Would strongly recommend this show, as it was good to re-explore the magic of Harry Potter. The cast was incredible.

Wouldn't recommend. The first half of the show appeared to lack much of a plot and felt very much on the level of a secondary school production. Luckily it improved a little after that, gaining a bit... Leggi di più

You are crazy if you waste money on this bilge.over 5 hours in the theatre and a good 4 hours too many.totally unengaging and a clear attempt to hijack the Harry Potter story and get people in under the illusion they would be partaking of the hogwarts magic.very woke too.ticks every woke box.would probably have paid money to have avoided this experience
Absolutely waste of money and time. Torture!
Absolutely waste of money and time! I was excited about the show but it was pure rubbish. The acting felt like year 6 school production, the props were just set of stairs which turned into imaginative train or hogwarths or whatever they wanted it to be! The story of cursed child was like written by a 5 year old..people were yawning, looking at their watches through the show. It was a torture! Wish I could get money back for the torture we faced today!! I wish I read reviews before booking the show!!
Grey and far too long
I did not have any expectations really, I am a fan of the books and the movies. We went to see both parts in one day; it felt really long and repetitive. Amazing lighting and choreography, acting as well but definitely not engaged with an endless plot and very monochrome characters. I left after the 3rd act and honestly don't regret It at all. I would much more recommend go to Warner cross Harry Potter museum for 45 pounds which is fantastic
So disappointing
Genuinely sorry to say I have to agree with the negative reviewers here. Many of the special effects were very good but that's really where the positives ended.
In the stalls you're craning your neck around constantly to see around the person in front of you which was horrible.
The acting felt quite sub par compared to many other plays in London I've been to and at no point stirred any sort of emotional response except for when there were flashbacks. In particular there were sad or intense scenes which were seemingly acted in a way to get a laugh from the audience when they should have been sad.
Characters were changed from the books and movies in weird ways and it all just felt like a very sub standard performance riding on the coat tails of the Harry Potter brand.
I felt the child actors were probably better than most of the adult actors even if some of them were written to behave bizarrely.
amazing & magical
I honestly don't know what people complain about. Suddenly, all people are experts on everything, and they expect the world to tick all their boxes. I loved the show. Every minute of it. It was simply amazing and full of magic. There are many young actors in the play who have yet to gain their stage experience, and yes, they may be trying a bit too hard at times. But this is theatre, not some stupid Netflix. I can't imagine the amount of work put into this play. The special effects were absolutely incredible, the props, costumes, music, lights, etc.
Come on, people, you have to start appreciating effort and stop... expecting.
For me, it was magical, beautiful, and simply spectacular, and I hope it's still on in 2 years time so I can take my daughter to see it.

The show is overpriced over acted with limited production of value. Go and see Stranger Things and Back to the future instead. Positive reviews are obviously Harry Potter crazy fans. For the rest of us muggles the story is hard to follow and dialogue heavy
Special effects were best I’ve ever…
Special effects were best I’ve ever seen but really that was the only good part. Most of us in the stalls had someone’s head in the way, blocking a part of the view so don’t recommend those seats which was disappointing. The story was quite confusing and doesn’t need to be so long. Some of the casting was bad, didn’t match characters or overacted, no Harry Potter music which seems like a huge miss. Generally, this play has been overrated because of the name and the price is way too much.
Overrated show!
Lengthy dialogues were tedious and boring. Attempts at comedy were more cringey than funny. Michelle Gayle’s monotone, scripted voice ruined the character of Hermione. Terrible actress! All other actors looked like their characters and portrayed them ok except the actor who played Scorpius who overacted. The storyline/script lacked any excitement and very predictable. Seats not graduated enough in the stalls and are stacked in a way that you’re right behind the person sitting in front (not between the gaps). Had to sit in an uncomfortable position to get a view. This is not ideal when you’re in that seat for a number of hours! The only good, effective part were the dementors….. Expected a lot more for the money!

Loved Harry Potter and the cursed child. This is a play on the stage so don't expect the same special effects and scenery as the films. You have to use your imagination more which I did and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are some good effects, especially the dementers, and the story kept me gripped.
I couldnt really complain however
I couldnt really complain however, i paid so much for our seats that werent great, the overhang at the palace theatre is not great, and people contiguously coming in and out opening the door and letting daylight in ect, other than that it was very very good
Seating plan of the Princess Theatre is Russian roulette. Don't expect customer service to help you if anything goes wrong.
We live in Europe and haven't been able to get tickets for the London shows of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, so we were very excited to find tickets available when we were visiting Melbourne. The tickets we purchased were mid-price range and we made sure we didn't select seats with a restricted view. Unfortunately the view turned out to be so limited that we haven't seen anything happening on stage. We expressed our concerns to the staff of the Princess Theatre in the beginning of the show. The only thing they could offer were stand alone seats with a restricted view in the rear of the theatre that were placed behind seats in a lower category (two price levels down). We understand that in a sold-out show it's impossible to add seats with a better view, so the only option left was to contact Marriner Group customer service. We didn't get a reply to our first e-mail. The reply to our second attempt two weeks later was that we "have been made aware of the obstructed view during the on-line booking process" (I checked again today, and nowhere in the booking process it mentions the restricted view with the seats we selected. It does however with other seats.), and that they couldn't be of any further help "...as this show is a past performance..."
I would never take the risk of purchasing tickets to the Princess Theatre again, as it's clearly a Russian roulette. The organization behind it is close to (if not) a scam, as you don't have to expect anything from their customer service if anything goes wrong.
Thank you Marriner Group, for ruining our night out and giving us a middle finger afterwards.
Generally overpriced and over awarded /…
Generally overpriced and over awarded / overrated show. Can not compare to e.g. Lion King, Aladdin. It seems like a money making scheme to charge around £300 any naive Potter Fan who thinks they will see a theatre version of what they know from the films. I was so disappointed, almost wanted to skip the second part! Here is why: scenography was very poor- suitcases used for almost any object (including graves), whether the action is at Kings Cross or Howard’s or Forbidden Forest- the scenography looks the same. Themes from Harry Potter books / films not followed ( most likely due to copyright) so a Sorting Hat is a man in a suit who places his hat on students heads, no music that we all know that could connect us with the Harry Potter theme. Also graphically, the logos of the Four Houses or the Death Mark and many other look different. Special effects so poor! When spells are casted - lights are flashing across the stage;( when characters appear in portraits - you can see them walk in and out the stage. Other examples of magic are just disappointing illusion, not ever well performed. One thing work recognising are flying Dementors. Generally think of all the amazing decoration and themes that could be used to recreate the rich and colourful world of Harry Potter - only less than 10% is there! Save your money!
