Dangerous tools and unresponsive company

I went to harbor freight April 12, 2026 located in Hays Kansas at 2918 Vine St suite 140. My son and I had taken a tool in, in hopes of having it replaced. It was a warrior step drill bit. The sales manager told us that because it was a free gift during a sale on 3/22/26 that it had no value and store policy did not permit an exchange(not exact wording). We explained that it was the first time using the drill bit and it was being used to pre drill roofing metal. I explained that once the bit pierced the metal the end of the bit literally shattered sending shrapnel flying causing damage to our qounset hut leaving a hole in it. I told him that you can clearly see that it was from defective materials. He looked at the broken tool and said hmm ive never seen that before. He basically said it didn't matter. He asked questions as though he did not believe what we were telling him. I asked for the stores legal information as it had caused damage when it shattered. He said that there was an incident report form that we could fill out. It took him several minutes to return to the register with the form. It was long enough my son and I had contemplated just leaving. When he returned to the register he asked a couple of questions and I inquired if the form could be brought home and returned or had to be filled out right then. "He" stated that he had to fill the form out. I told him that I had ice cream in my truck and I would have to do it later. I then asked how long I have to fill out the form. The form is 5 pages front and back so ten pages total. "He" said the sooner the better. He made the statement that "people use and abuse items and bring them back hoping to get new ones". Now whether he meant to insinuate that was what happened in our case or not my son and I took it as him of accusing us of doing that very practice. To sum this long story up I have a damaged out building(a steel building with a hole in it, a shattered drill bit that you can clearly see issues with the materials used to make it. The edge of the break was not sheered or torn but shattered. The metal was/is rusted and textured like sand paper. While the drill bit it's self didn't have a lifetime warranty many of the tools I have bought over the years have had one. When using this store I have found that a lifetime warranty no questions asked policy means being accused of intentionally damaging tools or even having to argue that a tool has a lifetime warranty when the package clearly states that it does. This is not the first time I've had issues with this store but it will most certainly be the last.

Yelled at for asking help locating an item not on display

To start with I have bought good amount of items from this store in Cary in the past. Yesterday I was asking for help locating a product that was not on display and tag was covered up. I asked the associate if they had what I was looking for. I ended up having to tell him several times. He yelled at me what are you looking for, before finally locating the tag. Short guy with glasses. After he brought out I noticed have to buy the charger and battery so would be like 265 dollars so I decided not to get after all. I walked off because of his crap attitude. Looked around a bit then asked a different associate about another product not displayed. He took me to the end cap were was just some cards hanging. He had an attitude. I just left the store did not buy a thing. I know what I need and can order online get it shipped. The other item craftsman is less expensive. Will not go back to that store.

Horrible service parts were not in the…crystal river fl sstore

Horrible service parts were not in the box wheels missing.And they told me come back for wheels. Went back 25 minute drive and they said I should bring compressor with me. It's heavy and already out of box they didn't care, told me, I had to bring it back to get the wheels.Horrible customers service.I will just return it

I went to harbor freight in Corsicana / the 3 gal McGraw compressor was tagged on sale for $59.00 / with my membership it would be $49.00.
When I went to pay, cashier said it’s $69. The sale does not begin til Monday . Today is Saturday . The tag did not say that. Mgr said only reason they tagged Saturday is because they’re closed Sunday Easter .
I suggested they need to tag either before or after hours. They did not honor it.
I left it / poor management and I won’t return.

I bought a crappy grinder

I bought a crappy grinder. I am/hopefully was on inside track. So they cant find any info on my buying this. They have my phone number address etc. So my crappy grinder was still essentially new. Not even dirty at all. The plastic switch button fell out. So only way I could use it was to put a zip tie in it. DANGEROUS!!!!. I had to use it on what was maybe second time. I brought it back they had no idea. I pay money to be on the skippys a happy cramper club. I can buy for the same price or less items from Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart has great service better prices and decent Chinese tools. To heck with HF. Not better. And more money. Why?

HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS, KINGSTON NY. I was concerned with energy issues and rising prices for fuel so I stopped by Harbor Freight to investigate portable power stations. I was fortunate to have met with Lexi, who was not only very knowledgeable about what I would need, but took the time to explain the various systems available. I purchased solar panels from Lexi but since Harbor Freight in Kingston did not have the Power Station I needed, she was good enough to contact a sister store in Poughkeepsie and have one reserved for me. It is not often that I see such quality customer service, these days. I am glad that Lexi was available and demonstrated her superlative knowledge, care and consideration. Kudos! I will be returning.

I have been trying for several minutes…

I have been trying for several minutes to get to my local Harbor Freight website. I have been sent to ebay and Amazon and various Harbor Freight sites that will not allow me to type in what I am looking for. (hammer drill). What a confusing and disturbing website. Also I was in my local Harbor Freight store the other day and waiting in line way to long and the line not moving so I set down the item I had wanted and left. That was not the first time but probably will be the last. I went to Menards and bought a better version of the same item for a dollar less and got checked out IN LESS THAN TWO MINUTES. Ya'lls check out service SUCKS!

Harbor Freight Ripoff

I am very upset with my purchase of an Avanti paint sprayer. I had to return it because it was defective. Upon opening the replacement sprayer, it too was defective. Not wanting to gamble on the fact that a third sprayer would work. I asked for a refund. At that time, I was told that I would have to pay a restocking fee. How is it legal for Harbor Freight to charge a $50 dollar restocking fee on a product that never worked in the first place. I feel that this is a fraudulent practice that should not be tolerated and I will pursue every avenue to ensure that no other customer must pay a fee to get their money back for defective products. Harbor Freight should be ashamed of themselves for stealing from their customers this way. I will no longer do business with Harbor Freight or recommend them for future customer purchases due to their poor business practices.

Before yesterday would give them 5 stars. Decent cheap products and evey visit the staff has been helpful and just friendly. Went to Ridgeland, MS yesterday to purchase $900 sale item. The result was "manager" Tristan erased 5 stars. Unhelpful, more concerned with his "feelings" than assisting customers. Please help him find "another opportunity" so you can take back the 5 stars he cost you and I can continue to be a happy customer.

63144 Multi-use Transfer Pump…

Bought a Multi-use Transfer Pump (63144) and receipt says subject to restock fee, If opened return to HFTPumpRtn.com. It is not a secure site!
Go to the Harbour Freight website it says not returnable if opened. NEVER AGAIN! Piece of **Junk**

No one to help customer

Went to the Reno store looking for an item. I spent 20+ minutes looking for the item. Then I looked for ANYONE who could help. Not a single person on the floor! Nada!! Whatever, came home and ordered it from Amazon. That's $239 they are not getting....

Harbor "Bait and Switch" Freight.

Just ended a phone call with HF "customer (no)service". Pretty clear, that the HF marketing strategy is: Flood the internet with worthless "in store only" coupons to dupe customers into the store (knowing that stores have zero inventory). It gets worse: The website and app USED TO HAVE A "search nearby stores" feature, which theoretically allowed customers to verify ACTUAL in-stock quantity, thus avoiding a useless trip to the store. OMG! That would tip off customers about the (not in stock) scam, so it's recently been deleted! Honest companies that run sale promotions, usually offer online ordering options, or rain checks, as a service to customers. HF does exactly the opposite, and it's no mistake. Clearly, HF deserves zero stars for a purposeful, deceptive scam operation. Longtime (former) inside-track-club member here.
