I have visited Hoarcross Hall many times over the years and always enjoyed the experience, however I visited in Oct 23 and had a terrible time. There were no places for us to sit or relax as beds were taken by people or towels and although there were signs stating towels would be removed by staff we didn’t see anyone all day. The relaxation rooms and sleep room were full all day. The amount of people to equipment ratio is all wrong. The food was awful as in that dry I couldn’t swallow it! For the money t you pay this is disgusting. I contacted the company and was told I could have £22 back for my meal. I didn’t receive calls to organise this so chased it. I then asked to be called after certain times in the day due to me working but this didn’t happen at all. Three weeks later the company do call but it’s when I am at work! They haven’t listened to me at all! I have asked that they stop contacting me for £22 refund now as it isn’t about the money more the lack of respect and listening skills that are the issue. I will not return to this spa again. It is sadly not as good as it once was
Hoarcross Hall Spa
Attended Hoarcross Hall today and booked in for a 1hr full body massage. The treatment actually lasted 50mins, as you lose time for the undressing/dressing and consultation. The actual massage was ok but not overly relaxing as I could hear the conversation of the people in the next room to me, along with foot fall in the corridor outside, so after a while I mentioned to the therapist, and she then rectified this by turning on the relaxing music in the room and apologised.
There was confusion over my spa entry and the receptionist seemed quite happy to pack me off, saying my voucher was only for a twilight spa, until I asked to be referred to a manager, and after a phone call to the manager, she then handed me a wrist fob to gain entry. Shortly after I ordered a decaf latte in the spa, it cost £5 and was served in a disposable cardboard cup and tasted awful, I almost sent it back but no staff around to do so. Overall, visit was disappointing and overpriced, won't be rushing back. Lovely surroundings but not the best service and not great value.

Hoarcross Hall advertised spa day with a full body massage plus lunch ? The massage wasn't a full body as advertised so misrepresentation did not receive what was stated . Most disappointing will not recommend to my friends .

Whats gone wrong with the prices at Hoarcross hall, the public are no fools, £17.65 for a single gin and tonic what a joke
Food in restaurant really good quality
I normally spend a fortune on drink but not this week end

Our granddaughter treated us to afternoon tea. One of the best afternoon teas we have had. A good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Really enjoyable. Excellent friendly service.
Fails at every level
Firstly, this review was sent to the head of guest services and the operations manager. I received calls from both but neither followed up as promised which straight away should tell you how little they really care about the customer experience. So ...
Every element of this hotel is poor. Check in took forever. You are offered a glass of prosecco while you wait which helped but think of anywhere else you've been where the wait is so long to check in, you need a drink! Then, you are given a Benidorm all inclusive plastic wristband to enable accrued costs to be charged to your room....a really poor touch. Then the printer wasn't working so we couldn't get a receipt. And by the way, on check out, the computers were down so again we couldn't get a receipt and didn't know what the charges were going to be! We were told someone would call to discuss the charges before taking any money...we never got the call.
The coffee machine didn't work and we tried to call reception for 15 minutes with no answer.
At dinner, we asked for balsamic dip with the bread and were refused by the chef.
The starter....a single croquette and an antipasti which showcased the 1980s beautifully with what looked like luncheon meat.
We asked for a red wine jus with the steak and were again refused by the waiter. The average Italian at £30 a head even does this (our "basic" bedroom, evening meal and breakfast was £400!). The fillet steak was dry, over cooked and fatty. When we raised this, the chef said they cannot control a bad batch (so, the suppliers fault then... given the producer is named on the menu, this will have a detrimental impact on his reputation) but it was also apparently our fault for asking for the steak to be cooked medium-well....so, anyone's fault but the chef then!
We have medium well fillet almost every week and this was probably the worst we've had.
Then the six (yes, 6) fat chips of which 2 were hard in the middle.
The steak meal carried a £10 supplement each and yet came only with tomato and grilled lettuce (and chips) which are cheap, there wasn't any mixed mushrooms or sauce included (the sauce being another £3).
We were so disappointed we didn't even order the inclusive dessert as my wife was at this point in tears. We weren't even offered an alternative main course by way of an apology. Or even a drink, nothing at all.
Then, you can have any draft beer you want as long as it's Peroni, literally, that's it!
You can't hear yourself think when the singer started as the room is too narrow. We moved to an area away from the noise but there are no occasional tables to put your drink on.
Then there was the cleaning standards. Strange brown stained bed runner anyone (see picture)?
Even the toiletries are fitted with anti-theft devices as are the coat hangers. All of which screams budget hotel rather than country house resort.
Then there was the breakfast. This was even worse than dinner. The cutlery was covered in white stains and when we raised this we were told that it was the "special" solution that cutlery is washed in. That's ok then!
A coffee urn to help yourself to...this is pure budget fayre. Even the cheap hotels have a machine or waiter service. The coffee itself was absolutely undrinkable and cold. The toaster wasn't working properly. The stainless steel hot food dish with the sausage in didn't work properly in that the lid wouldn't stay open so you had to put your plate down and use two hands to operate.
The buffet food....you could have your eggs anyway you wanted them as long as it was scrambled. Congeled beans, cold tomato, over cooked and greasy hash brown and not an allergy label in site. It was like one of those budget hotel types you stay in on a work conference. They do offer "proper coffee" by the way but at a £4 supplement! Ask yourself, why would they need to do this if the standard coffee was any good? Think of the cheapest budget "inn" and this is what was offered. I really wouldn't pay more than £75 for this experience and feel completely ripped off.
I urge anyone thinking of staying here, to save a couple of hundred pounds and go to the nearest budget chain. And grab a Dominoes or Maccy D, it will be far better. Or if you want to upgrade, try the Hilton at St George's park (we normally always stay here but there wasn't availability on this occasion because the FA were using it).
A very bad experience although some, not all of the staff are very good and the building and grounds are spectacular.
Great spa hotel in beautiful setting.
Great spa hotel in beautiful setting.
Had the best time at this beautiful hotel with friends. From the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They allowed us to use the gym facilities even though we arrived an hour earlier than expected so we could get the hard work out the way and let the relaxing begin!
We were then offered a glass of fizz after our workout and made to feel so welcome. The spa is HUGE with so many areas to relax different pool areas, saunas, steam rooms, plunge pool and many different facilities. We all had treatments and felt amazing for them. The facials were a particular favorite.
We had dinner, breakfast and lunch included in our package and was expecting a light bite for lunch but were so impressed to be given a full 3 courses for each meal and a full choice of cooked breakfast!
Honestly couldn't recommend the place enough. The grounds are beautiful, we're all planning another trip as soon as possible! Thank you to all the staff for making us feel so welcome and relaxed.
Customer service 10/10
I came to HoarCrossHall for a summer party with work, couldn’t be more impressed by the quality of customer service, especially from Izzy who was my fave bar tender of the night and was an absolute pleasure to talk with. I can’t praise the staff enough with how they pulled off such a seamless day/night.

The building and spa facilities were amazing the food was incredible however the spa treatments were below average. I had a Elemis facial and they didn’t use Elemis products but then suggested I purchased them after the facial as they would be best for my skin which is strange and you would think they would have been used in the facial. I also had a body massage and asked for it to be firm but it was like being brushed with a feather.
Beautiful venue, great staff!
The staff here couldn’t be more accommodating and friendly. We stayed in a group for a 40th birthday. Just a spa day with a three course lunch and it was really lovely. The archery lesson was a big highlight, great fun and enlightening!
Disappointed
We stayed overnight to relax before my daughter’s wedding having enjoyed previous visits. Unfortunately this visit didn’t live up to expectations. Waited ages for desserts finally having to ask for them, uncomfortable sofa bed in room, water off overnight due to leak so couldn’t flush toilets and breakfast transferred to spa restaurant reminded me of a chain hotel. Had to ask for a bread roll which didn’t arrive with lunchtime soup and and chicken and pasta dish was tasteless and watery. We were chastised by a pool attendant for leaving our towels and books on our beds next to the jacuzzi whilst we sat in the jacuzzi for a maximum of 10 minutes- embarrassing. This, despite the fact that numerous beds with towels left by people not even in the pool area were ignored. We encountered strands of hair and what appeared to be a scab in the hydrotherapy pool. I have had no response to my email from customer relations.
Not good
Not good. The one star is just for the food and restaurant staff as they were lovely.
But...the rest of the experience was dire. Dirty, cold, no staff available, poorly run.
No one asked at reception if we'd had a good day, no one asked if all had been well...so I waited for the obligatory review request which I filled in honestly. No response.
Definitely will not be returning.
Thank you, Jess!
My husband and had some vouchers that were a gift from his late grandmother. Unfortunately, due to a hectic schedule surrounding funeral arrangements and contracting COVID right after, he was unable to use them before the expiry date and was quite upset. I rang and explained the situation to Jess, and she was incredibly understanding and accommodating. She not only was able to honor the vouchers but also talked us through the booking process over the phone and had everything arranged within minutes. My husband is very much looking forward to his spa day and I’m thrilled to bits at the wonderful service Jess provided—she helped my husband to have one last connection to his grandmother.

We had an overnight stay at the venue a few weeks ago. There were some good points, the food was excellent ,some of the staff were friendly particularly in the Spa.however we had issues with our room number 426 which I strongly suggest everyone to avoid due to the noise which sounded like an air conditioning unit which was on all night and neither of us could sleep.also there was blood on the bedsheet which I obviously only noticed when i went to bed.I raised these concerns in person at reception but received no apololgy. On emailing once home I was advised a member of Management would be in touch and despite sending a chasing email noone has contacted me.Clearly customer service is severly lacking and because of this we will choose to spend our money elsewhere

Data protection
A warning for anyone paying by card at this spa . My daughter and I enjoyed a lovely visit to the spa in December 2021, a visit which was secured by my debit card. In November 2022 my daughter visited the spa again with a friend, unbeknownst to me, and a week later her bill was charged to my debit card. As soon as I noticed the unauthorised payment on my account I contacted the Hall and my bank. My bank responded promptly, took the view that this was fraud and cancelled my card. It took the Hall two days to get back to me, acknowledge their mistake and refund my money. So the problem has been resolved, after much inconvenience and anxiety, and with no offer of compensation, but my point is that my card details were retained for nearly a year and then mistakenly used to pay a charge on another account. This is an obvious breach of data protection legislation and presumably may apply to other people’s details as well as my own. Be warned!
Awful booking experience
Awful booking experience, I assumed a spa package covered both days spa access (the website said nothing about access when booking) and every other spa hotel i've been to allows spa access from check in to check out as standard. I'm then emailed by a customer service rep to say the package I booked had changed so now I can't go into the spa on my first day but I can "go for a walk". I explained my friend was going away the Sunday afternoon so we wouldn't be able to use the spa most of our second day, and we're relying on using it the first day not the second day. I asked, was there anything they could do. Email ignored. I then called and was told that not only could I not pay extra to upgrade my package (I don't mind paying extra at all, I wasn't asking for any freebies) I also couldn't book a walk in treatment the Saturday as that was against their rules. I explained I could do this myself online as a non staying guest and i could myself see availability that day, so she hung up! I then went online and booked the treatment myself. I'm not really looking forward to any of it after so many emails back and forth and feel really misled and like they were actively trying to make my stay poor by refusing to allow me to book something any member of the public can book. They are much cheaper than my normal choices of Pennyhill, Lucknum and Breedon Priory and now I know why....
Amazing!!
Today I got home from the most amazing weekend! I booked the Royal Suite for me and 4 others for my hen do and oh wow! It was by far the best that we have ever stayed in. Staff in reception had very kindly blown up some balloons that my friend had brought and displayed them in the room. The suite was absolutely spotless and we loved the hot tub on the balcony. All food was delicious 😋 the only downside was at breakfast service was a little slow for example bowls/spoons were very slow at being topped up, but the food itself was perfect. We also had a treatment each, which all of us really enjoyed and would definitely have again. 2 of us had the seaweed bath and 3 of us had the grand spa trilogy. My treatment, the grand spa trilogy, was honestly the best treatment I have ever had by far. The lady that did my treatment, Rebekah B, was so lovely and made me feel very comfortable, explaining everything as we went and was very friendly. We all had an amazing time and cannot wait to come again! Thank you.
We wanted to have a spa breakaway as it was our special birthdays
We wanted to have a spa breakaway as it was my 75th birthday on that day and my daughter's 50th in August so my daughter sent me the link for H c H. l was worried when I read some of the negative reviews on Trust Pilot so I decided to ring and speak to someone. I spoke with Ellie who promised me it would be special for us so I went ahead and booked, hoping I would not be disappointed for the 24th for an overnight stay. OH BOY!! I was not disappointed. On arrival, we had a choice of a glass of bubbly or a lemon and ginger spritz. Booking in was fast and simple so then onto our room which had a balcony. The room was lovely so we unpacked and headed straight to the spa facilities for a swim and sauna before having our 60-minute frangipani scrub and facial.....it was heaven. Back to the room for a quick change for dinner in the Ballroom but we had pre-dinner drinks first and Tom who was the barman was really funny and entertaining. The 3-course al a carte meal was absolutely delicious. Alex, our waiter for the evening, brought a glass of bubbly for both of us and chocolate birthday wishes on a dish with macaroons and fresh blueberries, and strawberries. Back to our room for the night for a good night's sleep. The following morning it was breakfast with so much choice and self-service. I wanted poached eggs so again nothing was too much trouble. After breakfast, we headed back to the spa facilities to discover a lot more than we had seen the night before. the different pools, different saunas, plunge pool, jacuzzis, and warm beds. Everything they described. Wish we had booked 2 nights now but we will definitely return for 2 nights.
