We had an amazing couple look after our dog and house. Our dog was so well cared for. Would highly recommend House Sitters to everyone.

Great communication from our house sitter. Enabling us to meet up prior to going away, so we could ensure that we were happy with the person looking after our property and fur baby.
We are using Kiwi House Sitters again at the moment and would recommend people have a look at the profiles, to select what type of person they feel comfortable leaving their home with. They offer a good service, making it easy to select someone that matches your needs.

I have used Kiwi housesitters for several years. I find the website very easy to navigate. I appreciate being able to see the reviews as well as bios of prospective sitters. Maintaining the free use of the site for home owners is a great benefit.

Great communication with people from my advert. You could see a calendar for each available person wanting or could be in my area.
Gale came to look after my two dogs for the weekend. She arrived the day before to see how we operate.
The site was easy to navigate and the process quick. Good response Kiwi Sitters and available sitters. Gale was a great sitter. Shall definitely use Kiwi Sitters again.

We have found many wonderful people through Kiwi House Sitters. We have had great success with sitters who have all been a nice fit for us and our lovely cat. I find the website comprehensive and easy to use. I thoroughly recommend these folks.

Would highly recommend signing up and there are many available house sits, more being advertised every few days, and most home owners respond with 24hrs.

Easy to look through and approach possible housesitters. Found a really great one who was perfect for our 7 weeks away.

The app is clearly oversaturated. Every time I reach out to someone, even when they posted earlier that day or the day before, they tell me they've already had a couple, 5, 10 people reach out to them and are going to go with them. I've been on the app for 3 months and have reached out to at least 15 people. I should've just paid the extra $100 for Trusted Housesitters, who have a refund guarantee if you can't land a gig.

I normally use Trusted Hilouse Sitters, which has been great. When I came to NZ I signed up for Kiwi HS. As a sitter, I get so many requests with no relevant info. There is no requirement for people to complete profiles with pics & pet info. Very frustrating. Had one excellent sit but I don't trust this site to give me the info I need to feel safe. Needs more requirements of members to provide full info & pics. I don't trust this site & have refused to respond to those that do not properly ost their sit. I will not renew

We just used Kiwi House Sitters for the first time for our two week holiday. We very quickly found a house sitter with fantastic reviews and had a smooth and positive experience. She left our home clean and tidy and our pets were well cared for! She sent us a few photos of our pets too which was really lovely. We arrived home at 2am to wonderfully clean home and happy cats!

It is sad to see so many negative reviews and experiences here. I'd highly recommend if you use the site to make sure who you select has a few great reviews before you select them! There are some great sitters with heaps of great reviews!

My partner and I encountered issues with Immigration NZ and face deportation because house-sitting is considered work in this country, which we didn't realize. Kiwi House Sitters had no mention of that on their website that I could find and considering they charge for their services a simple disclaimer would go a long way. I have now found out that their affiliate site, Trusted Housesitters, has run into multiple issues for this exact same issue and is facing consumer action in its home country.

If you are not from NZ or don't have a work visa, do not sign up for this website. That goes for their affiliate sites as well.

I used this site quite often and had good experiences until Fiona came to stay. I came home to a damaged table top, a damaged duvet and cover, missing items, and heating bills 6 times the norm. We had agreed no-one other than herself was to be in my home and there was evidence she had been entertaining. She messaged me on my first day away changing departure plans and asking for my personal passwords.
I asked Kiwihousesitters for her last name and the names of the people who had been in my house. They have done nothing to assist with the damage or an insurance or police report. They claim they are proceeding with a complaint process, but Fiona continues to have full access to their site.
Home owners be advised, there are no repercussions or protections in place for bad eggs.

Lacks viral information and proper communications. Cammy and Ben are the house sitters we selected. They were nice and sweet at the 1st. Once house sit started they started acting weird and blaming what not on a innocent pup, our locality and on us. They never bothered to update us about our pup all they were doing is enjoying the comforts and ignoring about our pup and house. Our pup was weighing 8kg but when we returned he turned skinny and bones. Our new property had damages. They were true nightmare for us. We were continents apart and felt helpless. Honestly guys don't ever go with this website and specially with sitters CAMMY AND BEN. They used our property and damaged some of our items like breaking kitchen counter top, sink, toilet bowl. They are the most unhygienic people they left our place shabby specially toilets. They used all our groceries and dint bother to replenish or inform us.
Website doesn't have set rules they always take sitters side as they pay $84 /year. To save yourselves from turmoil and if you wish that your pet should have a good time don't choose KIWI HOUSE SITTERS AND SITTERS LIKE CAMMY AND BEN.

This is purely a place for people to stay and use your house for free. There is no safeguards in place for the homeowner. It is clearly unsafe.

I have been a housesitter for many years. With many sites worldwide. As a kiwi, I have tried to support kiwihousesitters -- but they simply do not LISTEN. They have forgotten sitters are volunteer and PAY to join their site. Their review process reminds me of the transactional nature of airbnb. Not what a volunteer is about. Their site is full of "filled" listings as it is too illogial/clunky for elderly/non-computer whiz people to click a BIG BUTTON "found sitter". Once was ok, now terrible. Cant wait for its replacement. Now they have employed an admin person rather than address things themselves. More unhelpful help and unnecessary cost. SITE is great IDEA but dismal execution. People who post great reveiws are homeowners (not paying) or desparate travellers needing accomodation (not the ideal sitter). They have designed a site with no input from long term sitters.

Don’t use this company! If anything goes wrong they blame the homeowner. You have nothing to back you. Trust me, it happened to me. I will continue to tell everyone I possibly can what happened to my pet and my home under the care of Roxy in Nelson because KHS don’t actually care what their sitters do to your pets and home. It’s disgusting .

I've used kiwi house sitters at least 6 times over the last few years, different sitters each time. I've never had an issue with any of them. It's a win win situation where they get free accomodation and I get free pet care.

Used this service when i went on vacation. Felt great to know that my house was getting looked after.

One star to much Kiwihousesitters need to stick to their polices they get owners to tick. This is not good enough - The fact of the matter is the homeowners said that you agreed to having others on the property and believed you were staying in your van. NOW why would I housesit in winter to sleep in a van with no heating. I had a 24yr man turn up drinking demanding to stay as its his mums house. This mum knew I was on my own no reception for ph and internet and allowed him to turn up at night 8.40ish pm to stay in a one bedroom place. After she and partner confirmed no one would be needing to come in house as some others were going and coming from a nearby cabin. As I said to kiwihousesitters of course I am not that stupid but even if I was your polices stated no one should be coming on the property. You put me at risk and scared the heck out of me. These owners should not have gotten a 2nd chance. I have not been able to housesit for people I don't know since

Many postings are filled already and not taken down. So in reality the site cannot be trusted. This feedback was given to the kiwihousitters a few years back and my recent experience, it has not improved. They blame home owners. Seriously, blaming their customers is simply a joke. They need to improve intuitiveness of how to tag posting status - "reviewing applications", "found a sitter, yah!". Sadly the admin person, though well meaning, missed the point and impact.

I now use other sites more as they can be trusted.
