You charged me for liability insurance and a cleaning fee. This is not right!

Ease of getting and returning car.

Staff at MRY desk are always great. Very helpful. My only issues are that the car was dirty outside, and that the gas was at 3/4 full, which meant I had to call to let them know and then leave a note on after-hours return to avoid an extra charge.

The rental process is very easy and very quick on line. Once getting to the counter you check in grab your contract and keys and out the door. The cars are always gassed, clean and ready to go. It’s just as easy for the return. I have rented a few vehicles and the experience has been so satisfying that anytime I go out of town I for vacation or long trip I will rent from Hertz. I am a satisfied returning customer.

I love the ease and the reliability of working with Hertz. I love that Hertz always has premium space in each airport where I use them so I’m not walking out to the hinterlands looking for a no-name rental agency.

There was only one agent at the desk in Monterey when we were picking up our car (mid-size SUV), so we waited about 10 minutes. As compensation, unasked for, she kindly upgraded us to a Genisis SUV; a much larger car and very luxurious.
At drop-off, I simply parked near where I picked it up. Very easy process.

So fast and was from the plane to my rental car in about 10 minutes. Not kidding. I did walk right up to the counter, but it was 3 minutes and keys were in my hand. Nice car, nice service and I am grateful.

Pickup was a breeze, service person was friendly. Drop-off was easy. No surprise fees. Part of this was just Monterey airport being SO easy to navigate and having so few people, but all in all, I was very happy.

Car was filthy on pickup, the return process at MRY is confusing. No signage or person to meet you on return of vehicle. Additionally, flight was cancelled and attendant refused to let us an additional point to point rental to another airport. Despite being able to book online, attendant cancelled our reservation. Had to go to avis instead.

First car was nice, but then it started leaking (on a dry day) in the passenger foot well. Water saturated my wife’s purse sitting on the floor.

I called for a replacement car, but the agent was busy with an arriving flight. The agent called back and told me that sometimes the air conditioning leaks. I have rented hundreds of cars and never had one that leaked.

They offered me a minivan because they had no sedans available. I trekked back to the airport to pick it up. It worked okay.
