Midwest Grow Kits 

Bought this kit back in March, UPS damaged the box and the bin was cracked, but got a replacement a few days later. Thank you Emily! But this kit has literally everything you need, had some pretty amazing and enlightening results! I decided to try a bulk grow with spawn bags and the nice part is you can easily convert the Mega kit into a pretty large bulk grow. I ordered 4 spawn bags and 4 bags of casing mix for my bulk grow project. A good tip to incubate spawn bags in the Mega container is to make sure you elevate the spawn bags off the bottom so they dont get too hot on the bottom of the bag since the plastic is so thin compared to glass jars. I just used a few 1' thick books to line the bottom, and just placed the bags on top. My spawn bags took about 5 weeks to fully colonize and I basically just followed the bulk guide, the spawn bags crumbled up pretty easily, just used my hands and mixed in the casing one bag at a time. I had little casing left over but the ratios seemed pretty dead on. I let it sit in the dark and its been about 5 days and im already seeing tons of white mycellium poking through! I will post back when I get a total yield for this grow! All in all this kit is well worth it if you plan on doing more growing down the road! Humidifier system is awesome and actually think it will be even better with a bulk grow!

Slow responding on Instagram and after 6 days I was told to send them an email. I purchased 6 blocks so far and most went well. Ignored and passed off when I had a complaint about one I received and I wasn't even asking for a refund. Just wanted to know if I could salvage anything. There are better company's out there.

The reviews are actually real! I was a little skeptical after reading all the positive reviews that they were fake but this kit is really easy to put together, no tools required. Sturdy and a well thought out system. My jars and spawn bags are not ready for fruiting but I thought I would try and set it up to test and it really does achieve 95% humidity within 30 minutes. The temperature fluctuation between shelves is only about 1-2 degrees from top to bottom, heating unit gets very hot, I can see how this may work in really cold spaces. My only complaint would be to package the aluminum trays better. Mine were a little bent out of shape when I got them and not sure if that was UPS's fault or not. Overall 4.9 stars out of 5!

Very easy to assemble and the entire system is very well designed! This tent setup makes it super easy to grow jars, spawn bags and casing trays at once. I really like how I dont have to be on a specific timeframe and can start a new grow at any point. The only advice I would give is the glass reservoir for the fogger system runs out of water and needs to be refilled every 3-4 days. I found that instead of removing the lid, I just disconnected one hose and poured in more water through the hose. I also bought a bigger 1/2 gallon glass Jar to hold more water and now I only have to refill once a week. Thought I'd share that advice! overall 5**** setup!

Very sterile. My 4th order this year. Jars grow much better than any recipe I have tried at home. 5/5 stars! TIP: SPEND THE $2.00 MORE AND UPGRADE TO UPS GROUND SHIPPING. WELL WORTH IT! GOT MY ORDER IN 3 DAYS!

Had been spending money trying to get the right home made substrate mixture but would end up with no mycellium growth or jars of molds. The Ultimate Substrate jars from Midwest were awesome and everything as advertised. All 12 jars produced some serious colonization. It was the ideal mixture and I will definitely be a returning customer.

I was a first timer last year when I ordered the Ultimate Grow Kit. Now, since it was every bit as easy as they said it'd be with the instructions (even though I was so worried about contamination), I'm already confident enough to move up to bulk with everything the customer service reps have taught me in addition to the guide every time I had a question and felt uneasy about the status of my grow (turned out all my little worries were always normal). 'Excellent' is a very fitting adjective for these substrate jars. You really cannot go wrong if you are willing to read everything thoroughly and have the patience needed. It's def. a process.

Been ordering these jars whenever I feel the need to grow a batch for what seems like 3-4 years now and I am always impressed with how quickly they arrive and the consistent quality over the years! You cant beat the price anywhere really. Ive tried ordering jars with the injection ports but its just not worth the extra money those cost. I always get around 9-11 dry grams per jar. Ive made my own jars last year and its just not worth the time/mess and hassle of gathering all the supplies needed. Thought I owe you guys a review, since this was my 10th order or something like that. Thanks so much! and thanks Jay for the growing advice and putting up with my calls and stupid questions!

They advertise fully colonized gourmet kits. What i received was freshly spawned barely colonized bags that will take weeks to be ready to fruit

Right off the bat my heating unit was damaged and the heater element didn’t get but barely warm. At first their customer service sent out a replacement element but didn’t replace the fire hazard crack porcelain fixture. The replacement heating element died 15 days later and the fan they included also died. I reached out again to customer service and received no reply back. A week later I reached out again no upset on being ignored, still no reply back. I ordered a new fan, heating element & porcelain fixture to repair their pos ecosphere 3.0.

I’ll never buy from Midwest Grow Kits ever again. Amazon has better quality parts to remake their System where it’s actually functional.

Although they might have okay products (mostly), their "customer service" is absolutely terrible.
This is not the first time this has happened with me.

I wrote to them and asked questions about a few things that were listed on their site, hoping to make a purchase. Several days later they replied and only answered part of one of the things I asked about. I wrote again, replying that same day, asking them to answer all else that was asked, because they failed to. They never replied.
Seven days later I wrote to them again, reminding them to answer (which should not have to be done by a customer).
Another seven days go by still with no response, at all. It should not take "customer service" almost three weeks to reply to a few simple questions.
I will possibly attempt one more time to 'remind them' before going elsewhere for what I need. And I might try and contact the owner of the company directly.

Its almost as if they feel that when customers ask questions and then hold them accountable when they don't respond that the customers are the ones who are pestering and bothering them so they make the conscious decision to not reply or answer.
This has been happening a lot in the last decade or so with too many companies, both online and in person.

The person here who said that they only post positive reviews is correct. Their practices are dishonorable.
The owner of the company needs to either retrain the entire staff or fire everyone and hire actual adults. They shouldn't let children run things.

If they see this review and I suddenly receive an email of some sort, then I'll know that they are truly dishonest in their approach to business.
Go elsewhere to get what you need, because if you have a problem they will not care at all to address anything...unless, maybe, you're spending thousands of dollars. Most of us aren't.

As of the time of this writing, they have posted 10 times to Facebook since my initial email to them, but can't manage to reply to a customer.

I posted a couple comments to their Facebook account, saying that they should reply to existing customers first before asking people to buy things from them, and asking why they post saying that they "love their customers" when that simply isn't true. In fact, the complete opposite.
Alas, they deleted my comments and then blocked me from the page.
And they still have yet reply to any messages sent to them.

I'll say it again...this is a terrible company that does not care about people at all.
DO NOT buy anything from them. There are other sources that are better for what you need.

Ordered 4 sets of 5 sterilized agar plates. When they arrived, 2 were very obviously contaminated, one with 2 different molds. Within a day a third began growing mild. When I contacted customer service by email, as their phone hours are limited, after s few days I received an offer for store credit. I advised I was not using the site again and wanted a refund. Surprise, surprise, they have stopped responding to my emails, it’s been almost 2 weeks now. Complete garbage and waste of money.

I ordered and it came within a few days, and I couldn't more more pleased. I got a Ultimate Mushroom Growing & Incubator kit and so far I have zero complaints. I just wish I had gotten one sooner! Keep up the great work!
