I have been a customer of Lakshmi for more than 4 years…

I have been a customer of Lakshmi Stores for over 4 years, but this recent experience was extremely disappointing.

My order included perishable fresh vegetables and frozen items, along with a paid temperature control pack. The delivery arrived in a cardboard box that already had visible holes, indicating the box was damaged or reused before packing. This raised serious concerns about hygiene, pest risk, and temperature control.

I raised the issue with photo evidence. Instead of addressing the damaged outer packaging, the response focused only on internal policies and explanations about inner wrapping and “air circulation”. No apology, refund, or replacement was offered.

Fresh food deliveries require intact and fit-for-purpose packaging, especially when frozen items are included. Unfortunately, this standard was not met, and the concern was dismissed rather than resolved.

Very disappointing experience, especially for a long-term customer.

Excellent fruit and packaging.

I ordered 4kg of Longan fruit. The fruit was excellent, very fresh. The packaging used to pack the fruit was first class quality. The shipping packaging was also excellent and well packed. Furthermore the price of my items was much less than I would have paid elsewhere.

I ordered over a £100 worth of shopping and it did not arrive in time, when i kept calling them and escalated the matter, finally the package arrived today sweet tin dented asked for a replacement they refused. Customer service is terrible avoid this company

Very disgusting company with zero customer service

I received a birthday gift sent from overseas by my sis who's in her late 70's and wanted to give me something 'local.'

Delivery on 22nd Dec 25, the next day, I opened a custard apple - ROTTEN.
The 3 mangoes were very green and one after another rotting before they could ripen.
Lakshmi stores only give excuses and excuses..horrible company, waste of money and time..avoid like the plague.

I have ordered food online from this…

I have ordered food online from this shop a couple of times in the past, mostly canned or dry items, and never had an issue. This time I bought laddu as they advertised they were fresh! They came stale, the taste was bad/bitter, and I immediately realized they were old and rotten, so I binned them. I requested a refund for that item from the shop, but they refused unfortunately. I would not buy from them again and highly recommend not to buy items that are advertised as fresh.

Fresh food delivered mouldy!

I was really disappointed that some of the fresh food (pakora and aloo tikki) was delivered covered in spots of mould.

When I contacted the shop, they really couldn't care less. I was told that it left in perfect condition and as a result they cannot offer a refund or replacement (thank, you Kayalvizhi).

As a long time customer of Lakshmi Stores, this will be my last purchase.

I am a regular customer of lakshmi stores. They have excellent customer service. Recently teammember kayalvizhi helped me to sort a issue with my order.it was so quick. Thank for her and the things i brought was good quality and fresh. I recommend this store.

Worst experience

Worst experience. Flowers delivered were all rotten and black. The delivery was just a day before pooja, so had to rush to some other store to get the same again. When raised a complaint, they said it is all due to weather and they cannot do anything in this order and suggested some discount in next order. Never gonna order again anyways. Stores should not be selling products which they cannot deliver with quality. Would definitely not recommend to anyone.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. I deeply regret shopping at this store. They delivered the wrong items, and now they refuse to issue a refund until I return them—despite the fact that I’m severely ill and unable to go out. I’ve called multiple times to report their mistake, yet their customer service is utterly unhelpful. I asked for the nearest DPD drop-off point and was sent links to locations at least a 17-minute drive away! I honestly can’t believe this. Instead of taking responsibility, they expect me to fix their error. Zero stars. Absolutely disappointing.…

Spoiled Fish and Terrible Experience – Beware!

This was one of the worst experiences we’ve had. We ordered fish online, trusting it would be fresh and worth the high price we paid. Unfortunately, the fish we received was completely spoiled and rotten. It was truly a pathetic experience. Please be cautious and don’t blindly trust sellers like this—ensure you verify the quality first. What we received wasn’t even 50-60% of what was promised.

Asked for frozen fish and also paid extra for cool packaging, but everything came fully thawed. then they apologised and sent another lot free of charge and as before all came fully thawed. Not good frozen food packaging. My advice is don't bother buying frozen food from them

Good

I’ve ordered from here many times now—especially for their mangoes. I’m really grateful that they stock a wide variety, not just the usual popular ones. We’ve had a few issues along the way. Customer service can be a bit slow and sometimes requires follow-up, but they’ve always resolved things in the end. All in all, a good experience!

Very Disappointed – Spoiled Fish, No Refund

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience. I ordered a 1kg PRE-ORDER VILLAIMEEN UNCLEANED fish and received it on a Saturday. The moment I opened the package, it had a strong, unpleasant smell. I followed all proper cleaning and cooking methods (including a traditional Indian recipe), but the fish was clearly spoiled. I had to throw the entire dish away.

When I contacted customer service to request a refund, I was told I had not reported the issue within 24 hours—as if spoiled fish magically expires at exactly 24 hours. This is unreasonable and dismissive of real quality concerns.

Additionally, the mangosteen I received was tiny and not worth the price.

This experience shows a lack of accountability and poor customer service. I will not be ordering from them again, and I strongly suggest others think twice before trusting the quality of the products or the support behind them.

Disappointed with Expired Products & Poor Customer Service

I recently placed an order with Lakshmi stores and had a terrible experience. They delivered products that were over a year old and set to expire within a week. On top of that, I ordered a specific leafy vegetable, but they substituted it with a completely different one which I am allergic to and without informing me.

I immediately reached out to customer service, and while they initially acknowledged my complaint, it has now been over 10 days with no response. This is unacceptable, especially when it comes to food safety and customer health.

I expected better transparency and service, but unfortunately, this experience has left me extremely disappointed. I won’t be ordering from here again, and I advise others to check expiry dates carefully if shopping here

No regrets. excellent quality products, great value, packed well and dispatched promptly, despite it being in the middle of the holiday season. Thoroughly recommend this store for anyone who enjoys cooking Asian food and doesn't want to buy small amounts of spices etc from UK supermarkets at double the price.
