Jack has been amazing throughout my process of buying a Ford Ranger, he is outstanding in what he does and i will not hesitate in dealing with him again, one of a kind in dealing with people.

I find it is very unusual to get quality 'traditional' service and/or a great price in any automotive main dealer these days, but the Service Department at Lookers Ford (York Road, Leeds) are the exception.

We have several cars/vans in our household and my Transit is the only one that goes to a main dealer. Either I do the work or they go to specific specialists.

I have had my Transit Custom to Lookers for warranty work and general servicing since May 2023 (I bought it at an independent van dealer whilst still under Ford warranty) and have always had great communication and service from all of the service staff there.

The latest visit (1st September 2025) was for the notorious 'wet belt' (cam belt) to be replaced. The van (71 reg) is now out of warranty and I wanted peace of mind, so I've had it done at 70k miles, rather than wait until 100k. I had previously spoke with Jake Rawson about getting it done and he advised me that as I do decent runs (where the DPF system can regenerate) plus regular oil changes, he thought that my belts would be in good condition and less likely to fail - he certainly didn't push me in to having the job done. I have been around cars (classic, modern and specialist) a very long time and I am a mechanical engineer by trade, so I understand what damage can be done by failing cam belts and poor/irregular maintenance. I didn't want to be another victim of the Ford wet belt, so I was having it done regardless, whether it was at Ford, or with a gearbox specialist/mechanic good friend of mine (using genuine Ford parts).
Jake gave me two options - a) cam belt and cover plus oil change, or b) cam belt, cover, oil pump drive belt, sump (oil pan) and oil change. The difference in cost wasn't worth going the cheaper option and there's no point doing 'half a job' when you're there anyway. Having the sump off enables the oil pump drive belt to be replaced and allows technicians to look for any debris from the belts or anything else that could be on the way out.
The price I got for the whole job was superb, there was absolutely no point in having it done elsewhere - it was the sort of price that an independent garage would quote. I dropped the van off on Monday morning and got it back Tuesday afternoon, even though Jake had said to allow until Wednesday morning to get it back. It had had the job done as advised, at the price quoted and the van was washed.

Jake's theory about the belt being in good condition was also right, I was sent photos of it. My belt was in excellent condition, proving he and the technicians know what they're talking about.

If you have a any Ford with a wet belt and are looking to have it replaced, go to Lookers. Speak with the team there and say you saw this review!

Visited Leeds Lookers for engine warning light on our Ford Chausson motorhome and they were brilliant. Detection was Adblue injection fault. Was fixed and we were well looked after. Very professional service.
