaf ook nog daarvan mij de schuld. Een erkenning of sorry heb ik nooit gehoord hiervoor. Alleen die keer dat ze was uitgevallen tegen mij. Daar heeft ze haar excuus voor aangeboden, hoewel het erna niet veel beter werd helaas. Liefst geen vragen stellen en gewoon betalen. Zeer slechte begeleiding. Zeer slechte ervaring!!!

This was the first time we had bought a property abroad and our situation was fairly complicated, so having someone on our side to navigate the mortgage process took a lot of the stress out of it. Will, with support from Emma and Thais, worked very hard to find a provider willing to offer us a mortgage. He explained everything clearly from the start and guided us through the banks’ requirements and all the documentation involved.

The team were always available to answer questions and were supportive throughout. While we weren’t able to secure as large a mortgage as we had initially hoped, we were able to obtain one that allowed us to purchase our property — which we couldn’t have achieved without their help.

We’re very grateful to Will, Emma, Thais and the wider Mortgage Direct team for their support, and we’d happily recommend them to anyone planning their move to Spain.

It worked very well to obtain a mortgage with SANTANDER bank without the help of anybody.

I lost more than 12 months trying with Mortgage Direct .

Just amazing, just amazing. Could not have asked for a better outcome.

Prospective mortgage seekers, exercise extreme caution before engaging with Mortgage Direct SL. My unfortunate experience serves as a stark warning for anyone thinking of exploring the mortgage process with this company, but choose not to proceed.

Upon Jacqueline Moulen's recommendation (who has since left Mortgage Direct), things started off well. To get more details on the process, I signed their terms and conditions and paid a retainer fee, a reasonable step. However, once I decided not to move forward with buying a property in Spain or Portugal, things took an unexpected turn.

Shockingly, despite not delivering any of the services promised in their terms and conditions – like document processing, translations, bank account opening, property valuation, or recommending legal and real estate services – Mortgage Direct SL refused to refund my retainer fee of EUR750 plus 21% VAT, or even part thereof. Just to be clear, none of these promised services were provided. I ended up with just one email listing the required documents and a brief overview of the mortgage process. Hardly worth the EUR1000 fee!

Crucially, Mortgage Direct SL retains the entire payment, around EUR1000, even when none of the promised retainer services are delivered. This willingness to keep money for services not provided reflects a serious lack of integrity and professionalism.

While Jacqueline Moulen showed professionalism and helpfulness initially, dealing with Vera Simão (who took over from Jacqueline) and the Business Operations Manager, Lorenzo Saccardi, was far from satisfactory. Their focus on financial gain over client satisfaction left me extremely disappointed.

In summary, if you are not completely certain whether to pursue the mortgage process after initial exploration, think twice about Mortgage Direct SL. Their refusal to refund a substantial retainer fee for undelivered services is a glaring sign of unscrupulous business practices. Look for more reliable alternatives in the mortgage brokerage industry to protect your financial interests.
