We came here for some food on the way home on Easter Monday. We had to wait for a good ten minutes before the waitress even saw that there were people waiting. The lady in front of us said ‘hello?’ and in response she gave a sarcastic comment back. Once we had finally been seated we were handed the breakfast menu (at 16:00) so we asked for the lunch/evening menu. When our drinks arrived I received half a glass of water so we went to the bar and asked for a full one. The manager replied ‘well you haven’t even finished that one yet missy’ and reluctantly filled up the glass. The food was average and the service was appalling. The two waitresses were very slow and it seemed that they had no idea on what they were doing. During our meal there were families who had clearly been on long journeys asking to use their toilets to which they responded ‘no you can’t use them they’re blocked from people from the petrol station’. On top of this awful dinning experience there was a 10% service charge added to the bill. Would not recommend this diner to anyone.

The diner looks good, and has atmosphere, and the food ingredients are good, sadly it ends there. We went there on the morning of13/3/22. The breakfast looked good when it arrived, but was pretty much cold. And when my wife used the toilet there was no tissue. It could be a very nice venue, but standards have slipped. This is the second time we have stopped there on the way to see our son in Taunton, the food was cold last time but we gave it a second chance, there will not be a third.

The food was great (a little greasy but the flavours were lovely) and the milkshake was very nice.
The massive downside was the staff... We went tonight (Thursday) at 7pm and there was only one table already there that were ordering when we arrived. We were seated quickly but then waited 15 mins just to give our drinks order!

The food arrived quickly and can't fault the kitchen staff, the presentation and food were great but then waited nearly 20mins for our plates to be collected and nobody checked on us or offered more drinks or even dessert menu.

The staff were just talking amongst themselves or playing on their phones. In the end we got up to pay as nobody was coming over to us.

It wasn't busy as only 2 other tables arrived while we were there and the biggest was a table of 4!

Shame as it seemed a nice place but very disappointed with the service

Called in here on our way back home to Devon for a family meal. The food was lovely and the interior of the restaurant looks great. However all of this was spoilt by the incredibly slow service and very unenthusiastic and miserable looking waitress. We were not customers that just wanted a quick drink and snack, our bill was over £100 and we felt like a inconvenience to our waitress from the moment we were seated. We were left for 40 minutes with our finished main meal plates on our table waiting for a dessert menu. She came over and took 1 plate away and said she would be back with the menus. Next thing we see her taking other tables orders, stood behind the bar having a drink and a chat with other staff members and clearing other tables. Tables around us being served by another waitress did not have this problem and received very fast service. Not once did our waitress even give us a simple smile. Every time we smiled at her to try and get her attention she just glared at us. When leaving and paying the bill my husband mentioned we were not impressed by the service we received, to which she replied sorry we are short staffed. The manager was stood next to her and made no attempt to interact and offer an apology. Some serious customer service and hospitality training is required here. We will never return.

DISGUSTING - you should be ashamed of the way you conduct your business. We arrived for lunch, my husband ordered a main meal, my daughter ordered a meal from the kids menu and due to personal health issues I only could stomach a portion of chips. We were told I couldn’t do this despite needing to eat something rather fast as I was not well. My husband asked could he add the chips to his main meal as a side they said no as I’d be sat there ‘breaking the policy’ as they were for me. The waitress started to suggest I add a panini or something onto the chips despite me explaining I was only able to eat the chips and that was all. We said fine we aren’t happy and got up and left. As we left the waitresses behind the counter area were very rude and clearly have no experience in dealing in the hospitality sector. The customer is always right you do not ever try to blame the customer despite what you may feel. The woman with dark glasses and blonde hair came over I presume she was in charge yet she didn’t introduce herself, very unprofessional in her approach to us - she looked to her staff for explanation and completely ignored us whilst we tried to make our complaint. She then turned to us and said yeah you can only come here if everyone orders a meal??? Are you serious - not even an explanation or an apology?! You are a disgrace. Your staff are wearing ridiculous uniforms that quite frankly are embarrassing for them, not to mention the uniforms being absolutely filthy!! Your business model is dated and needs a reboot! You’ve lost custom in us and our friends/ family and looking at your reviews we aren’t the first! Some feedback for you - in business sometimes a bit of kindness and consideration goes a long way… have a think about that one. I mean where’s the business sense in us potentially spending £30 with you today yet because you wouldn’t let me have a measly portion of chips you lost the custom completely???

So excited to come to this diner , and so was my step daughter. We had just eaten but made a special journey to this diner. We were going to all have drinks and desserts . We were told straight away no sorry main meals only . So all backed out like criminals .. we would easily of spent 30 pounds . Also we were going to come back with my large family group to all have a meal here. Have a rather sad 12 year old now ! Also there was plenty of staff and only two tables full. I am a business owner and I would never run my business like this ! Disappointed.

On arrival we were told we couldn't take our push chair in, after 5 minutes they let us in, we pre booked for a family member 20th birthday service was shocking, food was OK at end of meal bill was delivered before we asked as they wanted to close. Toilets were dirty babies changing facilities were dirty our experience was terrible and we never go back again, was not a welcoming establishment, think before stopping.

The RUDEST experience of my life.

We were waiting to been seen for a good while. Asked for a table for two and they said we‘ll come back to us to seat us shortly. We waited another 5 minutes or so with no response, so as a soon to be paying customers, I went to use the loo. This woman then yells at me to get out and that I cannot use the toilet. I explained that we are customers waiting to be seated. She didn’t care and told me to wait! The rudest.

The owner is rude, she refuses to let anyone in unless they are buying a main meal and you get questioned as soon as you arrive, you don’t even get chance to look at the menu.
Such a shame as used it many times but will definitely not be returning again.

Must admit, only stopped because we couldn't get into macdonalds as they were full. We pulled in just to get a sandwich and cup of tea! Well 2 massive burgers, a pile of scampi and a stack of delicious ribs later! An amazing diner. Excellent food ( spoilt for choice ) great decor, helpful friendly waitresses ( in full authentic American diner dress Inc make-up) good music and clean tables (and loos). So glad we stopped. A great experience!

Awful experience.
I arrived with my elderly mother to this small 50s style American Diner in the middle of the A30. We were on return from Cornwall to London. My mother and I needed to use the bathroom and thought like many places on UK A roads and motorways you buy a coffee or whatever you choose and you can access the much needed bathroom facilities. No not this place. We were immediately told by a stern looking woman behind the counter we are only doing brunch or lunch you can have coffee with lunch or brunch. I asked again if we could have coffee. Again you can have coffee if you buy brunch or lunch and have to be seated. We needed the bathroom so agreed and a waitress suitably dressed in a 50s diner outfit unhooked the roped off seated area and showed us to our seats. The atmosphere was solemn with a few seated customers While we were seated I asked to use the bathroom which was locked behind huge steel doors and to gain access the waitress needed to provide a code. When I finally got into the bathroom area I found the cubicles with the same heavy steel doors. As soon as I got out my mum said. She felt uncomfortable. So we immediately exited, got into our car only to discover 2 minutes down the road were McDonalds and other large coffee chains providing bathroom facilities and a kind warm friendly face. It is such a shame the diner experience was as it was. With competition of Services two minutes away a warmer hospitable approach would have encouraged us to stay and have brunch or lunch !

Stopped at the Sparkford Mattia Diner on the A303, 1230, 6 Dec 19. It was quite busy but I could see a few seating possibilities. After waiting 10 mins in the doorway a member of staff told me there was no chance of a table for a while. I pointed out some empty seats in the window with a couple of tables. I was told they couldn't seat us there. I got the impression they wouldn't seat a party of 2 in that space as it would seat 4! I then asked if we could sit on the stools in front of the bar only to be told "No sorry, not possible". So why do they have seats at the bar if you can't sit on them? We only wanted a coffee and cake break away from the car but it all seemed too difficult. We left to seek out an alternative.
