Poor Claims Handling and Lack of Transparency

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience with Haven Insurance following a household claim.

After significant damage to our kitchen, the claims process became unnecessarily drawn out and frustrating. Despite the Financial Ombudsman issuing a final decision in my favour, Haven repeatedly delayed settlement, requested excessive and repetitive evidence, and ignored the practical realities of the situation — including the fact that I was forced to replace the kitchen due to their earlier refusal to pay what was fairly owed.

Even after providing a professional quotation (as advised by the Ombudsman), they refused to accept it as a basis for settlement, causing further delays and emotional strain for me and my family. Their loss adjusters did eventually issue a revised settlement offer, but the breakdown remains unclear, especially regarding labour costs and prior payments made.

This process has highlighted a serious lack of transparency, accountability, and customer care. I would urge anyone considering Haven Insurance to think carefully and be prepared for a potentially long and stressful claims process.

Settlement accepted. Still no payment

Third party was insured with haven and wrote my car off. Third party admitted fault. Injury settlement offer was accepted even though it was low and now haven are failing to acknowledge any communications or pay out the settlement agreement

RUN AS FAR AND FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS COMPANY

This company is not fit for purpose , they are currently have a large amount of civil cases against them (public information)
With Haven refusing to abide by the financial ombudsman decision (had to take it there) i am forced to join the growing ranks of people taking legal court action against them , if you have any form of ongoing claim with Haven it is very likely they will flat out refuse to settle with you or more than likely undercut the real value of your claim ,
The company that "claims" to resolve issues is currently facing court action without prejudice from myself as having admitted to my lawyers of their incompetent handling of a 'non fault' claim they have now ceased all form of communication , they actually have 7 days to respond to my lawyers and we are so confident they will not ...that we have actually started putting our court paperwork together ready for Haven to be served the following day after the deadline ,
IF you are contemplating taking out a policy don't as THIS IS THE REAL HAVEN YOU WILL BE DEALING WITH .

There as no option for zero Star Review for Acorn Insurance and Haven Insurance**

I have been a customer of Acorn Insurance for 2 years, insuring . However, my experience has been utterly disappointing.

I have been trapped in a frustrating back-and-forth with their claims department. The market value for my car is between £15000 and they initially quoted me £10000,an offer I rightfully declined.

For more then 10 week s, i have been conducting future valuations, and I have not been able to contact my case handler, when you try to ring them 45 mint wait plus they passing to acorn and haven to each other after they just hung phone. I ring them 100 time in one week so still can't find who's your case handler no emails or phone calls from either of them during this entire process. especially for a non-fault incident.

I highly do not recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable insurance coverage.mostly of them scam bug

Exceptional Service

Giulia Lombardi assured me with my call today. It’s the first time I’ve ever had to make an insurance call. I was incredibly shaken up and she provided me with the utmost comfort and support. Absolutely appalling company

Absolutely appalling company. I had a main cold water pipe burst in my loft on 30th April 2025 at midnight the ceiling collapsed and water was just pouring in. Within 10 minutes it had flooded the whole bungalow. I called the emergency number only to be told they are a 3rd party company and as they are not able to look up anyones insurance details to confirm what kind of policies they have if they come out and find what issue isnt covered they will charge me a fee. So I decided to call back in the morning hoping to speak to the correct department. Turned out they were a 3rd party company still. I explained my whole bungalow was flooded I needed help with cleaning up but they refused saying send us some photos and get three indepth quotes and we will then decide if anyone will come out. I told them i wasnt comfortable with seeing out companies that i didnt know and could they please send me recommendations they refused and told me to use check a trade. I advised no damage could be seen till I had help cleaning up but still that was ignored. They forgot to get me an urgent electrician out I only received one 8 days later for what good he was. After he had eventually took the kitchen light down and checked sockets i had a number of appliances that got water damaged and i asked if some could be checked to see if they are still useable. He told me he cant test them but to do it myself and plug them in and see if they trip the circuit, if they do then there is an issue what a joke. Photos and videos that i was able to do went over on 9/10th May, I have had no confirmation they have received then despite asking on 3 separate occasions. I have now had to hire my own fire/flood restoration company at a cost of £174 to do a full in depth assessment of were water is still lying in the bungalow and what need to be done to dry it out before any repairs can be done. That report for boxing and moving the contents of my bungalow into storage for a set amount of time, stripping most of the rooms spraying and drying them with specialist machines, follow up visits etc coming it at just over £15,000. He made it quiet clear the delay and not helping me with the clean up has just allowed the water to penetrate more areas. Since the 30th April when this burst pipe happen I have not had any communication from this insurance company at all. I have personally had to clean up and ripp out all the flooring on my own. Not great when I'm already not able to work due to my health condition and having a sprained wrist but they have forced me to do this making my health worse. And to top it all the £350 excess somehow is now £600 why i have no idea. So for the last two days I have been trying to find anything i can to sell to raise this money and ive have not choice now but to also put up for sale my mobility scooter. I am sickened by this companies lack of compassion and consideration and I am fearful reading these reviews of the battle I still have a head of me. Claim number 2025/HH/000888 so you dont need to as for any further information lie on these other reviews. I will now be taking further legal advice on this ongoing claim.

Terrible

Paid for repair almost two years after car was damaged by drunk driver. they did not want to pay for hired vehicle when my was in the garage. Case end up in the court, my car lost value, I had multiple problems. Avoid at all costs.

AVOID - Nightmare to deal with their business…
