Terrible experience with Invisalign

Terrible experience with Invisalign. First the trays didn’t fit and all had to be remade, then at the end of treatment I had to attempt 4 times to get retainers that fit my teeth and each one has failed so I’m left with nothing and my teeth will anyway move again. Appalling waste of money and lack of quality. If you are serious about straightening your teeth, stick with the fixed braces

Poor customer service & login not working on website

Login / registration not working. Got in once eventually, and then it didn't recognise my password the next time. Renewing password also didn't work - so no access to my plan. Really frustrating customer service. Had to wait for call back (work hours) but the call handler ignored everything I said and told me irrelevant info as if reading from a script. Frustrating conversation where he was unable to listen to my issue. e.g. told me help buttons on the app, when i was using the website login. Unable to help, told me I'd have to wait for someone else with technical knowledge. 'Need help' options on the website don't give options to add screenshots. Plan has a nice 3d before and after prediction, but no timescales when starting, what would need to be done to start. No customer service number - poor contact us form. Frustrating trying to get help.

Invisalign: genuine game changer

Invisalign: genuine game changer

Not going to lie, my teeth used to stress me out.

I'm on camera every single day. Filming, streaming etc. I really didn't like the idea of traditional braces - really there was no chance I was doing metal in my mouth for a year plus. Invisalign was a game changer. You literally cannot see them. My audience had no idea I was even doing treatment - I only told people after. In, out for food, back in. That was basically it.

The experience with the doctor was really cool too, nothing painful or uncomfortable. New aligners might pinch for a day but then I'd get used to them. The bit that actually blew me away was the preview they show you at the start - a little video of what your smile's going to look like at the end based on scans of your initial teeth. I remember thinking there is no way it ends up like that! It actually ended up better! If you're thinking about it, just do it. Honestly, one of the best things I've done.

My son is a content creator and he lives on camera. Between filming, streaming, and posting, and of course real life, he'd become really conscious of his smile. When we started looking at options, traditional braces were a non-starter for him - the idea of a mouthful of metal for the next year was a no-go. Invisalign was the obvious alternative.

The clear aligners were genuinely invisible on camera. I've watched lots of his content from the last year and a half and I could hardly tell you which clips were filmed with them in and which weren't.

The practical side surprised me too. He got into a rhythm with it fast - swapping the aligners in and out for eating etc. There was some tightness with each new set, as you'd expect, but nothing that stopped him eating or talking or doing his thing.

And all our interactions with our doctor were quick and easy. Even the app, which enables communication with the doctor if required, was super easy to use. We were particularly impressed by the before and after predictions of what his smile was going to look like - and I have to say, the finished result is even better than predicted.

Now his teeth look genuinely fantastic.

If you've got a teenager weighing up braces versus aligners, especially one whose life is lived on a screen or a job that requires confidence, I can't recommend Invisalign highly enough.

Perfect. My experience with Invisalign was…

My experience with Invisalign was absolutely faultless. My doctor explained everything so clearly to me and also made sure I was able to complete my treatment away from home (something I didn’t think was possible). He was always available via virtual care communications to talk me through any questions I had and always sent me away with enough aligners to last me for the whole duration!

It was brilliant and I’m SO happy with the results!!

Invisalign has changed my life..

Invisalign has changed my smile... and my life!

Both my sisters had braces as kids and as much as I envied their straight smiles, I did not envy the pain I saw them experience whilst they were wearing their braces. That was something that dissuaded me from trying to get straighter teeth for a long time. When I finally decided to look into alternatives to braces, I was nervous but in hindsight, I needn't have been. For me, the Invisalign aligners were perfect: discreet (I am a musician and didn't want to disrupt my recording or content filming with something really visible), next to painless (sure the aligners can feel tight when first worn but they never irritated my gums or tongue or anything like that), and easy to manage (I swapped my sets of aligners each week and got into a routine of cleaning them so after a month or so it was like clockwork.) I am over the moon with my results, my teeth seem unrecognisable to me from when I started my journey. I would highly recommend Invisalign aligners to anyone who wanted a better smile!

3 years but the results are not clear

Next month will be my third year of using Invisalign. My teeth are a little neater but a little strange, there is one upper tooth that still hasn't come down and there is one lower tooth that is crooked. Even though I have undergone scans and repairs, in a year these two teeth have not shown any progress. And remain in the same position. Even though they look neat from the side, my teeth look like an overbite. I don't like my doctor who is too rough when opening my mouth. and doesn't see in detail that there is a mistake. Even though I complained, they just said it was okay or not a problem. I asked when it would be finished, and the nurse said anytime 😢. Even though my teeth are strange 😭. Next April I will be given another scan to fix it. Will this really be good? 3 years is a very long time. You even have to be patient when eating/drinking colored food. Even when it hurts, it is very torturous

I really loooove the end results

I really loooove the end results! It's been rather comfortable to wear, not as bad as a thought. My journey was pretty long (I was kinda shocked in the beginning because it would take 1,5 years) But the time went by very quickly and it was really okay to wear for so long! My doctor knew exactly what he was doing, which made it even better. Would def recommend if you are looking for clear aligners etc.

TERRIBLE customer support

Like the product and the results BUT, they have the WORST customer service and support. I have reached out to them 3 times via their app and 3 times via email over the past 9 weeks with no response. Additionally, when you receive your aligners, they have you fill out a form for a free custom retainer case and cleaning crystals. I’m almost done with my treatment and still have not received the items. Boggled by their poor service. They certainly receive more than enough money to staff a customer service center

I found the whole process incredibly…

I found the whole process incredibly easy and comfortable.
I changed my aligners weekly and the difference was so noticeable. Yes it’s a little uncomfortable for the first day each time you change but that’s to be expected.
But the end result are amazing.

Be very wary!! £4000 and not what I paid for

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Invisalign. I spent £4,000 on Invisalign treatment under the promise of achieving perfectly straight teeth — a message my dentist promotes heavily on their Instagram. Despite following the treatment exactly as instructed, I have one tooth that is still not straight, which defeats the purpose of investing so much money.
When I raised this issue with my Dentist I was told the only solution would be composite bonding at an additional £350. This feels unacceptable, especially when Invisalign is advertised as being able to straighten teeth without the need for extra cosmetic add-ons.
I was also told that Invisalign treatment continues until you are happy with your teeth, but this never happened. My treatment was considered “complete” even though I clearly still have a crooked tooth.
I have now contacted Invisalign directly and am waiting for a response, as I strongly believe the appropriate solution should be additional aligners to correct the tooth that remains crooked, not paying more for a cosmetic workaround.
I trusted Invisalign with a significant investment, and I feel misled and let down. I expected better accountability, transparency, and commitment to achieving the results they promote so confidently.

I want this sorted ASAP

Honest review

I'm 9 weeks into the predicted 19 week journey. So far I can see a big difference already but I do feel like I wasn't appropriately warned about a lot of things initially.
- the pain - it hurt A LOT to begin with and caused constant headaches. It gets better and I found my own method of dealing with it - gum numbing gel before each new retainer (once weekly)
- having to brush your teeth after eating and drinking anything other than water. I go out for coffee/breakfast/lunch/dinner/drinks frequently so it's a huge pain in the arse and hard to keep up with.
- I was NEVER warned I'd have to wear a nightly retainer for the rest of my life. I'd still have done it but it would be good to know.
- cleaning it I was told to brush it but my mouth never felt clean. I got a cheap retainer cleaner on Amazon which does the job a lot better.
It's really expensive but I think I'm the long run it's worth it. I have a lot of friends who had it years ago and are very happy they did it

Permanently damaged enamel, and their cases are too small for the retainers

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

My top front incisor teeth have permanent and very visible abrasions on the enamel from the removal of the Invisalign attachments, which is something they don't warn you about. My teeth were perfectly healthy before, albeit a little crowded, and now I will have a lifetime of sensitivity, staining, brittleness and lack of confidence, due to their abysmal product.

Furthermore their retainers cost £360 and don't even fit inside the case they provide you with, so they won't be adequately protected.

Literally paid thousands, to have my teeth mutilated.

They don't allow photos on reviews, otherwise I would have provided evidence of all of the above, but please take my word for it and don't throw your money away, to have your teeth butchered.

Invisalign cleaning crystals - expired use by dates - Disrespectful customer service

I've been wearing invisalign nightly retainers for several years now, following a very satisfactory realignment with the invisalign system. Follwing the end of the realignment, you are issued with 3 sets of identical aligners to wear at night, along with invisalign cleaning crystals. I made the mistake once the crystals ran out of using some random ones from Amazon which destroyed one set of retainers, so I buy directly from invisalign now, at the eye watering price of £50GBP for a 50 day supply. £1 per day to clean your aligners!

The last 2 orders I received from Invisalign (February 2025 and August 2025) they have sent me boxes where "use before date" has expired, in this case the order I just received was expired on 13th February 2025 and received in August 6th 2025.

This isn't the first time this has happened. I had the same problem with my last 2 orders.

On the last 2 occasions I clicked the "If you have any questions about your order please contact us" link only to be taken to a form you submit with your oder number. I fill it out, and hear nothing.

I find this deeply disrespectful.

Today i have written to invisalign as follows:

Per the Medical Devices Regulations 2002 (as amended by UK MDR 2019 & 2020), “medical devices must not be supplied past their manufacturer-set expiry or ‘use by’ date, because their safety, efficacy, and sterility cannot be guaranteed.” These cleaning crystals are a Class I medical device accessory under the Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.

Further, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires that goods be “of satisfactory quality,” “fit for purpose,” and “as described.” Expired goods fail all three tests. The Consumer Protection Act 1987 also prohibits the sale of unsafe goods.

Please confirm within 7 days:
You have sent a full replacement with in-date stock (that is, 2x 50 day supply packets per my order below)
Written confirmation expired stock has been removed from sale.
Each time I logged a response on your website and never heard back. I find this behaviour towards your customers to be deeply disrespectful.
If I do not hear back, I will escalate to Trading Standards, the MHRA, and my card provider for recovery under the relevant consumer protections.

I'll post back on any developments. Based on the fact they never bothered responding to me in the past, let's see.

UPDATE - 27TH AUGUST

After email contact with Invisalign in the US, I was contacted directly by the Global eCommerce Manager at Invisalign, who handled my complaint personally and professionally.

Immediately arranged for the expired product to be removed from their logistics system, sent me replacement crystals with a 2028 expiry date, and even offered a goodwill discount for future orders.

I also really appreciated the human touch. Acknowledging the frustration of my earlier attempts to reach customer support and made me feel heard.

This kind of direct response has gone a long way in restoring my trust in the brand. While I hope Invisalign improves their first-line customer support to avoid this kind of escalation being needed in the future, I’m happy to update my review to reflect the excellent follow-up and resolution I received.

It’s a con

I had Invisalign for 2 years and although it helped to straighten my teeth, they didn’t align my teeth to my face/jaw. My bottom teeth are noticeably leaning left and the upper teeth are angled inwards. When I raised this issue towards the end of my treatment I was told I would have to pay more to them properly aligned… even after 2 years worth of treatment. The most dissatisfying money I have ever spent.
