Booked the call out Monday and was told the Friday was the earliest date available.

I then booked this and paid call out fee. I drove over 2 hours to the property as they said they wouldn’t be able to attend without the homeowner present.

On the day of call out I called at 8:30am to check the time, to be told it would be afternoon. Lo and behold I was called at 1pm to say nobody would be making it out - how on earth do you book a call out 5 days in advance to be let down so poorly.

Wish there was a minus star. They have just ripped off my parents (they are in their 90's) they were called out to fix issue with pressure in boiler, so say fixed issue and charged around £200. By bed time pressure had dropped again, so my dad called them back out this time they were charged over £200. The issue should have been fixed first time or not change them for revisit. Avoid this company at all costs. After reading other comments it would appear they like to rip of the elderly. I will be contacting trading standards

Appalling. Avoid like the plague. An 86 year old lady was charged £560 to replace the syphon in the toilet which should be £30 parts (charged as £100 parts plus £420 labour minus a fake ‘discount’) it took him 30 mins plus picking up the parts. Then charged £460 to replace a wall thermostat which didn’t need replacing (£80 worth of parts were charged at £200 parts plus £315 labour minus fake ‘discount’). Lady was in tears over aggressiveness of engineer. The engineer was supposed to be replacing the mixer on shower. The Daughter of lady challenged the company, and spoke to engineer who was apologetic, but he has now not shown up to complete the work and the company and the engineer are now ghosting the daughter. Just awful.

Called for a quote - water running into toilet bowl, so just needed new inlet vale (£15 on Amazon) replacing - 10 or 15 minute job for a plumber. Was told they don't give telephone quotes (fair enough) and call out £40ish. Came out in a couple of hours and said it would be £250!!! Materials were £34.99. He said they charge a full hour minimum for every job - £210!!! That's a brain surgeons rate! Absolute madness and I should have been told this BEFORE agreeing to have their plumber call - absolute disgrace. One for Trading Standards I think. Shameful!!

I had a blocked external drain and rang this company (they claim to be a local family firm?!) and asked about price. £42 for a call out, plus £210 to clear the drain, plus another £210 to put the camera down to see what caused the blockage. I told the woman this was extortionate and called another company who gave a flat fee of £195 (all inclusive) who resolved the blockage, checked the drain with the camera and jet washed to remove debris. There is a marked difference between £462 and £195…….not sure where this company get their pricing structure from but they are clearly overcharging.

The advertising is clever. I wanted a local plumber to repair a leaking washing machine outlet U-bend. It was Friday, about midday. Looking again online, this company seems to be 'local' across many areas. Possibly a franchise?

The lady who answered the 'Swindon' number was very good and, for a £42 callout fee, they would send a plumber by 17:30. The plumber would call first.

We got no phonecall. We got no plumber. We were left in the dark because their phone is only answered weekdays between 8am and 5:30pm. Over the weekend they were not contactable. No other contact details are provided.

I called again on Monday morning, after a different plumber fixed the leak for £22, and spoke to (what sounded like) the same lady. She apologised and immediately offered a refund of the callout fee. I didn't ask why the tradesperson never arrived.

I certainly wouldn't use this company again but they may be excellent workers when they actually turn up.

Turned up had to wait in all day said it was something which was wrong left boiler working but failed again 10 mins later . Booked to come next day afternoon only after I contacted them did they say he wasn’t coming , then rebooked for the next day and the n cancelled . So three days hanging around for an engineer that didn’t come and couldn’t be bothered

Went to my customers house and charged over £400 for a gas hob installation when the customer supplied the hob and left a gas leak at the property. Then wanted to charge the guy £4000 for a new boiler saying the boiler was at fault for the leak.

Would not recommend this company. Charged my 84 year old aunt £6175 to install a new boiler in a flat and this is meant to be OAP rates. Feel like this company have totally taken advantage of an elderly vulnerable person. Morally wrong and totally unhappy!

I also paid £40 plus for a call out fee. But was told at 4pm that a wheel had fallen off the engineers van!
A engineer came the next day.
After looking at the problem l was told he would have to get parts 10 miles away and l would be charged £240 for this.
When he returned the job was done But the price was extortionate. Never again!

Terrible service. Was charged £42 for a call out which I expected and agreed to however when the plumber came out he told me I needed a whole new cistern for £611. When I asked he could just change the part was advised that they do not make them anymore. Called another plumber and yes he got another part fitted it and for 1/4 of the price. DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF !!

I needed an emergency plumber and our regulars couldn't attend for a couple of days, so I tried this firm. They said they would attend next day so I was prepared to pay more than normal. However, they didn't attend that day after all. The plumber who eventually attended after 48 hours was very friendly but costs were high. I found the phonecall on site to give a price, and the reaction when I declined to go ahead, discomforting.

This service provider demands an eye-watering £210 per hour along with a £42 call-out charge, which feels incredibly overpriced considering typical UK plumber rates range from £40 to £60 per hour. When I first contacted them for an urgent issue, I was assured same-day service, but they ended up arriving the following day, misrepresenting their schedule. On top of that, there was an excessive charge for parts, like a toilet pan connector priced at £34.95, easily available at Screwfix for just £9.99. I strongly advise steering clear of this company!

This company charges a massive £210 per hour + a £42 call out fee. This is totally extortionate given that the average hourly rate for a plumber in the UK is between £40 and £60!
When I initially phoned them, as it was urgent work they said they would be with me that day. They did not actually turn up until the next day. So they basically lied to me about their availability.
To cap it all off they overcharged me for parts. £34.95 for a toilet pan connector which you can get from screwfix for £9.99

I contacted your company at 8:33am on Thursday morning to request assistance with a broken toilet. We believed the entire system needed replacing, which was too big a job for us to handle ourselves. I explained that we had guests arriving for my son’s 18th birthday this weekend and asked specifically whether the job could be completed in time. I was assured that you could meet this timeline and that an engineer would call 30 minutes before arrival.

At 9:00am, I received a call asking to confirm my number and address because incorrect details had been passed to scheduling. I confirmed everything and was told it was sorted.

At 15:21, I was informed that the engineer would not be attending that day but would come the following morning. This was frustrating, but I accepted the new plan.

At 10:56 the next day, I received a call saying “your husband rang us,” and that the engineer would arrive after 12pm. I am not married, and my partner has been home with me all day. Again, it turned out you had the wrong details attached to the wrong customer. I was told you couldn’t confirm anything about my appointment.

A few minutes later, I received another call to apologise and was told that an engineer would arrive after 1pm.

Then at 15:10, I received yet another call saying no engineer would be coming today.

At this point, I was understandably frustrated. I was assured that you could help within my timeframe, but instead, I received conflicting information, multiple administrative errors, and ultimately no support. I am now left with no time to resolve this urgent issue before guests arrive.

We called this lot to help with a couple of small tap repairs. When the plumber announced it was £200 an hour, I nearly asked if that came with a gold-plated washer. We decided to stick to the absolute basics before the bill needed financing.

They advertise as local plumbers, but apparently “local” now means based in Bristol, with their registered office in Cardiff (Sophia House, 28 Cathedral Road, CF11 9LJ). That’s quite a commute for a dripping tap.

There’s also a 5% “pensioner discount,” which feels more like bait to draw older customers into what turns out to be a very expensive trap. They don’t take cash or cheques either — only card payments by phone, perhaps to make sure your money’s gone before you recover from the shock.

All in all, a stressful and overpriced experience for what should have been a simple job. Next time I’ll call someone genuinely local — and preferably under £200 an hour.

Excellent service, phoned yesterday late afternoon and came mid morning today.
Liam fixed the problems swiftly, turns out there were 2 separate drain blockages.
Very respectfully and polite tradesman.
Price as expected for his expert work.

Came to unblock my 80 year old mums toilet. Took him one plunge with plunger and was there 15 minutes. Charged her £240!! Disgusting!!

We arranged for an engineer to visit us on 19 September to give our central heating/hot water boiler its annual service. We waited in all day but nobody turned up, despite promises on the phone that somebody would. Visit then re-arranged for 22, and again no one turned up. Visit rearranged for 26 with the same result. Today for the fourth time we were promised a visit but it was again cancelled. In the past M J Harris has proved reliable, but this year has been a disaster, wasting a huge amount of time and many useless phone calls. I will not use them again.
