Bought a car from good motors on Sunday. Went to visit the car on Saturday, brilliant customer service being shown around with the car. Took it for a test drive, wasn’t mithered, was left to look around, test drove on my own which was great. A Cautionary Tale – Do Not Trust Their "Checks"
At first, the sale seemed promising. A test drive was arranged, a few minor issues noted, but I was assured they’d all be sorted before collection. The only sticking point was the part-exchange price—but after some negotiation, they met my asking price, and things looked good.
The agreed conditions:
The car would have a full 12-month MOT.
Their “comprehensive vehicle checks” would be legitimate. The sales rep insisted everything was done.
Minor cosmetic issues (paint chips, wheels, spoiler) would be rectified before collection.
Reality check on collection day:
I gave the car a once-over and immediately spotted issues. The tyre pressure warning light was on (odd, considering their so-called checks), and the windscreen wiper issue hadn’t been fixed. When I asked for the MOT certificate, I was told it was valid until September—despite our agreement for a fresh MOT. I refused to take the car without it.
They sent the car to their partner garage (just 5 minutes from them), where it became glaringly obvious the car would fail its MOT. The garage stopped the test, and the dealership promised to "sort it out." The verdict?
All four tyres were unroadworthy.
The wipers were still faulty.
The front brakes had a warning (which made sense—they felt soft).
This was particularly frustrating because the dealership was 2.5 hours away from my home. I had no choice but to rely on their word that the car was in good condition and ready to go. That trust was badly misplaced.
When I later had the tyres replaced, the workers looked at them and said:
"They let you drive back on these tyres?"
That tells you everything you need to know.
Their "solution":
A £350 contribution toward new tyres—based on their quick browse of a budget tyre website. This didn't cover fitting, balancing, or adjustment. My actual cost? £650 for mid-range tyres.
Swapping out the wipers from my part-ex vehicle—a car I had fitted with new wipers just weeks earlier.
Meanwhile, my part-exchange vehicle had brand new rear tyres fitted just two months prior.
Bottom line: I handed over a car in better condition than the one I received and paid them for the privilege.
This dealership claims to do thorough vehicle checks, but if that’s true, why were:
1) The illegal tyres not flagged and replaced?
2) The wiper issue ignored?
3) No detailed report identifying potential problems provided before sale?
Yes, they attempted to fix things after the fact, but that’s like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. Their approach feels reactive, not proactive—get the sale done and hope the customer won’t notice.
A further observation has been noted that when applying their own branded VRN, they have drilled holes into the metal bodywork of the car at the rear, and even these holes were not applied straight.
I'm not in the habit of writing negative reviews and I wish I could be more positive, but even the sales rep seemed clueless about the car he was selling. I ended up telling him more about it.
Would I buy from them again? Not a chance. Would I trust their “comprehensive checks”? Absolutely not.

Firstly, regarding the vehicle you purchased, it had 9 months left on its MOT at the time of sale. We offered you a fair deal on the car, which was priced to reflect its condition, and we were happy to proceed with the sale once you agreed to the terms. We do not recall any promise of a new MOT; however, we understand there may have been some confusion. Fair play to you for being an experienced customer, and you managed to negotiate an additional £300 after the deal was concluded.
Additionally, in regard to your part-exchange, we offered you £1,000 more than the initial value we discussed, which we believe is a fair and generous offer.
Concerning the issues you raised with the tyres and windscreen wipers, we did take steps to address these and offered a contribution toward replacing the tyres. We understand that the tyres did not meet your expectations, but as a value-for-money dealer, the condition of the vehicle was reflected in its price. Despite these minor issues, you chose to proceed with the purchase.
We take customer satisfaction seriously and strive to be transparent in all our dealings. While we do not entirely agree with the severity of your review, we appreciate the opportunity to clarify our position and will continue to work on improving our service moving forward.

Tesla model 3
Bought a Tesla this week. The guys were really great, turned upto buy one through finance, decided to get another so they had to cancel and start the whole thing again. And then they delivered it for me the next day so I didn't have to drive back up!
(There is a issue with the cameras in the car which I rang and was told they will sort out without a problem, will update when done. Sure with more positive feedback.)
But leaving 5 stars now as have completed trust in the owner. Top guy.
