The book I ordered arrived late. The spine foiling is crooked, the cover boards are warped, the end papers were not secure and the text block was a cheap photocopy and distorted to boot. Never again.

Excellent Service. Very satisfied with purchase. I was looking for a book printed originally in 1872 and is the memoirs of an ancestor of mine. I already had a copy of the original book but wanted another for other family members. I posted a search for it on Abe books and received an alert that Gyan books could provide me with a copy on 7th January 2024, placed an order on 9th January and received it today 27th January

Only read the awful reviews on here, after I had ordered it, so was not expecting anything much, if at all and was feeling foolish for ordering it.

What a relief!! It was exactly as described, beautifully bound with a leather cover and well put together, with good quality paper. I am also delighted that the book is slightly bigger than the original, with a font size which is much easier to read than the original which had tiny writing

They had the exact rare book that I wanted. I was able to pay with PayPal. The book arrived in about 2 weeks and is just what I wanted. I am very happy with the purchase.

Since writing my review below I have made progress in obtaining the book I ordered. Although I paid via PayPal and not through ABE, I contacted ABE to inform them of the difficulty I was having with Gyan. I have to say how impressed I am with ABE. They took the matter up with Gyan and miraculously Gyan found the book I ordered although they previously said they did not have it. I was sent images by Gyan to confirm it was the correct book. It has now been printed and is on it's way to me. Fingers crossed it is the right one when it arrives. I feel that had it not been for the intervention of ABE I would still be struggling to get the correct book or my money back. It has now been three months since I placed the order. A long haul indeed!

I have purchased three items from Gyan in the last few months. The first was exactly what I ordered although it did take a very long time to arrive. The second was the wrong binding and poorly bound. The third was completely the wrong book and I have been unable to get a replacement or refund from them. I ordered through ABE books but now learn that as I paid Gyan by PayPal, I am not covered by ABE and have opened a case for a refund with PayPal. It has been almost impossible to communicate with Gyan. It seems that every email I send is responded to by a different person and they have not read previous emails. The responses I get from them are quite incomprehensible but it is quite clear that they do not have the item I ordered and are simply trying to fob me off to avoid giving a refund. I suggest that you avoid this company at all costs. Whilst they put a veneer of professionalism on their business it masks their complete and utter incompetence when something goes wrong.

I want to preface my review by saying I had two good to decent purchases from Gyan Books this year ...until a third went very wrong.

I purchased my third book about one month ago opting for a paperback. I received an email days later imploring me to upgrade to a hardcover for about 3x the price. I declined this offer and nothing was heard for weeks.

Knowing Gyan works very slowly (especially when you order directly from their site and not through AbeBook/eBay/etc where they can be held accountable to some extent) I gave them several weeks longer than I would any other vendor. When I hadn't received an Order Shipped email in three weeks I checked their site and saw my order was "cancelled". I do not believe I received any indication from them via email about this, so I reached out to them. They responded several days later saying "the book you ordered is not available."

That's a pitiful excuse but what's really bad is there lack of a response to two emails I've sent them since asking for a refund.

If your product is not available it is on you, the seller, to reach out to the buyer and to issue them a refund ASAP! It is amazing that this company can exist in this era of customer service.

Needless to say, I'm not sure I'll be ordering from Gyan ever again. And I would urge others not to as well. But if you do, please use their presence on 3rd party sites that will assist you in getting your money back. Gyan has virtually no integrity when you order direct. Something that is especially sinful given the money you're saving them in merchant fees.

It's been 6 years now, since Gyan Books Pvt Ltd first hacked me and since then, they have never left.

I republish used books online, one of which I introduced on a book platform. To get the name of the reference work, Gyan Books immediately hacked my private collection and took the title.
5 days later, I noticed that they had multiple sites up selling the book.
Since that time, Gyan Books have only sunk lower and lower.

Gyan Books pretends to be a legitimate business but they are a sketchy storefront operating out of New Delhi, India.

I am a writer and Gyan Books have changed all my passwords locking me out of my paid and non-payment websites, while, they made free with these paid sites that I couldn't use.

Gyan Books are also darkweb devotees that stole all of my identity and sold it 8 times at a criminal auction.

Gyan Books erased 250 gigabytes of research and chapters of manuscripts that I was working on. That was 12 years of work stored in Gmail.

I tried loading my materials into the cloud but as I proceeded Amit Garg of Gyan Books erased the entire upload.

I paid for a job opportunity online and was hired, but the Monday morning that I was supposed to start, they changed my password so that I could no longer proceed. I called my employer and explained the situation but the company needed documentation stored with my now deleted 12 years old Gmail account.

It only gets worse. And, to think that I was going to buy a book from them!

Recently I brought large amount of books. One set cost me more than 5000 INR. When received the package was damaged and few books looks old. May be this store is good for small books but certainly not for expensive one. Be careful.

Bought a book 5 weeks ago. I was asked to pay again, as the first payment hadn't gone through. I did.
They sent me a link to track the shipment and it shows that the book was in UK when I ordered it, but in India 3 weeks later!
Writing to them in another nightmare. Most email addresses aren't checked by their staff (only the cs@).
Every time they ask for more patience and they "will check with the courier".
Fortunately, I paid by Paypal, so I can demand a refund.
A completely irresponsible and unprofessional business.

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. Appalling. Claimed to have delivered my book but no book arrived (I was at home al day and have door cameras). When I complained the next day they bounced me back to the delivery company called Shiprocket, and then claimed I didn't complian within 72 hours so my claim was void. Thank goodness I paid via Paypal who were superb.
Avoid Gyanbooks.

Ordered book and paid via Paypal. Gyan Books denied receiving payment and demanded further payment! Very poor communication. I have ordered books from these people before but never again.

Excellent communications, quality of production and delivery. Order placed with Amazon in mid January was not completed by mid March so I cancelled that and turned to Gyanbooks. They offered me customised production options at half the price of the Amazon deal. Order date to delivery did take about seven weeks but this was a specialist book. Delivery took just four days from Delhi to London. I have the book in facsimile online but hard copy is more convenient for my purpose so I am delighted with the result.

Extremely poor service. My order could not be delivered due to Gyan Books getting my address WRONG. I contacted the shipper who told be that the seller, i.e. Gyan Books only can correct this by printing a new label with the correct address. Today is day 38 and I still have not received my order because no new label has been printed and sent to the shipper. Also, they are not answering my emails. TAKING YOUR MONEY, GETTING YOUR ADDRESS WRONG AND THEN NOT BOTHERING CORRECTING IT TO GIVE IT TO THE SHIPPER IS IRRESPONSIBLE, DISHONEST AND BAD FOR BUSINESS!

On two occasions I have had to get a refund from Paypal (who have been excellent). Promises, promises but nothing arrived. They do not make it clear that all the books are reproduced about A5 size and not to the size of the original. Quality is poor. All this company does is to trawl the Internet for PDFs of out of copyright books and print them. You can find any on the Internet at archive.com or, sometimes on other websites.

I ordered a book from this company, in half leather. The pics look attractive. The book warped within 3 days, the craftsmanship is horrible, cheap products, cheap paper. Sad. I will never order a book from them again.

They said that they had it in stock and ready to ship.
They gave me a idea of delivery of December 9th and before December 27th of 2022.
They gave me the tracking number on December 23rd.
I have not received an update since December 29th, when they gave me a delivery date of December 27th.
I have reached out to PayPal, Ebay and Gyanbooks.
I wouldn't ever be purchasing from this company in the future.

Complete waste of time. Going on six weeks. Plenty of excuses and non-responses. Just filed fraud complaint with AMEX and processing refund.

I should have done my due diligence and found the countless consumer complaints about both companies.

Complete waste of time. Ordered a book, and more than forty days later is has not even been sent out. Lots of excuses and promises of getting it done very soon, and tracking number will be provided, but nothing ever received, not even a tracking number. Gave up today after six weeks and got a refund via PayPal.

To be completely honest I wasn't expecting a lot .... BUT .... today I received my order placed directly with this company in Delhi India about three weeks ago and I am delighted with the facsimiles of two very hard to source and frightfully expensive books I received. They are a great size, much easier to read than the early 19thC originals which are particularly small for reading comfortably if I could even source them. The quality of the binding is excellent and they have obviously been hand finished. The cover is really nice with matching dust cover and I would have no hesitation in giving these people five star, ten if I could! I would have no hesitation in buying any very rare, hard to source local history book from them in future. Way exceeded my expectation! Yes, I had customs charges, they were less than I expected, the books came very securely packaged and addressed delivered to my remote west of Ireland address by FedEx. Thank you very much Gyan Books PVT Ltd.

It was simply one of the best services! They always respond for any type of question or information with email and the shipping was super fast. The book is amazing just like the photo, highly recommended! I ordered from Italy and it arrived in 3 days. Will order again!

I ordered 4 books for different locations (in UK, Italy and Canada). After many automated order/shipping confirmation emails, nothing was actually shipped at all. After 3 weeks I received 4 separate refunds, out of the blue, with no explanations/emails. Complete waste of time!
