Kindness and compassion

A few days ago we said goodbye to our beloved cat Poppy. That is an awful experience but Grove Lodge Vets couldn’t be any more kind and compassionate. We were offered a private room, I was given a cup of tea and all the time we needed to say goodbye to Poppy and we said goodbye while she was in my arms. Today I received a card in the post and some forget me not seeds. They have also taken some paw prints for us. I cannot recommend the experience but I can absolutely recommend the vet.

This practice is nothing short of…

This practice is nothing short of shameful. They delayed collecting blood from my cat for two days, even though I was present with her for a booked appointment and this could have been done there and then. They refused to perform the blood collection and assured me that she was stable and that it was appropriate to delay the routine blood extraction for two days.

Long story short she was dead by the time of the appointment.

If they write to you from one of the outer Russian dolls, be aware that IVC Evidensia are a dormant company actively marked for striking off.

If you have a terrible experience with this vet make sure you report it to the royal college of vetinary surgeons, don't be fooled by this IVC company writing to you, they are the owning company and have a vested interest.

There are some fantastic clinics in the area that put your pets health before profits, this is not one of them.

Punished for raising a complaint

We have been customers for many years with our 2 cats and received good service. We have spent many thousands of pounds here. However our chihuahua puppy has been treated shamefully and denied the health checks we had paid for because she curled her lip and growled at vet Carlos. He then preceded to tell me that because I had chosen to carry out natural flea and worm treatment she was at high risk of lung worm and could ‘bleed out on the table’ during her spay. He was dismissive of the 3 monthly fecal tests we pay for through the excellent Feclab, which includes lung worm testing - our pup is completely clear. I therefore made a written complaint as I was really shook up after the appointment. This is when I first encountered the clinical director Louise Prager. This person is quite frankly a bully. I have a long chain of emails where she refuses to apologise, says the fecal tests we pay for are not good enough, vet Carlos is without fault (apparently she can see and hear appointments on CCTV therefore the fact I felt upset and scared didn’t matter as she didn’t judge that I should feel that way!!). She is now insisting we remove our cats from the practice as the fact I no longer trust them with my puppy’s care means (apparently) that my cats should be punished by being excluded. It is clear from their trust pilot reviews that under Prager’s management that Grove Lodge is losing its care and attention and only looks at their profit. I have made a complaint to the RCVS since the organisation she reports to and she directed me to complain to is only 1 star on trust pilot with hundreds of negative reviews.

Don’t use corporation vets

They really don’t care, just a money making corporation. They forget that people don’t put up with being treated like cash cows. Their attitude is appalling. They don’t liked to be questioned about their actions. I asked for the name of their manager, I was told by a receptionist “I don’t know” then “I can’t give you their name”. They were supposed to call me back, that failed to happen. If it was about money they’d have been on the phone immediately. I find their whole attitude stinks, so going to an independent vet. Never using a corporation vet again.

Very poor experience

The waiting room is far too small to expect owners with their pets who are understandably stressed and sometimes reactive to wait. Indeed I was shocked especially as this is meant to be the main clinic for this group to find such an unsuitable environment to expect people and pets to wait!
The reception staff are amazing and took me and my dog out another entrance as she herself was concerned about a reactive dog in the waiting room at the time of my visit.
I have seen two vets from this practice recently who were both dismissive, unfriendly and one who told me one my pets needed an unnecessary blood test as he had been imported despite adhering to all requirements by defra. No evidence base but plenty of emotional blackmail. Too triggering to actually put in print here!
Absolutely disgusted! She advised the practice manager would not allow me to register without it!!! . Really, well That’s fine, this is not a vets I wish to be registered with.
To pay large sums of money for a 10min consultation and be treated in such an unprofessional manner is unacceptable!
I’ll return to my friendly and helpful vets despite the journey.

Do you believe this vet?

Do you believe this vet? I have an arthritic cat. They mentioned a medication they could give me, but it would cost £140 a month in their clinic. It was too expensive, and she suggested I search online. She even wrote down the medication so I could look for it. I located the medication online for £85 and, as advised, called the veterinarian to receive a prescription.
I waited for the vet to call and tell me to pick up the prescription; however, I was informed that it was not possible. They will not permit this going forward.
I went back to the website where I first discovered the drug, it mentions all I require was a prescription from my vet and that the substance will be at a controlled temperature.
I was put in touch with the veterinarians' director, the lady told me they had a meeting discussing this drug and that she had told all her veterinarians not to distribute it because of H&S and temperature.
I seem rather puzzled to believe that highly trained veterinarians would have forgotten and not consider informing clients of this instead of handing over a sheet of paper. This is especially strange to me as my cat has already been examined and was given the go-ahead.
Who is stating the truth in this situation? Would you trust them or are they fabricating lies of such magnitude or is it just about the money? I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Wouldnt send a slug here

long a huge lump of 'fat' as verified by 5 independent vets that a hole was left when should have been closed up adequately and with care and attention to detail. ££££s is
