David Carr at Hertz Union Station deserves recognition for his exceptional customer service. He was professional, patient, and helpful from start to finish—even modifying my reservation and making the entire process feel effortless.

Since the convenient 9th Street location closed, Union Station has become a crowded and often overwhelming rental experience. David was a true bright spot. His welcoming attitude and willingness to help made all the difference. Hertz is fortunate to have someone who represents the company so well. Thank you, David, for making a hectic location feel personal and manageable!

I didn’t get treated with presidential status. I wasn’t offered the vehicle I reserved midsize SUV. Then, because the right size vehicle wasn’t cleaned. I had to wait, which delayed my trip

The location at Union Station is difficult to find to rent, confusing when leaving the facility, and a maze when returning. Thank goodness foe others who were also lost so we could piggyback on each other in case we never found the way out of the Union Station facility. The person helping me rent was very helpful, friendly, and cheerful despite having to work In a near dungeo.

The problem is that your PM manager gives away too many reserved cars to any customer that shows up, there aren't enough cars the following day.

Car was not available when we showed up at our reservation time. We ended up having to wait over an hour to get a car and missed part of the concert we were driving to. Staff was clueless and not at all helpful.

The customer service was really good. They were really kind and patient. I had a car-return issue and they fixed it right away.

I rent from you every week and there is always a problem -- from rude customer service, to charging me incorrectly. It is NEVER a smooth experience and I complain but nothing changes.

Had a great experience at Hertz- Union Station. I use to dread this location and avoided renting from here for almost 2 years because it use to be a complete nightmare. Super slow and on two occasions my car was unclean or in poor mechanical condition requiring me to return the vehicle shortly after pick up. The Uber pickups and regular rentals were being processed at the same Kiosk creating even more confusion. However, the one thing they always had going for them were friendly staff and now I must say there have been significant improvements with their processes as well. Great Job, Hertz!

People who work at Hertz in union station are great and helpful.
Weird though that they gave a car with empt tank, like literally drove 2 min before hit empty. This is fine, but need to ehll person picking up car that. Again staff are super friendly but need to be informtin the leaser.

Despite the man in charge as the manager of the station, and his most unethical attitude, and treatment to a customer, I am very satisfied with this rental experience.

The staff was very nice

I had a reservation for 9:30 AM, but I did not receive a vehicle until after 11:00 AM. The car they gave me was dirty and had almost no fuel, but I accepted it because it was the only vehicle available and I urgently needed to get to an appointment in Virginia.
An employee told me that delays like this are common at this location and that Hertz is aware of the situation but has done nothing to fix it. There was also no manager available.
I filled the gas tank less than a mile from the location. After driving only about four miles toward my hotel to pick up our luggage, the vehicle displayed an engine warning indicating a problem that could cause reduced power.
We then had to go to another Hertz location to exchange the vehicle. By the time we finally left with the replacement car, it was after 1:00 PM.
To make matters worse, I had just filled the first vehicle's fuel tank at my own expense. However, the replacement vehicle was given to me with less than half a tank of fuel. I therefore lost the money I had just spent filling the first vehicle, with no reimbursement or equivalent fuel provided.
Because of all these delays, we missed our scheduled appointment in Virginia. A 9:30 AM reservation turned into more than three and a half hours of delays, two Hertz locations, and an unsafe vehicle.
This was an unacceptable experience and caused a major disruption to our plans.

the car wasn't clean even though I had spent an hour waiting for the car to be cleaned and I thought that was the biggest issue and complaint I had

I booked with hertz to not have to wait to get a car. This location made me wait in line for 30 minutes to just show my ID to then wait another 20 minutes to get a car. There was no board with your name on it saying go to this parking spot or row.

Im being charged for two weeks and I only used the car 2 days. I have been waiting for a response and nothing has happened!

My experience renting from Hertz at DC Union Station was a throwback to renting a car 15-20 years ago. There's no board for Gold / 5-Star members to pick a car and go. There's only one window for the Hertz agent, and a long line of customers waiting. And the computer system seemed really slow (the staff seemed to be working diligently). They don't routinely top up the tanks; my car was only 3/8 full, and they were aware of that, and I heard other customers saying similar things to the staff.

The main good thing I'll say is that the location is convenient and the hours are convenient. The Silver Spring location is closer to me, but they're closed on Sunday and holidays and I didn't want to pay for an extra rental day because of their limited hours. The Hertz at Union Station, on the other hand, is open for a good number of hours 7 days a week.
