Great service, specialist OSS surgery

After searching the closest vets (1hr 15min drive) to do an ovary sparing spay, we found Frederica at The Oldbury branch who could perform the surgery, she was confident and competent and really put us at ease. I have to say that our treatment was first class, we had full cost disclosure before the surgery and all the staff were brilliant, very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful; they followed up when they said would, kept us informed and never kept us waiting even when we were an hour early for our appointment. First class service.

Parking scam

I went to the vets in Halesowen and got charged £60 for parking there. I'm thinking of moving down from Scotland and was seriously thinking of joining but after this dirty trick I'll be looking elsewhere.

Cannot fault Local Vets

I have no words for how amazing this vet practise is. Honestly the most loveliest people work here and they are so knowledgable and skillful as well - you can tell that they are in this job for the animals. They don't rush you or your animal, they explain everything like you're a person and they want to fix this issue not just give mask the problem. Within 3 weeks my dog has had 2 biopsies and a toe removal due to a cancerous growth. They are speedy with everything and I'm shocked that everything is so fast. They are also one of the cheapest in the area as well - £200 for a biopsy when our last vet practise was asking for £1000+. Absolutely no faults with this place and everyone cares so much about the animals. After each surgery/biopsy, we have had a call the next day to make sure everything is okay. Whilst he was in their care after his surgery, they called is multiple times keeping us updated and letting us know he was okay. I wish we knew about this vets sooner!

After using the grooming service since…

After using the grooming service since it opened very dissapointed today to be told of a 35% price increase on the price of my dogs groom 🤔 this as been booked in advance since December his last groom 😡 hence i will no longer be using them and tbh i never felt the standard of grooming was that good.

Offered incentive for good review but incentive not granted so review is accurate

Travelling through the area and wanted a same day appointment for my yorkie. “Come in straight away” - Great

Immaculate waiting room, friendly and helpful staff - so far very impressed.

Dog went straight through and I noticed a sign on reception “leave us a review on your first visit and get £5 of your next visit - show the receptionist your review to get the discount applied”

I asked if the offer was on “I don’t think so but I’ll ask”

“Yes the offer is still on” so I booked my other dog in for a routine gland squeeze - again They can see him straight away - again, perfect.

So I text my partner to bring in my other dog who was were both waiting in the car.

I advised the receptionist that I would review my service for the yorkie when he came out (appropriate I feel as I can’t review the service until it’s complete) and requested the £5 discount for my second appointment for my second dog - I’ll have to ask the practice manager………”

“No discount as it’s the same visit”

I asked “if I book in for this afternoon would the discount apply?”

I’ll Ask the practice manager….”

“Yes discount would apply as it’s a 2nd visit”

“Great - could I book for this afternoon please”

“No appointments”

“Can you squeeze me in later this morning”

“”No appointments”

“So can I pay for my yorkie (who has now come out of treatment room and left the vets) now and keep this appointment for my other dog outside who you have availability to see right now - but - I would like the £5 discount as I feel that I qualify”

“I’ll ask the practice manager……”

I think the outcome can be guessed.

The receptionists (polite, professional & helpful) earned 5 stars, Sophie (the lady who treated my yorkie- again professional, helpful and friendly) earned 5 stars. The venue itself - great parking, immaculate - a bit expensive compared to other vets) earned 4.5 stars (with the discount sweetener this would be 5 stars)

The practice manager’s poor decisions from the back office has reduced this review to a 3 star review for:

1. Wasting the receptionists time with keep running to ask questions (They should have autonomy and discretion without having to
Keep asking the “important decision making entity hiding in the back”)

2. The pettiness surrounding the refusal of the discount

3. Wasting my time and putting me in a position of taking a stand (the other customer in the waiting room actually said to me “They are a great vets but I don’t see why they are being so petty over a fiver when they clearly had the capacity to see both dogs”

4. The lack of courtesy - making these decisions from the managerial throne and after 3 questions from the receptionist still didn’t feel the need to deal with this in person.

5. It was pretty clear that the receptionist saw my point of view from the off. What a poor lesson in customer service.

6. I felt like the discount was actually going to come out of the practice manager’s back pocket. A trait I hate in staff.

The result - the vet - who was expecting 2 dogs, one after the other, wasn’t informed that I had cancelled the second appointment, applied the discretionary discount without checking with the practice manager and gave us the £5 off the yorkie’s treatment.

So - 2 treatments at £15 each would have earned £25 for 2x5 minute jobs resulted in 20 mins of “I’ll just check with the practice manager…..” actually earned the practice only £10 (we have donated the £5 to our local dog charity - Forest dog rescue) and has turned away what could have been a loyal customer with 2 dogs under 5 years old.

Please help me turn customer service around - I’d love a culture of “how can I actually help” over “how can I stop the company I work for applying a £5 discount”

I went to the Halesowen LOCAL Vet paid…£110

I went to the Halesowen LOCAL Vet paid £55 for a scan as thought my little dog was pregnant. I was told she was not pregnant, If she was I was going to have them terminated. Three weeks later she put a little weight on so I took her back to the vets they give her another scan another £55 and said she was going to have pups with in a few days 4 days later she started to have her pups the first one bourn dead very under nourished just like a small sausage, the next one was bourn very week as we didn't feed her up to give her the food she needed to feed the the pups. I HAD A VERY BAD EXPERENCE WITH LOCAL VETS THINK HARD BEFOR YOU GO TO THEM

First class veterinary practice

I thought I would never find a vet like Tom Billingham after he retired........ I was wrong Rumen is definitely as good as Tom and the rest of the team at Local Vets are a delight. I registered my bulldog with them and had visited a couple of occasions and from the off set I have been more than inpressed. The vets has lots of parking, the building is new and looks immaculate inside and out. The waiting area was kept cool throughout the summer, essential for a bullie, the staff are so polite and friendly. Rumen listens to your concerns, he then offers detailed explanation of how the problem will be resolved. I decided to register my boxer as well, Rosco, he wasn't getting the best care from a vet near our home, he needed an operation for a fluid filled sack. The morning I was worried, as any dog owner would be, from start to finish he received the very best care, he is already back to his self, the stitches are very neat and the problem has been dealt with. Local Vets can only receive 5 stars, but I think they exceed this, fabulous staff in an excellent environment I recommend it to everyone.

Stay well clear…

Stay well clear…. Went for ultra sound scan ONLY…. Was there for 7-8mins came to pay told £35 for scan £30 for consultation….. what consultation…. Only had a scan!!!! Refused to pay consolation charges but was willing to pay scan charges…. Asked me to wait till owners got in, but had to be elsewhere so left without paying but asked them to call and I’ll pay over phone. Upon calling me I tried to explain that I had no consultation, and 6 months prior I paid just for a scan but lady was having none of anything but instead blamed staff for charging wrong fee 🤷🏽‍♂️ and wanted full payment or will be starting debt letters and collection. AVOID…. Wish I’d read the reviews before using this place in past and definitely won’t go here again. 🤬🤬

Very rude staff

Very rude staff. Don't give out right advise and need to retrain their reception staff. Do not take your pet here for a c section all your dog is is a number to them. Carrying out c sections one after another.. No compassion what so ever for your pet or your self. Avoid at all costs.
