My anxiety levels were sky high in anticipation of my move from Barry to Newport, and after watching the absolute horror my neighbour went through during her move using “2 men and a white van” the previous year I vowed to pay for the services of professional movers and swallow the higher cost in lieu of a (hopefully!) stress-free moving day. I did arrange surveys and quotes with a few moving companies beforehand, and in actual fact Intercity Removals were the most expensive, BUT, unable to get any first-hand personal recommendations, my gut instinct was to go with them.

I moved from a furnished one-bed apartment on the 3rd floor of an apartment block with no lift, and although no heavy furniture or white goods were moved I still had many belongings and smaller pieces of furniture. Instead of a WhatsApp virtual walk-through survey I requested a ‘proper’ survey at the property so that they could see exactly what I would be packing up for the move, which Ciprian was more than happy to come out and do. So, there were lots of stairs to navigate and due to my location I needed the moving team to be fully aware of parking restrictions in advance so that they had time to consider their options and not be surprised on the day. My worry, for whichever moving company I decided to use, was for them to do a ‘virtual survey’ then turn up on the day and up the price due to a situation that was not taken into consideration when they gave me a quote. It was therefore very important for my peace of mind that someone come out and do a really thorough inspection of my property and belongings before quoting a price.

Once I had made my decision to go with Intercity Removals it was a weight off my mind and I could concentrate on the many other stresses that go with a big move. I mostly dealt with Ciprian and Grace in the office and they were both very friendly, reassuring and professional. My only gripe, and it did annoy me at the time, was an email I received the day after I paid my deposit over the phone with my debit card. The email requested that I pay my deposit to secure my moving date! It was irritating having to spend time during an already busy period to make an unnecessary call to the office to say I’d already paid my deposit ……. Ciprian calmed me down and apologised for the mistake, but their computerised system should have shown the payment had already been made, or at least the member of staff who sent the email should have made checks beforehand. It made me momentarily question the professionalism of the company, which was a great pity as everything, besides that mishap, went perfectly.

Because I lived in an apartment block and my move was early on a Saturday morning, I requested a later start time so as not to disturb my fellow residents too early in case they were having a lie-in at the end of a busy work week. This request was accommodated, no problem.

I chose to save money and pack my own belongings, with the exception of 2 large mirrors and a glass dining table top which the movers did on the day at no extra charge.

On moving day Stuart, Johnny, and Catalin arrived full of cheer and energy. Although Johnny and Catalin didn’t speak much English it was not a problem at all and did not impede the process one iota; their enthusiasm, energy and smiles more than made up for lack of deep conversation and we still managed to chat a bit in broken English nevertheless. They were adorable. Stuart’s sense of humour was great and they all seemed to enjoy their work, which made me happy and relaxed. They truly were a wonderful team; very friendly and cheerful, considering all the stairs they had to run up and down(!), but most importantly they were EFFICIENT AND FAST. I think it took them just over an hour to load my stuff in the van and we were on our way. Unloading the other end was just as cheerful and fast. No fuss, no moaning, just a happy bunch of guys who were determined to make the move as stress-free for me as possible, and for that I can’t thank them enough. The guys are a credit to the company and I do hope Intercity Removals appreciate their hard work and dedication. My mind constantly went back to the surly men who made my neighbour’s moving day an absolute misery, she was traumatised by the experience, and that’s not an exaggeration; my move, in comparison, was an absolute joy. I can honestly say, I literally had NO STRESS WHATSOEVER on the day, everything went beautifully, and if I’d known in advance how easy it would all be I’d have saved myself many sleepless nights worrying about what may go wrong ….

So, I’ve just spent a long time typing up a never-ending review. What I’m trying to say is this: PAY FOR THE EXPERTS. IT IS WORTH IT. BELIEVE ME!

Had to move some furniture from Port Talbot to London. The pre move service was excellent - very thorough.

On the day of the move Nick and Catalin were punctual, efficient and friendly, My furniture was delivered and unpacked with the same speed and efficiency as the collection.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Intercity Removals to anyone.

Friendly and Helpful
Great team both in the office and in the van. Both people moving were polite and helpful, offering to box up a couple of things I didn't think needed boxing (I did my own packing).
This is the second time I've used Intercity removals and I've always found the whole team polite and helpful.

Intercity Removals came galloping to the rescue when we were let down at the last minute by a Cardiff firm. So many thanks to Grace and all her team for all their help. With 5 days before moving date, they started moving us out the very next day (many, many boxes!) after my frantic phone call. Grace and her team not only rescued us, but did it in such a calm and friendly manner. We needed 3 smaller vans due to access of the new home, but they did it. Everyone was so helpful throughout the whole experience. I would recommend then to anyone. My thanks to all the office staff and all the guys, you’re the best!!!

Brilliant service with a great honest group. Following a gross underestimate of needs on the day of my move they still managed to get me another van sent out to allow all my belongings to be taken to my new property.
They work fast and carefully, managing to do double what another moving company managed at the same property in the same amount of time. Everything was put into my new house with zero damage, despite them having to cram bits into every available inch in the much smaller new property.
Helpful and friendly every step of the way, I’ll 100% be using them again for my next move.

If I could give more stars I would, I don't have a bad thing to say about Intercity Removals. Efficient, great commutation, friendly and outstanding value. Intercity Removals were understanding about my moving issues and when I was ready then were. If you want a reliable, friendly removal firm then these are your people. Will for sure be using again :)

We glad we found InterCity Removals. They provided excellent service from start to finish. We had Ciprian on the video call to do the survey and he gave us an honest opinion which allow us to do more research and comparison with other movers. Support from Grace in the office was also great. On the moving day, Nick & Florin provided with outstanding experience from loading, dismantling to the delivery at the new home. I chose Intercity Removals based on their professionalism and competitive pricing. Fabian & Puiu were absolutely excellent. They removed everything in my house and moved it to my new location. Both were very very helpful. As I like to help, I would pick things up and they would offer to take for me. Intercity Removals have been consummate professionals ever since my wife and I first had contact with them.

My wife and I recently got married and we were excited to be moving into our first house. Due to solicitors the whole process was drawn out; we had one week of annual leave together and we didn’t complete contracts until 10 minutes to spare on the Friday. Despite the short notice, Intercity Removals managed to move us out on the Sunday.

They turned an otherwise stressful experience into a predictable and calm one! They were friendly, efficient, flexible, professional and trustworthy throughout, and we were particularly impressed on their communication. And the move itself was rapid- worth every penny!

Great experience so far with intercity. They are all very helpful and accommodating. The packing service is really professional, everything is handled with such care.

Viorel & Andrew provided an excellent service which we found very professional. We were fully unloaded in the new house by 4pm with no hitches or dramas. Good customer service in the run up to the move as well.

Edi & Mihai at Intercity did a great job with our move across the width of the country. The entire thing went without a hitch. They properly packed our belongings the day before the move, ensuring that more sensitive electronics such as TVs and Monitors were appropriately packed. They didn't miss a single thing, and not a single item suffered any damage. I'd be more than happy to recommend them.

Edi & Alex were absolutely fantastic in moving me from Wales to Scotland over two days. They were very quick and efficient at packing up the van and unloading ... done in an hour both times. And very professional every step of the way. And they went beyond the call of duty to get my 3 -seater sofa out of my old house AND into the new flat without having to take the doors off (unlike the movers who moved me into my old place) ... particularly with taking it apart and putting it back together to get through the too-narrow doorway to the new lounge (I was prepared to leave it behind and/or taken to the local dump in Scotland). Intercity's customer service was fantastic from my initial enquiry through the booking and subsequent follow-ups. Everyone at Intercity made what was a really stressful situation for me a lot less problematic. I highly recommend them. If they ever branch out to Scotland, I would happily use them again for my next move.

The removal team were helpful and efficient. They carried out both the removal of furniture from the old property and delivery to the new property in a timely fashion and were helpful and polite throughout.

I was greatly impressed by your removal team, the speed and efficiency with which they worked, and also the great care they took to wrap and protect our precious framed pictures and antique items. Very congenial and good natured people. In a very few hours they had packed all the stuff, transported it a hundred and fifty odd miles, thoughtfully fitted it into the new house and gone on their way, leaving us happy to have known them.
The team we dealt with on the phone were fabulous too - polite, friendly, really expert and they gave us a great deal of confidence at what was a very stressful time.

I would highly recommend Intercity Removals. Everyone I spoke to and dealt with were very professional from the initial contact through to the time the team left when they had finished. I wasn’t moving far and already had access to my new home so didn’t have the time pressure that could have been there but Nick, Viorel and Adam worked quickly and the removal was completed in a matter of hours. Furniture was dismantled and reassembled as necessary and large fragile objects were bubble wrapped and handled with care. Nothing was damaged during the move.

The team arrived at the specified time and were friendly, having the time to chat to me as they worked. Items were boxed as necessary and unloaded to the locations requested.

Can’t fault them and thanks to all for making the move as stress free as possible,
