Bought a fish tank from here. It wasnt quite of the standard I'd expect.

I ordered through Jungle Pets as they are recommended by a Gerbil group i'm in. It said delivery could take a while however it came really quickly, was packaged very securely with lots of cardboard and packing peanuts (which were easy for me to dissolve in the bath, much better than throwing them in the rubbish). My gerbils loves the tank and takes great joy in licking the glass and building tunnels. The only reason i've taken a star off is that there was some loose silicone and a blue gel substance which smelt quite heavily on the tank, but i wiped the blue substance off and the silicone doesn't bother me or my gerbil too much as he doesn't try to eat it. Overall very pleased - thank you!

AVOID !! Silicon used too much and carelessly. In straight lines: waves, bulges, streaks. The aquarium cannot be used. It was delivered before the silicone was fully dry. What the manufacturer himself confirms. Not professionally made, very amateurish. Defects cannot be removed at home. The product was made below any aesthetic standards. I was not able to check the quality at the time of delivery as the driver left this aquarium at my front door, asked me to sign that I have received the order, and went away as he was rush. The quality and service is very low.

We ordered a custom tank from The Jungle online for collection. It was quoted 7 working days for production.

Me and my partner went to The Jungle today to have a look around and to just check on our order. Firstly ALL the tanks have an awful finish to them. The silicone on the tanks is horrendously done and very messy my 11 year old could have done a better job. The glass on some of the tanks had chips in and not flush. This obviously worried us as we did not want a tank with silicone all over as it is not easy to hide. I spoke to a lady called Lisa who seemed to the only one working there, and asked if she knew when our tank would be ready. She kindly went to see if they could get it done by this weekend. I was then told by her that it would be a couple of weeks for our tank to be ready. I was quite shocked as the website stated 7 working days.
In the store they did have some Euro tanks that were all ready pre made with black silicon which looked alot more presentable than the clear silicone, so we decided to go with 2 Euro tanks that worked out the same sort of price that we paid for the custom made tank. Upon getting these tanks home and unboxing them there is little silicon on some top corners and one of the LED lights is not working (this is okay as we have our own LED light) The one that is working is Pink and cannot change the colour of the LED strip. We are keeping both tanks and have set them up and hold water fine. I just feel the attitude of the staff who are making these tanks is "oh that will do" and there is no pride taken in their work. If more time was taken and more attention to detail with the silicone and the glass they would be great looking tanks.

In regards to the selection of products they sell they have a great range of products but a small selection of hard scape. The fish looked healthy I just hope they are given more attention and care than there tanks.

This store has great potential and promise if more care and attention was given, it is just a shame that this is not the case at the moment.

Unfortunately we will not be returning to The Jungle for any further tanks or scaping materials from what we have seen today.

DO NOT USE THIS FIRM: My tale of woe:
I was needing a rigid rectangular shaped pond to fit into my garage (now a tropical house for turtles). The width available was limited, so I searched the internet for viable designs. One search hit took me directly to a web page on the junglepets.co.uk website. A fibreglass pond there seemed suitable, and crucially, was 50mm narrower than the space I had available. Length and depth were also good. I purchased. After 6 weeks, the pond was delivered.
Immediately I noticed that the pond looked very large. I took some measurements and found that all three dimensions were larger than specified, the width (my crucial measurement) was nearly 11cm larger than quoted. (i.e. 10% larger). These made the pond 1700+ litres, and not 1350 litres as advertised. Crucially, this pond’s larger size meant that it would not fit the space in my garage (with no way of enlarging that space).
No problem, I contacted Junglepets immediately and asked if they had a pond nearer to the dimensions I needed. (the plan I offered was I would swap ponds, and pay the extra delivery).
No answer (this would become a theme). A week later I contacted them again, and asked why no reply. “oh, I have been out of the office” (this would also become a recurring theme). They said they would look into the possibility, (change of pond) and get back to me. Guess what… no reply.
After a couple of weeks I guessed that there would be no change of pond, and asked for a refund, and under the Consumer Protection act 2015 ‘goods not as described’, for them to collect the pond.
The reply I got was amazing. Apparently if I check their ‘terms and conditions’ page, there they quote ‘all sizes are approximate’ and that therefore the pond is perfectly OK as it is!! The refund therefore will be under their terms, and I would bear the cost of the return.
Note: Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 (SI 2334)… where goods are returned as a right due to a breach of a term implied by statute (specifically s. 14 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979), (i.e. Goods not as described) the rights, given by r. 14(5), of a seller (them) to require the buyer (me) to bear the cost of a return is dis-applied.

So as to this “approximate measurement” nonsense. All measurements are actually approximations because we are always limited by the precision of the measuring tool we are using.
For example, if you are using a ruler with centimetre and half-centimetre divisions (as you might find on a metre stick), you can only approximate the measurement to the nearest mm (0.1 cm). If the ruler has millimetre divisions (as you might find on a ruler in your geometry set), you can approximate the measurement to a fraction of a mm (usually to the nearest 1/2 mm). In Junglepets case, their quoted measurements for the pond were all to the nearest 5mm. (1940mmX1025mmX 790mm) which leads me to suspect that their measuring tool had at the very least 1cm (or 10mm) gradations, allowing the 1025mm measurement to be an approximation between 1020 and 1030mm. The actual measurement of this was 1135mm (110mm or (11cm) larger than described!!)
So if you buy a 48” long fishtank from Junglepets, they claim that if it turns out to be somewhere between 43” and 53” then that is approximately OK.!!
Without the pond being returned I could not claim my money back, and Junglepets were making it financially difficult for me by insisting I send it back by courier, myself bearing the cost. They thought they had me …
I engaged a courier (£162) and advised Junglepets that the pond would be returned to them, and that I would be seeking this cost to be added to my refund, and that a failure to do so would result in an action in the County Courts.
Oh! Suddenly they could collect the pond. I was able to cancel the courier (fortunately) and waited… and waited. After more ‘out of office’ and ‘on holiday’ excuses 3 weeks later the pond went back.
And I waited for my refund…..The legal time limit for a firm to provide a refund after return of goods is 14 days. This came and went. No communication at all from Junglepets.
I prepared and sent a final demand for refund, giving two choices, payment within seven days or Court action would automatically begin, with costs accruing from that point. Suddenly more excuses and apologies for the delay, and they would refund by Paypal….. but of course there was one more nasty little trick from Junglepets…. They dated the payment to start the process at the very end of the ‘within seven days’ deadline I had given them. As I paid by card, completion took a further 3 days. I can think of no good reason for them to do this…..
Quality of product: 0 points. Quality of customer service: -4000 points.
Time from receiving the pond until refund: 5 months.

I ordered a custom made terrapin tank for £199. after waiting up to a month for delivery I was then informed that I would have to pay an extra £40 due to them no longer making the terrapin tank I had ordered even though I had had deep discussions with Lisa about it on numerous occasions. When I finally received the custom made tank, I had made it very clear to Lisa on the phone that I was 7 months pregnant, unable to inspect it fully as I would not be able to lift it to move it around and it would be kept in storage until I moved home in the following weeks. The tank was placed in a back bedroom by a lovely delivery guy as I could not lift it into the house due to its size and being solid glass. At my new home I filled the tank with water to discover that the black silicone was all over the place, I then emailed Lisa on numerous occasions and was ignored. weeks later I finally get a reply which basically told me to do one and accused me of having "zoomed in" photos as evidence! i found this totally ridiculous as it would of been a bit stupid of me to stand 2 meters away from the tank to take a photo which needed to focus on the silicone! they are an outrageous company which can not fulfil orders as promised and are not willing to offer any form of compensation or refund for their terrible custom made products. As I am the first person reviewing their company on here, I think its pretty obvious that they are a small scale company with no reputation yet. STEER CLEAR !!

Just like to add that I am happy to upload my tenancy agreement and all screen shots with dates of when I moved into my new property and how I sent immediate emails complaining when I first filled it with water ! Also the custom built tank I purchased was a type you rarely do because of its size according to Lisa so hardly any of them have been produced by the company. The company should be apologising not spurring me on to prove their comment below to be so incorrect

And yes I did threaten to put a bad review. That is the whole point of trust pilots existence. To be able to review any website after having either a good, bad or satisfactory experience. Also your other good reviews on eBay are for out sources products which were not built by yourselves.
