Bad Luthier
Listen to this man’s singing and playing by all means but do not buy a guitar, or anything else, from him.
I made the mistake of asking him to make me a baritone ukulele. It cost more than 1,000 Euros, took several months to arrive (which is fair enough for a luthier produced instrument) but when it did, instead of being a joy, it turned out to be junk.
The saddle didn’t fit the slot and was pointing forward towards the headstock with no contact with the pick-up in the bridge. The fretboard was uneven and the fret wires were unfinished. The cellulose finish was very poor with an unpleasant orange peel effect on the headstock, the top was covered in blemishes and there is a crease in the side of the lower bout.
I tried to get Luca to fix the problems and sent him pictures to show just how bad the instrument was but he just replied with flippant emails.
The upshot being I had to pay an English luthier 300 Euros to refit the saddle and fix the problems with the fretboard. I have, so far, decided to put up with the poor finish, the blemishes and the crease.
Sadly, signor Zerilli has no pride. As the professional I got to fix the immediate problems said, “No luthier would let anything as bad as this leave his shop, he should be ashamed.”
You have been warned.
