Very disappointing lack of transparency
I ordered a 5kg tub of Cukicream Pistacchio directly from Henley Bridge Ingredients. It was delivered on 9 June with a printed best-before date of 10 July — just ONE MONTH after delivery.
There was no mention of the short date when I purchased it and no information or certificate about any shelf-life extension was provided with my order.
When I contacted them, I was told that the shelf life had been extended to October and was sent a certificate — but only after I raised the issue. Their response was also that I should have checked the product and reported it within 72 hours.
I didn’t buy discounted short-dated stock from eBay or a clearance outlet. I bought a 5kg professional product directly from an ingredient supplier, so I reasonably expected either a normal shelf life or clear disclosure before purchase if the printed date was only a month away.
I’m pleased the product has now been confirmed safe to use, but that isn’t really the point. Customers should be given this information before they spend their money, not after they discover it themselves and complain.
Really disappointing experience.

As previously explained, we have an internal process whereby products with less than three months’ shelf life remaining are flagged to us prior to dispatch. This allows us to contact customers where appropriate, so they can make an informed decision before purchasing.
At the time of your order, this product had a best-before date extending into October, meaning there were approximately four months remaining. As this fell outside our less-than-three-month notification period, the order was not flagged for us to contact you prior to dispatch.
I am sorry, however, that the shelf-life extension certificate was not provided to you when you received the goods. This is something I will raise directly with our warehouse team to ensure this is addressed internally and that the appropriate documentation is provided with future orders where applicable.
With regard to our 72-hour reporting period, this applies to any damage or issues relating to deliveries and allows us to investigate and address these matters promptly. In this instance, the date concern was first brought to our attention yesterday, approximately two months after the goods were delivered. Unfortunately, the length of time that had passed does limit what we are able to do in terms of investigating the matter and resolving it retrospectively.
We do appreciate your feedback regarding the communication of shelf-life information, and we will take this on board as part of our internal review. We’re pleased that the product has since been confirmed as suitable for use, and we’re sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations.

Delivery was unfortunately very bad on this occasion, had no problems in the past.
Also the vanilla paste that I ordered arrived damaged even though it was packed well, it must have already been damaged before delivery.
